Thank you for leaving that beautiful comment! I feel the same. These are the best players (and people) in the world.
Very well put Devon. That's definitely the benchmark comment so I'll just say what a great performance (and so tight) from a great set of musicians. I always enjoy your songs so keep 'em coming. Thanks.
@@Pomplamoose Bravo. Magnifique! Merci.
Agreed. It's amazing to see the musicianship/production/arrangement skill increase in their videos from years ago to today. I really wish/hope to find a group of like minded people in my area, still searching. :(

Dans tes grands yeux noirs
Je me suis perdu
J'attends un regard
Le cœur suspendu
Je t'aime tellement fort
Toi qui me fais si peur
Est-ce un mauvais sort
Ou la mauvaise heure
Et autour de nous
Chantent les tziganes
Tout le monde s'en fout
S'enivre au champagne
Dans tes beaux yeux noirs
Je sombre, mon amour
Et mon désespoir
À leur chant est sourd
Je perds la raison
À chercher tes bras
Brûlant de passion
Viens, embrasse moi
De tes grands yeux noirs
L'étrange lumière
À nimbé le soir
De tous les mystères
Je suis fou de toi
Ma belle aux yeux noirs
Même si je ne sais pas
Où va notre histoire
C'est pour ma passion
Les yeux noirs que j'ai
Fait cette chanson
Otchi Tchernye
Merci bien!
Merci bien! Thanks for the lyrics.😊

TRANSLATION :
In your dark, black eyes
I got lost
Dans tes grands yeux noirs
Je me suis perdu
Longing for a glance
My heart has stopped
J'attends un regard
Le coeur suspendu
Now I love you so
but I fear you though
Je t'aime tellement fort
Toi qui me fais peur
Am I cursed
Is this an unlucky hour (*)
Est ce un mauvais sort
Ou la mauvaise heure
Around us
Gypsies are singing
Et autour de nous
Chantent les tziganes
Nobody cares
They are drinking champagne
Tout le monde s'en fout
S'enivre au champagne
Into your dark, glorious eyes
I sink, my love
Dans tes beaux yeux noirs
Je sombre, mon amour
And my despair
is blind to their grace
Et mon désespoir
A leur chant est sourd
I am losing my mind
from the burning desire
(**)
Je perds la raison
A chercher tes bras
Brûlant de passion
Come and kiss me
dark black eyes,
Viens, embrasse moi
De tes grands yeux noirs,
A strange light
has clothed the night
With mysteries
L'étrange lumière
A nimbé le soir
De tous les mystères
(instrumental part)
I lost my heart to you
My dark eyes love
Je suis fou de toi
Ma belle aux yeux noirs
And even though I don't know
where our story goes
Même si je ne sais pas
Où va notre histoire
For my passion,
Dark eyes,
I wrote this song
C'est pour ma passion,
Les yeux noirs,
que j'ai fait cette chanson
Óči čjórnye (Russian for "dark eyes")
Очи чёрные
Hey people !
It's just my personal attempt at a translation, but as I'm not a native english speaker, your suggestions are most welcome 🤗 Especially for (*) and (**) which feel really clumsy... Thanks for your help !
Note in the original song there was another verse, which was cut out from this version :
You are the one I choose
Though I know I should not
C'est toi que je veux
Je sais que j'ai tort
Loving you so much
Only makes me miserable
Je suis malheureux
De t'aimer si fort
Your ardent black eyes
- I can't help it -
are carelessly
burning my soul
Tes yeux noirs de feu
Je ne peux rien y faire
M'entraînent malgré eux
Dans ce doux enfer
It is nice to have your translation.,it fulfills a need to also know what is being expressed in the song.I am not native English or French, but I love to hear this song after reading your excellent translation.,a complete experience indeed

The Black Eyes " traditional Russian song was not composed by Django ... "The Black Eyes (Russian: Очи чёрные, Otchi tchornye) is a famous popular Russian gypsy traditional romance of the nineteenth century, and a gypsy jazz standard. The lyrics were written in 1843 by the Ukrainian romantic poet Yevhen Hrebinka (1812-1848), dedicated to his first wife Maria Vasilyevna.
But the French lyrics version was made by Django.
It is neither a Russian nor a Gypsy song. It is written by the German composer Florian Hermann in the 1880s.
In 1843 there were no “periferalians”. ("Украина" is translats from polish language as "Periphery") The Poles and Austro-Hungarians came up with them much later.
It's just an old Russian romance.

Mon destin me réconforte.
Le meilleur que Dieu nous a donné dans la vie,
Je l'ai sacrifié pour ces yeux de feu ! »
Est ce que c'est l'original des paroles?

I Love this bass solo!!!!!!!!
As soon as the vocalist began to sing I knew I was hearing pure art from the assembled group. Fantastic! The handclap/ bass solo was totally inspired. It took every instrument in the studio & all played so well. Blown away by this take on a very old song!
I love that the guitarist faithfully fretted with 2 fingers. what a boss!
The call of the mountains the end of summer the start of the hunt season . Playing with velocity like Django!
It would have been nice if the writers of this song were mentioned in the credits, even though it's a long story. It was not Django's song, but a Russian cabaret song originally published at the turn of the century , based on an older waltz composed by one Florian Hermann. The lyrics in Russian (translated in many languages since then) were by Ukrainian poet Yevgeny Grebyonka, dead of TB in 1848. So it's an old song...
wow thats quite a stretch
The French lyrics used in this song is quite different from the original Russian/Ukrainian version, to be honest
@@redginger4224 that's far from being a stretch. it's a famous Russian song. Many White Army emigrants settled in France/Paris after the Russian civil war and brought their culture and songs.
