I really like Aaron Taylor Johnson's work. That being said, everything else in the movie was stacked against him. A good actor can only overcome so much writing stupidity. Johnson does the best he can with the awful script, but in the end it mauled him. Still hope to see him in other projects... of the un-Doomed kind.
To be fair in the comics, Spider-Man gets super powers, from a radioactive spider bite. And Barry Allen's the flash, gets his powers by getting struck by lightning in his lab, while chemicals splash over his body.

The state of superhero movies is bad. The problem is that it has become too mainstream. They forgot that these films are based on a comic book. I grew up reading comic books and I always imagined that the books I read would someday be made into a movie or TV show. These filmmakers are not fans of the comics and they don’t care. Please let people who know and understand these things make movies. Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, and that guy from the Kingsman movies, they know what they are doing not these people. Oh and there are lots of great comics writers who are too many to mention that should be on the list of writers. (Not the latter day DEI writers of today but the proven ones from yesterday.
You're right, but it's not even that. It's that they've stopped making them for the original comic book fans because they want to make product for every demographic to be inclusive, effectively pissing so much in your own punch bowl that it has no flavour anymore. Rather than make movies of comic books for the fans who read them, they listened to the femin ists, ra ce repre sentation groups, sex ual orient ation groups, snowflake groups... all of which predominantly don't buy movie tickets to these films or buy the expensive merchandise that goes with it. This is effectively how everything was destroyed everywhere.... And just to add, people of diversity, colour, sex ual orient ation and all those other groups were never excluded - they too read those old comics and loved them - it's just that the minorities of all those groups who's feelings were hurt because there was no 'representation' stomped their feet that studios changed for them. In the old days people enjoyed comics because they saw themselves in those characters, they identified with them, and that identification was in the form of overcoming obstacles, staying true, having a code - traits we admire and aspired to. It had nothing to do with actual identification - nobody could ever be superman, but we admired his character - he didn't have to be a cross dressing As ian bis exu al school girl with a limp to represent somebody... When did the world lose its way?!
Sony just does not know how to consistently make good films. They have done pretty well with Spiderman, but every other character has been awful. The female ghostbusters, Mobius, Madame Webb, Venom ugh! They have as bad of a reputation as Marvel now after they went w o k e and that's saying something!

1:46 Amy Pascal may not be innocent in this (she is only involved in the not-so-beloved Venom trilogy within the SSU) but she also produces some critically acclaimed Spider-Man movies such as the Spider-Verse and the Tom Holland trilogies. You should blame this lot to Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach (not to mention the meddling Sony execs) for this mess.

I look back to She-Hulk and how that show was fumbled. How She-Hulk should have been a gateway show to introduce a never-ending number of heroes and villains. And I can't help but see She-Hulk in these movies. These movies could have been much better than they are, and they're not even that good to begin with(don't get me started with Madam Web). This was a missed opportunity to not use Kraven to fight the MCU Spider-Man that will be one of Peter’s Greatest Fights of Survival, instead we got another spinoff nobody ask and Theaters are making the smart choice and it kills this Abomination of a Universe, sadly for now, I feel like I might have been too harsh on Spider-Man 2, the Game has Flaws but Kraven was one of its Redeeming Qualities because the Thing about Imnsoniac Kraven is that he’s the most Accurate and Darkest Version of the Character, he rather died by a even powerful enemy than a Human Weakness such as Cancer or even his Family which he had Killed by the Way, his Wife and even his Children, while it’s unclear if one of them survived, one thing is clear, Kraven lives in the Hunt and enjoys being a Predator, he’s literally the Embodiment of Savagery and Animalistic with Zero Human Qualities, Peter is the Man while Kraven is a Monster.
Kraven is one of the spidey's villain that can work as solo movie because he isn't really a villain to begin with, and even that, they blew it, they even manage to get an actor that look like Kraven to play it, a perfect casting and they still blew it.

I think that was originally how Kraven was competitive against Spider-man back in the Stan Lee stories - he took a potion, that increased his strength and speed etc, and saw Spider-Man as his ultimate challenge. Unlike this films presentation I don't think he was an assassin or mercenary as such, he was just travelling the world and hunting the most challenging or interesting game he could find, always looking for his next great challenge. Now granted, today you would need to add to that, expand on it a little, but as a character Kraven was a man who came from another era, he had his own set of principles, and sat aside from the modern world and its politics. He was _searching_ for something in life....
He got his powers as part of a ritual potion in the original comic, in this it was more sciency and trying to make him "lion man." His original potion was supposed to be more like a much weaker version of the super soldier serum (which the KGB took to modify to be closer to the serum in the comics).

We should've had a movie based on Kraven's Last Hunt. If you're gonna make a movie about Kraven being the protagonist, make it R, and have it be related to Spider-Man, just do that. Like that is one of the best Spider-Man stories and Kraven is the protagonist (not hero) of that.
It's officially confirmed that Sony wasn't restricted from using any kind of Spider-man in this universe. They were allowed to use Spider-man, even Peter regardless of Brand confusion, they just chose not to. Hopefully you can cleanse your brain by watching Sonic 3. Keanu Reeves as Shadow will save Christmas cinema.

Lifelong Spidey fan, my all-time favorite superhero, none of his rogue's gallery is worthy of standalone movies. They only work as support to him ... and that includes Venom.
The Foreigner doesn’t have superspeed. He can hypnotize you and reposition himself in a way that makes you think he’s super fast. The movie did a poor job of showing how it works. The hissing is supposed to be static when he uses his ability which is a dumb addition
Sooooo... what I'm getting from this is that he's more Vixen than Kraven, and that we're officially at the point of a cycle where the stunts are so obviously there for flash and primarily wire work that the reasons why the look became popular in the first place have been entirely lost in favor of relying on the Rule of Cool. (Realistically, we've been headed there since Arrow Season 4, which was in like 2016, but from the sound of it we're in the heat of the worst of it now). P.S. Rather than make movies of comic books for the fans who read them, they listened to the femin ists, ra ce repre sentation groups, sex ual orient ation groups, snowflake groups... all of which predominantly don't buy movie tickets to these films or buy the expensive merchandise that goes with it.
This is effectively how everything was destroyed everywhere....
And just to add, people of diversity, colour, sex ual orient ation and all those other groups were never excluded - they too read those old comics and loved them - it's just that the minorities of all those groups who's feelings were hurt because there was no 'representation' stomped their feet that studios changed for them.
In the old days people enjoyed comics because they saw themselves in those characters, they identified with them, and that identification was in the form of overcoming obstacles, staying true, having a code - traits we admire and aspired to. It had nothing to do with actual identification - nobody could ever be superman, but we admired his character - he didn't have to be a cross dressing As ian bis exu al school girl with a limp to represent somebody...

Sony just does not know how to consistently make good films. They have done pretty well with Spiderman, but every other character has been awful. The female ghostbusters, Mobius, Madame Webb, Venom ugh! They have as bad of a reputation as Marvel now after they went w o k e and that's saying something!
Columbia Pictures was once a great studio way back in the day, but this is what happens when you get bought out by a big corporation...you turn to shit. 20th century Fox(Disney), Paramount (Viacom) MGM (Amazon), Universal(Comcast), and Warner Bros. (Whoever the fuck owns them now).
Here's your problem, you were bamboozled into thinking that the Spider-Man films were 'good'. All you saw was 'Peter Parker' and off you went, giving them money. The source material they were using meant nothing to you. No Way Home is even more proof, all they had to do was put the three Spider-Mans together and people couldn't drop they pants fast enough or throw their wallets hard enough at it.

1:46 Amy Pascal may not be innocent in this (she is only involved in the not-so-beloved Venom trilogy within the SSU) but she also produces some critically acclaimed Spider-Man movies such as the Spider-Verse and the Tom Holland trilogies. You should blame this lot to Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach (not to mention the meddling Sony execs) for this mess.
Sony could have just done "maximum carnage" trilogy using some of these characters and tom Holland spiderman and comic book lore and LAUGHED all the way to the bank. Wtf ?

I look back to She-Hulk and how that show was fumbled. How She-Hulk should have been a gateway show to introduce a never-ending number of heroes and villains.
And I can't help but see She-Hulk in these movies. These movies could have been much better than they are, and they're not even that good to begin with(don't get me started with Madam Web). I don't know these characters, and I don't wanna know them because of these movies.

At this point I want James gunn to get involved in Sony now as hes a Huge Marvel Fanboy aside from DC. Say what u want about the man but hes a great visionary and has said he loves Spider Man and his Rouges Gallery. Also agreed Arron is a great Kraven hell he was so good as him Im hoping he appears in a future Spiderman Movie.
This was a missed opportunity to not use Kraven to fight the MCU Spider-Man that will be one of Peter’s Greatest Fights of Survival, instead we got another spinoff nobody ask and Theaters are making the smart choice and it kills this Abomination of a Universe, sadly for now, I feel like I might have been too harsh on Spider-Man 2, the Game has Flaws but Kraven was one of its Redeeming Qualities because the Thing about Imnsoniac Kraven is that he’s the most Accurate and Darkest Version of the Character, he rather died by a even powerful enemy than a Human Weakness such as Cancer or even his Family which he had Killed by the Way, his Wife and even his Children, while it’s unclear if one of them survived, one thing is clear, Kraven lives in the Hunt and enjoys being a Predator, he’s literally the Embodiment of Savagery and Animalistic with Zero Human Qualities, Peter is the Man while Kraven is a Monster.

Kraven is one of the spidey's villain that can work as solo movie because he isn't really a villain to begin with, and even that, they blew it, they even manage to get an actor that look like Kraven to play it, a perfect casting and they still blew it.

For how he got his powers, it sounds like they were trying to replicate Spiderman, only instead of radiation it's a magic potion.
I think that was originally how Kraven was competitive against Spider-man back in the Stan Lee stories - he took a potion, that increased his strength and speed etc, and saw Spider-Man as his ultimate challenge.
Unlike this films presentation I don't think he was an assassin or mercenary as such, he was just travelling the world and hunting the most challenging or interesting game he could find, always looking for his next great challenge. Now granted, today you would need to add to that, expand on it a little, but as a character Kraven was a man who came from another era, he had his own set of principles, and sat aside from the modern world and its politics. He was _searching_ for something in life....
He got his powers as part of a ritual potion in the original comic, in this it was more sciency and trying to make him "lion man." His original potion was supposed to be more like a much weaker version of the super soldier serum (which the KGB took to modify to be closer to the serum in the comics).

We should've had a movie based on Kraven's Last Hunt. If you're gonna make a movie about Kraven being the protagonist, make it R, and have it be related to Spider-Man, just do that. Like that is one of the best Spider-Man stories and Kraven is the protagonist (not hero) of that.

It's officially confirmed that Sony wasn't restricted from using any kind of Spider-man in this universe. They were allowed to use Spider-man, even Peter regardless of Brand confusion, they just chose not to.

Lifelong Spidey fan, my all-time favorite superhero, none of his rogue's gallery is worthy of standalone movies. They only work as support to him ... and that includes Venom.

The Foreigner doesn’t have superspeed. He can hypnotize you and reposition himself in a way that makes you think he’s super fast. The movie did a poor job of showing how it works. The hissing is supposed to be static when he uses his ability which is a dumb addition
Sooooo... what I'm getting from this is that he's more Vixen than Kraven, and that we're officially at the point of a cycle where the stunts are so obviously there for flash and primarily wire work that the reasons why the look became popular in the first place have been entirely lost in favor of relying on the Rule of Cool. (Realistically, we've been headed there since Arrow Season 4, which was in like 2016, but from the sound of it we're in the heat of the worst of it now).
P.S. I love how UA-cam suddenly has me commenting in black text in dark mode so that I have to type everything in a reply before copy-and-pasting it into the primary comment bar. This makes total sense.

This reminds me of when Warner tried a Batman universe, without Batman, it made no sense at all, they own the character.
But Sony is worse, Sony is really stupid.
A villain universe could have worked, with good writers and a clear vision of where they taking the story. Sony had neither.
And this is a huge shame cause kraven was a pretty cool spiderman level villian in the comics...not sure I wanted a full feature length movie of him though
