About The Nanny:
Fran Drescher stars as Fran Fine, a street-smart young woman with a face out of Vogue and a voice out of Queens who stumbles onto the opportunity to become nanny to the children of a wealthy widower, Maxwell Sheffield. Soon Fran, with her offbeat nurturing and no-nonsense honesty, touches Maxwell as well as the kids.

2:10 Sylvia turned around with the death glare like “y’all best not say a word, or I will come down there”
That was always the best part!
Imagine if CC would have started to stand as Sylvia have that stare.
Someone was gonna get hurt if they said something.
It’s the part I remember the most! 🤣
Edwin J. Viera I was disappointed that didn’t happen. 😁 I lost a bet.
I can't believe how ahead of time her style was. Honestly that dress is so modern I feel like she had a time machine.
You do realise that current fashion reflects heeeeaaaavily on 90s fashion? So its not that the dress is modern, fashion trends are just repetitive. But I agree she was modern in terms of how brave and confident her style was. She owned her looks. An icon 👌🏻
Paula Pa
Despite us heavily doing the 90’s thing right now I do think it’s a timeless piece. In the 90’s they were still doing puffy shoulders and those head pieces like on friends. The stylist in this show is an icon.
Paula Pa street wear is making a return not bridal wear
I wouldn't call it modern as much as timeless or classic for a bridal gown. Hoopskirts would hardly be considered a modern style. You can see similar styles in Gone with the Wind, which was very accurate for a period piece.
ALL her style honey!!! And I think she's one of the most beautiful women in the world!
Her dress was so beautiful.
Somehow, in the mid-nineties, it managed to be perfectly romantic, timeless, and intricate. The same could not be said for wedding dresses on other sitcoms around the same time...remember Becky's dropped waist and tulle crown on Full House?
OMG. It is beautiful. When you have the top 10 wedding dress, that dress should be #1
@@valeriepark9444 Or that hideous dress that Dorothy wore when she married Blanche's uncle Lucas? LOL.
Yeah and it really suits her
@stephenr oooohhh mmyyyy gooood that IS horrendous. On the other hand, the costume designer wasn't *trying* to make her sexy, young, and fashionable, they were trying to capture her Dorothy-ness
You could wear her wedding dress today and look fabulous.

Yes!! I think it was love and RESPECT ❤
This woman was so ahead of her time when it came to fashion. This dress is so beautiful.
I like that the Jewish wedding customs are included!
You think Sylvia and Morty would be ok if they weren't?
Fran and her ex created the show! They wouldn’t overlook that lol
The shortest version of the hora in recorded wedding history!!
@@maezin1386 The Bridal Chorus was in this video. It was composed by Richard Wagner. The Wedding March was composed by Felix Mendelssohn. Two completely different songs.
Max and Fran seemed to clash a lot regarding their lifestyles and level of "seriousness" - but when it came to accommodating both religions (is Max Catholic?) they did pretty well.
The Jewish prayer was honestly really beautiful! I’m not Jewish but it moved me to tears!
same here im not jewish either. it is very touching
Sylvia is like "Y'all going to catch these hands if y'all say something" 😂
She's quite - materialistic - and it rubs off on Fran.
@@jessicalillianweinberg4401 Fran isn't materialistic she just loves things. She doesn't need them and she's proven that time after time.
My favorite TV wedding dress ever. Just gorgeous.
I agree. I'm not a fashion expert by any means but God her dress was stunning. Those sparkles though! And it was a real bridal gown from a shop in Beverly Hills which cost 12,000 dollars. I read an article where Fran described all the features on it. Just like a real wedding, she went and got fitted for it. It wasn't some "fake" dress that was kept in the Wardrobe department.
Right? I expected nothing less from Fran.
When I watched this episode growing up. I feel inlove with her entire wedding look. I told my mother I wanted the same wedding dress on my big day. The year's went by and i finally found my husband. I copied, her off the shoulder wedding dress, long veil , and her hair, flowers.
My little ones saw this episode and thought it was me. They thought I had the wedding video on. That was the biggest compliment. That they thought it was me. She looks absolutely beautiful. The most beautiful bride I have ever seen on TV.
"Miss Baaabcooock..."
"Oh, thank you Niles. But, you know, I'm not supposed to...- do that...."
"How many times have you NOT done that tonight?"
"About...eight.... Oh, Niles, now that Maxwell's taken, my life is OVER!"
"Oh, Miss Babcock, you always underestimate yourself! You have a lot to offer a man. You're witty, you're sophisticated, you're beautiful, you're sexy-"
"How many times have YOU done that tonight?"
"About twelve."
Little did they know he meant it
There was an early script of this where CC admits to Niles that at the mental health "place" she learned she was attracted to guys who hate her. He replies, "Mr. Sheffield doesn't hate you," and then she admits, "I meant you!" And then they insult each other a bit before dancing. That would have made her the first to confess the attraction. (In this version, she doesn't say all that, so he's the first one to confess, in season 6.)
Niles is drunk at 4:10 or so - but you KNOW those are his actual feelings. Actually, though, I wish Niles and CC had gotten together first and Max and Fran's wedding had been the finale. I think CC and Niles openly having a relationship in front of Max and Fran, so to speak, could have spurred Max and Fran on.
@@cristalclearmear Little did who know? I think we did.
She was not supposed to, because she was pregnant. No?
Even though Miss Babcock was supposed to be unlikeable, she actually loved Mr Sheffield. I find it kind of sad at 2.36 when she glances down at the moment Fran and Mr Sheffield kiss. It’s a subtle detail in the background, but kind of powerful, since we can all relate to watching someone we liked end up with someone else. 😔
It is yours right
@@lindacundiff4613 this!!
She loved him but she didn't love all that he came with. She didn't care to even remember his kids names! How you know someone for over 25 years and don't know such small details was wild. She loved him because she felt like she was above everyone else. So I personally didn't feel so bad for her.
It's ok, she ends up with Niles.
@@actuallyxanna774 Correct
Fran Drescher was breathtaking. So beautiful.
For a two minute ceremony.
What happened to the actress?
She’s still producing content but unfortunately, nothing as successful as “The Nanny”. During the pandemic, she had a reading on UA-cam with some of the original actors from “The Nanny”.
Everything about this is great! The dress, Sylvia’s “Don’t you *dare*” look, the hints of Niles and C.C. being in love...a perfect way to cap off the Fran/Maxwell relationship and start the pregnancy chapter! :) Fun Fact: Both Lauren Lane (C.C.) and Rachel Chagall (Val) were pregnant at this point, but it was never mentioned in the show, so they had to cover the actresses’ baby bumps up with props and baggy costumes.
I thought Rachel was pregnant during the final season. I think she gave birth a week before they shot the series finale. But you're right, Lauren Lane was VERY pregnant this season. When CC snapped and went to the "nut house," Lauren was really on maternity leave. I love how they made inside jokes about Lauren's pregnancy in one episode LOL.
I liked Sylvia's look, too - was it directed mainly at CC?
@@stevarino1989 I really think they could have come up with something better as a reason for CC to be away, especially since she was already developing a relationship with Niles by then (season 4 and early season 5), so should not have been as fixated on Max. And since Niles' pranks kind of contributed to her breakdown, it makes it weird that when she comes back, they pick up where they left off on the path toward getting together. Then, after trying so hard to hide her pregnancy, they had CC get pregnant in the finale. I don't think motherhood would suit CC, and she always said she didn't want kids. But if they were going to have her have a baby, they should have just done it here.
That (baby bumps) was the real reason Lauren is wearing a wedding dress in this scene. They justified it as, her character is pretending it's her wedding...but it doesn't really work at this point. (But it does go to my point about CC - she really doesn't care about being what most of her circle would call "proper".)
I did notice Lauren Lane (C.C.) were pregnant at season.....actually I don't exactly know which was it again (• ▽ •;), when she started wearing baggy clothes and all.
They actually showed Fran’s Dad 😸 I wish there was more scenes of him and Sylvia that would’ve been awesome

@@eviebalk3488 he's on the right, leading Fran up the aisle.
There are a couple of episodes with him making an appearance, but only two or three where he actually has a speaking-role/appears face-on. It was this running gag throughout the entire series that he was an unseen (or at least, unheard) character.

Their relationship "officially" starts in the season 6 episode "The Dummy Twins."
Do you think that they were actually having a relationship and hiding it long before that? If you remember, in "The Dummy Twins," Niles proposes to CC, she acts all contemptuous, but goes on a date with him and acts in a way that he says was humiliating, he says he is leaving, but makes a final speech that supposedly makes her see the error of her ways. (And when Fran and Max run to Niles' room hoping to convince Niles to stay, they find CC there, in bed with him; however, Niles and CC seem to be trying to sneak around for a while after that, and there's a funny (and risque) scene a few episodes later where CC finds out from Yetta that Fran and Max know.)
@ Pickle - do think that they staged all that (and were in a relationship all along, or perhaps, agreed to start one at that dinner?) I do sometimes think one or both of those things. I don't think the fight scene and ending up in bed together so soon afterwards works well, otherwise. (The interaction is weird in that episode because it doesn't account for the times throughout the series when they acted like friends or dating, but it also doesn't acknowledge that if you take Niles' insults at face value, there is no way CC would want to marry him...so, it does kind of imply that they were always friends.)
I even think that all their whining through the years about how celibate, lonely, and miserable they are could be part of the act (and maybe, pretending to be enemies allows them to manipulate Max and/or Fran? And there are times Niles openly sides with CC against Fran.) BUT I am not sure why they would reveal their relationship when they do, in the way they do, by staging that fight almost a year after Fran and Max's marriage. I thought, maybe they wanted Max and Fran to experience being scared of losing them, to make Max and Fran appreciate them more and support their relationship? I could see not revealing it until Fran and Max got married. Maybe CC didn't want all of New York society to know she was dating a "butler," and she didn't trust Fran with the secret until Fran really became family? (Except that CC and Niles had gone on public dates before that. Maybe CC and Niles even staged being lonely because they thought that would make Fran and Max want to get together?)
Remember, because of some weird things going on with the network, the finale was filmed before several episodes that take place before it - including the arc about Niles and CC officially getting together. So, the finale does not really flow from / go with the rest of the relationship episodes, and it was meant to exist without those other ones. I believe in the 90s, the finale aired before the others. So, fans didn't see how Niles and CC formally became a couple, so, yes, it would have felt like they were one all along, and all the insults, pranks, etc were part of it.
There is also definitely suggestion in the episode following this one that they spend the night together after the wedding. I kind of wish their relationship had started / been revealed first, and they had then inspired Max and Fran. (Because Niles and CC are revealed to have a lot of...passion...that I think Fran, at least, would be envious of.)
There was an early draft of this that had CC confess that at "the place" she realized she was attracted to "guys who hate her" - which means Niles.
By "the ending" you mean the final episode? At the beginning, CC says something to Niles about how they hated each other for many years - but the overall episode does indeed give you a vibe of "they've been a thing for a long time, and the insults and pranks are either an act to hide it or are just part of their relationship schtick." In that episode they do still roast each other - but they don't in the three episodes that came before but aired after - in those three, their heads are in the clouds.
And there's a funny scene in one of the season 6 episodes about their relationship, where she blurts out that they have...gotten romantic...in various parts of the Sheffield house, plus a limo and Wal-Mart. And then we see her call Niles and hint that she wants to do it at Home Depot.
See now, this is how religion should be. Working in harmony with respect to everyone involved.
I said this
Even the characters who hated Fran weren't being anti-Jewish. Not even CC.
This was one of the times we saw more old-fashioned Jewish traditions...the Fines didn't seem to be really strict "Orthodox" Jews.
"7.5 Carats"
Sylvia's very into material things, and unfortunately, it did start to show up in Fran.
The fact that Fran Drescher didn’t like the fact that Fran married Maxwell is heartbreaking. I loved that they married.
She felt that what kept the show alive was the will they/won't they tension between Fran and Max so when the ratings originally began to decline, the network heads gave her choice to either end the series at season five, or marry the characters in season five, to ensure a season six.
Them marrying was for the best. The show can't go on forever the same.
@@MediaLover194 I think it was a good desition, the kids were all grown up already and you could see they didn't need a nanny anymore and they even started to make jokes about it, so I think it was just the perfect time for Max and Fran to get together because even though it meant the show was coming to and end.. it was a good and fair happy ending. :D
I know what she means, I think any show that has a “will they, won’t they” thing is most interesting at the height of the “will they won’t they” and starts to get less interesting once the couple finally gets together. However, I’m glad they had Fran and max get married, I’d much rather this than have them drag it out for another season and have it get canceled.
I think they Sure had enough Material to fill in a seventh Season. Their NY accent in La, C. C. s pregnancy, Niles becoming a father AT his age, yettas senility and her coping with a New City, Brighton s Beach adventures with LA Beach beautys.....
The dress was gorgeous and Fran looked so beautiful!! 😍😍
I loved how much chemistry Max and Fran had.
It's funny because, after Niles and CC officially are together, there is dialogue from CC that suggests that their...physical relationship...is really off-the-charts great. But we see Max interrupt his and Fran's wedding night to complain that she's being too loud. Which is not very...passionate...of him. It's the old, fussy Max, thinking about propriety, etc. Not just caught up in being...passionate...about Fran. Well, I shouldn't say "wedding night." That's the first night they're home - after they get lost at sea on their honeymoon in "The Honeymoon's Overboard." That's a particularly over-the-top, soap-opera-ish episode that feels like someone is dreaming.
@Jessica Lillian Weinberg I meant to say their chemistry as Fran and Charles, they had such a spark since the start. Even now as friends they still seem to have that strong connection with each other. As far as that episode goes, he did not want her to make noise because he didn't want the kids or Niles to hear them, not because he was old and fussy, lol. That is why Fran wanted everyone out of the house so that they could have privacy.
@@normaflores2132 I do remember a talk show that Fran Drescher had for a while, and Shaughnessy made an appearance that seem to genuinely surprise her, and she went, "Oh my gawd! Mr. Sheffield!"

They seemed to clash a lot, actually. Chemistry in the "physical" sense, not compatibility, seemed to be what drove them.
@@jessicalillianweinberg4401 opposites usually attract and she actually helped him loosen up over the years and view life in a different and more lively way.
And to think... it wasn’t a dream 😆
Niles has a heart attack at the end of season 4, and we see him have a dream, where he is Max, both women want him, and he picks CC. I mention that because I sometimes feel like season 5 is him still in the hospital, dreaming. Because some of the episodes are just...weird, and out there, with characters acting totally...different. But not necessarily this one.

i love the nanny, you can tell when Drescher had her real life period, they would put her in pants on have her behind a counter to hide her monthly bulge did you all know daniel davis was from kentucky? Great show ya all!!!!!!!!
They're just so perfect for each other.
They seem not to have much in common, actually, and do a lot of clashing. I admit they look good together, but if we're talking about personalities, Niles and CC are WAY more alike. And, after a year and a half of mixed signals from Max, just about every episode between the engagement and this one (including this one) has Fran having second thoughts or calling it off for some reason.
Actually, the next few episodes after this are about how they have trouble making their personalities work as a married couple.

I can never tire watching The Nanny. It’s a awesome sitcom ever made
Even though I read that them getting married led to the end of their show since it eliminated their sexual tension, I was glad they did get married. I really liked their show but from watching it in reruns on a memory TV each night. I could only take too much of Fran's frustration with him. I had no idea how funny her show was until years later I watched it in reruns. This happened to me with the Senifeld show as well.
I often felt like they were frustrated with each other all the time (even when they were officially together or a couple) and didn't really like each other. You would think all those years of frustration, as you put it, would have kind of, well dampened her enthusiasm, made her fall out of love with him...and, in fact, she did try to back out several times, after the proposal and before the wedding. They even implied at one point that he slept with another woman during the years he had Fran "dangling." But it's hard to believe she put behind her everything he did /didn't do. On the other hand, she did some things that might have made me understand his not wanting to be with her (except, those weren't the reasons he was holding back.)
Some things that happen in season 5 (which is this in) are so bizarre (or out of character) I feel like one of the characters is dreaming.
And, I'm not sure if this was intended to be shown as a consequence of Maxwell's behavior or not, but the character of Fran deteriorated over the years and lost many of her good qualities. In the beginning she had some spunk and street-smarts, did things her way "against the rules" and got good results - made high society people like her by being natural instead of acting all high society. But she became increasingly desperate and needy about men, especially Max, but she just wanted to be married to someone. She became insecure, and came off as incompetent, with Max having to teach her things and bail her out of scrapes. She had some very mean, nasty moments. She kind of followed Max around whining and begging for attention without doing the things that had made her intriguing (beguiling) to him in the first place. CC actually came off as the more independent of the two. At least she could be very take-charge and in control when it came to money and the business (and actually, Fran often messed up business endeavors that CC would have succeeded with, offending CC's business contacts, etc.) And I don't really see positive changes in Max or the kids because of Fran.
I felt like they moved from having Max (in the early years) just unable to let go of his first wife, (and therefore, not jumping into a relationship with Fran because any kind of relationship felt disloyal to him) to "afraid of commitment" in a more traditional sense...actually wanting to have casual flings. We see him kiss someone else in season 4, and in the episode before this, he almost dumps Fran for once having accepted his brother's proposal - until CC(!) points out that HE (Max) "has a roving eye," ogles HER (CC), and hasn't been for the five years...it's implied that he actually slept with someone (despite telling Fran in season 4 that they can't sleep together because that's getting serious.) That episode is also about Max's bachelor party...which, he does protest about at first, but he goes...and his eyes do "wander." Seems very different from the character early on.
But then, in the wedding episode, Max expresses nervousness about "living up to Fran's expectations" on the wedding night, because it's been so long since he's "been with a woman" and because Fran is "so experienced." Which always makes me think that Max hasn't actually been with that many women (before Sara or as a widower) and that what he's really been afraid of is not being able to give Fran the physical relationship she needs.
@@jessicalillianweinberg4401 I never thought that Max actually had sex with that one woman... probably some dates...

I agree she’s stunningly beautiful still at 66
Fran is an absolute beauty and her style unmatched
Hahahaha the look from Fran’s “mom” (I think) was the look of “You speak up, you’re dealing with me !!!” kind of look. 🤣
yes
most beautiful wedding dress i've ever seen
That is seriously the most gorgeous wedding dress ever. But you wouldn’t expect anything less from Fran Fine. And of course Sylvia stole the show!!
I love her dress
I would’ve killed myself going down those stairs 😂
Her dress was my dream! It’s so beautiful.
Amo la niñera, su personalidad, su ropa, su autoestima, su sencillez para mi todo un clásico a perdurado por años,
Fran had a truly breathtaking wedding gown!
Fran is beautiful!!!
