The Puttin’ On The Ritz music video is a creative collaboration between Alpert, artist Glenn Kaino and filmmaker Afshin Shahidi with choreographers Napoleon & Tabitha D'umo from So You Think You Can Dance and produced by Kerith Lemon. One long camera shot follows the lead dancer, Vincent Noiseux on a musical journey and features musicians Lani Hall, Bill Cantos, Hussain Jiffry and Michael Shapiro as well as corps dancers like Kherington Payne and others that have been seen on So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Best Dance Crew, Dancing with the Stars, This is It, Step Up and more.
Music video by Herb Alpert performing Puttin' on the Ritz. 2013 Herb Alpert Presents, LLC
Love the multiple cameos of Herb Alpert in this video.
The percussion is snappy, the vocals crisp, the dancers on point and I love Herb Albert's impeccable talent on the horn. The energy and humor was wonderful. Thanks to everyone!
Henri.... You certainly made a perfect assessment of this one!. I, too, love it.
Henri! I though you were dead years and years.. and years ago! Cool! Anyway I dig your paintings, dude. Very cool.
@@ergbudster3333 LOL thanks for thinking of me!
That man can dance! Never seen such fluidity.
Интересно имя танцора. Кто нибудь знает?
VINCENT NOISEUEX is the lead dancer
❤
Written by Irving Berlin in 1927 and still being covered. Truly good music has no shelf life!
The version done by Dr. Viktor Frankensteen is also a great version.
How WONDERFUL are his cameos. Viva Herb.
Great to see Herb still going strong!! Always loved his music, always will!

The man is a genius
Recorded in 2013,,,
Saw them in concert last night and this video and song was one of the highlights.
A delightful evening!
Me too (well, 7/28). Before they played it Herb told the audience to look out for a costumed gorilla. I must've watched this now a dozen times and can't find it.
A very Happy 87th Birthday Herb Alpert. March 31, 1935 Los Angeles, CA.
14 platinum albums and 15 gold albums; 9 Grammy Awards. 72 million records sold. Truely a living legend. Many more Tito / Dore Alpert...
The talent that went into this video is off the scale.
HERB ALPERT JEDEN Z NAJWIĘKSZYCH GENIUSZY W HISTORII MUZYKI
This deserves some kind of award. What a production, so creatively done.
You hit the nail on the head there. Fabulously done.
No
Yup, some pretty smooth camera work and editing.
The dancing matches the song note for note…
Definitely does - everything is absolute perfection! Go Herb and Lani too……..🤩
Great piece , I thought Herb was the bus driver. 77 and still handsome as ever. Loved it ! Thanks to everyone who worked so had to put this together.
I think he's also the bartender at the end?
and the barber
I absolutely love this video....every dancer was great 👍 especially the lead dancer. I have heard versions of this song but Herp Alpert takes this tune to a different stratosphere. Love it! Addicted to watching this video....
So cool to see Herb and Lani while enjoying the classic sound ! Great dancing and cinematography too.
Watch Taco magical hyotonjxing nagic speel.
Judging by comments, a history lesson is in order. Herb Alpert is not Louis Armstrong, Bunny Berrigan, Harry James, Cootie Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Thad Jones, Bill Chase, Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinson, Wynton Marsalis, or Byron Stripling. What he is, is, the arbiter of a sound that defined a generation with Burt Bacharach and A&M records. A great trumpet stylist, whom no one else sounds like. This piece sounds like only him. Taco, a footnote. Google Irving Berlin, young geniuses.
He makes music that everybody enjoys listening to.
Apparently he can also drive a bus!!
Also as president of A&M Records he was the most wealthy artist in the world from the early 70s to the mid 80s.
He was able to self produce his first couple of albums in the 60s, they sold well all around the world, and in the USA A&M Records even outsold the Beatles.
He also discovered the talent of Karen Carpenter when she was a studio musician he convinced her to sing the song that she was trying to sell. Convinced her and Richard that her voice was unique and he was 100 percent right!
Heard many versions of this song and seen some awesome dancing.my favorite is from young Frankenstein.
THANK YOU! Somebody had to say it! I’m glad it came out on top for all to see. This song and the music genre it represents is rich with history. Some of us, including myself were around to actually hear some the greats of that time. Your list brought back some amazing memories. Thank you.😊
WOW...that was one of the BEST videos I have ever seen!
Herb at age 77 (& wife Lani Hall) as acting bus driver, the door man and the bartender - priceless.
So that WAS him... Thanks!!

I didn't know that !
He’s also a barber.
I'm wondering if the pretty actress who shows up in the first and last scenes has any shots in the middle? Probably not. If this was all one take, there wouldn't have been enough time for another costume change...
I know people are ultra-critical of this version, but I like it. It's catchy, danceable, and just nice to listen to. Sometimes are expectations of songs, arrangements, and even the artists themselves border on the unreasonable. Herb Alpert is a trumpet player playing catchy instrumentals, some remakes and some originals. He isn't trying to be Wynton Marselis, Doc Severinsen, or Maynard Ferguson; he plays his own style (and is eclectic at that). I am a big jazz freak and dig the trumpet players that are considered tops in the field (Miles, Gillespie, Hubbard, etc.), but I can appreciate the sound of Alpert's horn and many of his tunes. Route 101, Rise, and some of his older tunes are great to listen to. His Second Wind CD produced by Jeff Lorber is still one of my favorites. I enjoyed the song, the video, and the great long camera shot (that is difficult to do). I think all of this talk about Taco's version being better and hipsters ruining everything is taking this way too seriously; it's just a fun video. If Herb Alpert is not your cup of tea, then drink another flavor and enjoy that.
Thank you. Beautifully written. Right on. Let's not be snobs---agreed. Yes, catchy, danceable, fun---what else is there!!????? Yes, Louie, Dizzy, Miles...but ...let's dance!!!
Well said!!👏👏👏
They don’t like it…they can go to hell.
What fool was even mildly critical of this?
Best choreography I've ever seen in my life...I'm 73
Perhaps the best music video of the era: Minimum editing (Alpert says it needed several takes but the master is one shot), great Steadicam work, amazing production coordination, not a dancer out of character, really tight art direction, wonderful music with the tongue-in-cheek participation of Herb Alpert himself. The energy is so high and so positive. The tipoff was the "NAPPYTABS PARKING ONLY" sign at the top of the video. After some digging, I find that NAPPYTABS has gone on to be the premier producer of massive events, fabulous dancing, with a work ethic that is impressive. This video is a treasure.
all in ONE take??
We love this video so much! The music is superb, the dancing is perfect, and whenever we need a caffeine-like high we watch this. When I was a kid, Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass were on the record player all the time, so it feels really good to see him making excellent music now.
Herb Alpert has been a favorite of mine since the '60s. Love this...love this. Watched it 2x. Lead dancer was fantastic. Great job.
А не знаете имя танцора?
I wish I could upvote this video 10 times every time I watch it.
Good to know the Tijuana Brass is still around! I love me some horns! They make everything better!
Alpert is still around, not that group.
Dang best music ever! My mom was a Brazil 66/Herb Alpert fan and I applaud her taste in music!!! This song embodies the jewels that Herb Alpert, Lani Hall and Sergio Mendez gave to us as marvelous gifts of music legend!!! Bravo to the highest degree!!!
Love the cameos by Herb and Lani.
I've listened to Herb Alfred since the 60s... He's still got it.
He has always and will always have it!
SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations of France for Mr Alpert, the great Mrs Hall, and all the dancers what a beautifull timeless tempo!!!

This video is one of 2-3 that I have to watch every day.
I regret that I can only give this a thumbs up merely one time... I feel it deserves any & all possible thumbs that have ever and will ever exist in this or any other universe👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You are so right - Herp Albert still producing fantastic music and the video is great.

doubtless Robert Altman would approve of the tracking-shot lasting for the entire video. love the choreography and the sheer logistics and rehearsal involved in this. and then there's the music...... wonderful all round!
Brilliant! Congratulations to all involved. Breathtaking throughout. Absolutely dazzling.
Classy, sassy and a must for us fans of Herb.
Sometimes all one can say is THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. You, (Herb Alpert and company) continue to make my days happier and more joyful.
The dancing is super crisp in this. Love it!!!
I watch this WONDERFUL performance repeatedly if only for the filmmaker's creativity--the one take montage is world class. WOW.
WOW... The Troupe Dancers are Fantastic...
The Filming and Editing is Phenomenal...
"PRICELESS"
WAS there any editing?
Because if there was, it was SMOOTH AS GLASS!
A brilliant piece of a very fluent choreography. Thanks for sharing it.
Just watched him live with his wife Lani and band 9/24/2019...Alpert is now 84. He's still KILLIN IT!!!! AMAZING SHOW
Even as a kid I enjoyed Hern Alpert and Brazil 66.
How in the world do these dancers remember all those steps and moves??
Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass,
Sergio Mendez and Brasil 66
That was Great, Still listening.
Brilliant choreography!
The cameos of Herb and his wife at the beginning and end of the video was probably the best part.... well done.
Herb is in there at least three times: Bus driver, barber, bartender.
@@TimothyForeman Lani Hall is seen when the man gets off the bus and of course at the end when Herb serves her a drink .
@@TimothyForeman I also noticed the young lady at the bus stop is also sitting at the bar beside Lana ,at the end of the video

I could watch and listen to Herb all day - thanks for posting this wonderful energy!
I'm gonna put some Philly cream cheese on my Ritz.
There's a reason Herb Alpert is the world's #1 richest entertainer still in 2022 at 800 million smackers. He's been orchestrating performance perfection at it's finest for 50 years and keeping up with all the changing times to do it.
Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass was and still my favorite!
Excellent choreography and there is Herb, a musical genius!
Beautiful way to bring it back to life again. A tune that is never forgettable. Great Fresh perspective.
I love seeing him at the end. Dancing is very good too.
Dear Herb.....Thanks for my ENTIRE enjoyment of the trumpet.....I wouldn't have played as long as i did (45 years now) if it wasn't for you!!! you kept me on my toes for sure!!!
Geez! This guy's still bringing the goods! I've enjoyed Herb Alpert from the 60's until 2020! Fantastic!
I AM INSPIRED! The mix of hip hop, funk and fosse is delicious...
Now, that's what I call dancing - Oh, yeah !
Thanks Herb, Lani and all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A contemporary spin on a classic tune that everyone is familiar with for one reason or another and of course Herbie's signature horn sound. The swing style dance beats and grooves are catchy and I now can't get this out of my head. My favorite aspect is the pairing with the video is spot on.
Absolutely
That was some tremendous choreography, well executed. I usually don't watch dance videos like this, but I couldn't stop watching it. Very good dancers and very interesting looking ensemble.
The man just keeps rolling jazz soul funk Cuban name it don't muzzle that trumpet let it rip always great .
I grew up listening to Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass. I was born in 1960 and Remember his Whipped Cream album vividly. We didn't have a lot of albums but I remember Whipped Cream, Dave Brubeck, Johnny Cash, Nancy Sinatra. My Dad had a very eclectic taste
Excellent synth bass sound. Didn't exist when I first started enjoying Herb Alpert back in the sixties. Maybe him and Willie and Jerry Lee will outlive us all!
The choreography is beyond amazing.
Great long shot, but let's not forget the very tasty trumpet playing by Alpert!
I grew up enjoying Brasil 66 and Tijuana Brass, so i spearheaded a three generational adventure to attend a recent concert. My father, brother, husband, daughter and I traveled many miles from three different Ohio cities recently to have a family dinner together with two more of us at a great Italian restaurant across from the Mimi Theater, part of Cleveland’s Playhouse Square.
Then we five attended the September 2023 concert by Herb Alpert and his beloved wife of fifty years Lani Hall (formerly of Brasil 66, which is how they met a few years after his divorce).
They are both talented musicians, and the three instrumentalists backing them up really helped make it a lovely event too. As a lifelong singer, I noticed that she sounded great on some but not all, which is sad. She’s 78, and he’s 88 at this writing. They both have great charisma on stage and their love is like a beacon for all of us married a shorter time. They were sweetest when interacting with each other. There was a slideshow which featured dozens of pieces of art he has created over the years, and occasionally there were video clips. I believe this video was included that night. There was no intermission and the show lasted about 90 minutes. Would that we all have such stamina when we reach those ages!
He told this funny story about that meeting during the concert. He decided that his band Tijuana Brass would benefit from collaborating with Brasil 66, and worked it out with that bandleader Sergio Mendes. Alpert cautioned his band members to remain professional and avoid too much informal fraternization with the two women who were singers in Brasil 66. Then he gave a mischievous grin and admitted it was so he would have a better chance of getting to know the beautiful and talented Lani Hall.
Don't know how I missed this video when it came out 6 years ago, but I found it now and I love every bit of it. The dancing is amazing, the music is spectacular and it makes me get off my butt and start my day in a great mood.
I saw them do this live with the video in the background and it was pretty amazing. The choreography is amazing. Also, if you watch, you can see that it's all done with a single camera. A new arrangement brings freshness to an old song.
This was either fantastically done in one shot or the video splicing is great.
Herb Alpert mentioned in his concert in Ottawa in May 2023 that this video was created in one take....wow
Six takes, but each is one continuous shot.
One take, no cuts. Very impressive. Great work all around from both the technical and performance sides. I enjoyed this very much!
Herb actually said in a concert that I attended on 6/10/2022 that they did 6 takes, but you are correct that there are no cuts in the final video. The kids on the bus had to quickly run around the block to get in position for the next scene on the sidewalk outside the studio.
Herb Alpert and Lani Hall epitomize aging with dignity, grace and style. Lani also made multiple cameos.
Давно не получал такого удовольствия. Спасибо!
Herb Alpert is the Boss! Amazing dancing.
Classic jazz standard from Irving Berlin turned into electroswing from the future, with an astonishing choreography. Simply brilliant! ^_^
With this song, Herb really was one of the originators of the new electro-swing movement.
I had not realized there was a 'movement', but if so I like it! It's been quite a while since there's been any 'new' music genre that can appeal to varied age groups!
Классно Танцуют!!!

Very Best Dance!!!

Thanks!!!
This is the Best version so far!!!!!!!!!
Glad to see Herb Alpert after all these years!
I like this a lot
Terrific choreography, wonderful Herb Alpert track, brilliant editing. This is the kind of thing that can really elevate You Tube.
I just love this video. How the hell can they remember all those moves?
My first album I bought was Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass...
Good memories...
This is freaking amazing! That's either the smoothest editing the world has ever seen, or that whole video was one continuous shot! And I love the choreography is a brilliant blend of styles.
Facts. This was done phenomenally well.😊
Lex Dunn - Alpert has explained it elsewhere. There were several takes, but no video editing. It is one continuous shot. Of course the trumpet and vocal are added.
@@GH-oi2jf er... several shots but no editing? what....does.......... that......................even meannnnnnnnnnn?
@Mike Fernandez You could have said that without the meanness.
@@2011littleguy Several shots meaning run throughs... Screw it up, do it again.
really well done, thank you so much for not ruining a classic as most "remakes" do. subscribed
These kinds of dance numbers were so common once.
This calls back to the golden age of Hollywood.
The glamour. The moves. The stars.
This makes me feel like that era is still here.
Thank goodness it hasn't gone away.
So refreshing no words no hype just music and vibe!
ONE CONTINUOUS SHOT! BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!

Not one continuous shot. Notice splicing at 2:04 and 0:15.
This video has something for everyone: an updated Irving Berlin 20s standard played with verve by Herb Alpert, some distinctive vocals by Brasil 66s Lani Hall, a pack of young energetic dancers for the 20-somethings, and the occasional Herb Alpert sighting for those of us who liked to spot the Hitchcock quickly before he disappeared from the scene.
i seen Herb Albert 10-23 He did not disappoint pure class and entertaining
Herb Alpert comes up trumps every time...wonderful...wow...great dancing as well..
Saw the show in Sacramento Sept. 19, 2019 - wow, thanks for blessing us with your music all these years- so many feeling and memories came back!!!!!
This is fantastic. More than the music itself, more than the dancing and energy even more than the one-take shooting, I love it because someone finally made a Trilby look cool.
定期的に見たくなる中毒性があるダンス😊
Love the continuous camera shot and the amount of planning it took.
Ive been. Herb Alpert fan since I was a kid...I own all his albums on vinyl...original releases...some were my bothers that he handed down to me.
Fun video and so many different scenes of creative dance groups. Loved seeing Herb as the bus driver and bar tender - - modest cameo visibility in the production. So cool.

What is left to be said. These professional dancers remind me of the movie the four horsemen all about magicians and illusions
.great choreography and cream of the crop dancers.

Боже Мой! Это Божественно! Это Чудесно и Необыкновенно! Вы Лучшие!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and beautiful. AMAZING choreography and great sound track. Very entertaining and the dancing is TRULY POWERFUL. The lead dancer, Vincente, is so attractive.
Lani still looks good! You can never go wrong listing to the Music from Herb Alpert!
