Love the dresses. I am almost 64 and I had a Skipper, Barbie, Midge, Ken, and Francie. I also had a Barbie car, which did not work out very well because the dolls did not have bendable legs, so they had to sit in a very un-ladylike fashion with their legs over the dashboard! Francie may have had bendable legs, but it has been a hot minute or two. LOL! I have been following your vids for awhile, and I love your style! Reminds me of when life was classier and simpler! Keep living your best life!
I did too!!!!! I kept them till my girls were in grade school when they added my Barbies to their collection. Sadly when they were teens they Gothed up all the dolls - including Belle, the ORIGINAL Ariel, Eric & the Beast - & my vintage dolls. The dolls looked very cool 😎 & my girls showed their creativity, but oops, there went the collectible value 😂 These were the girls’ dolls (I gave them mine) so no they weren’t somehow stealing etc.
@@teleriferchnyfain I passed mine on to my younger sister, so no collectiable value for me either! Back then we had no idea how much they would be worth, of course it is more valuable to pass them on to a loved one. Glad your girls had fun with them.
I still have my original Barbie and Skipper so I loved this video! My mom made a lot of my Barbie clothes, but not for Skipper. I'm so glad to have them, and it's nice to know patterns are still available. I love both these outfits!
I loved my Skipper. One of the outfits that I received for her on my 10th birthday in 1964 was a pair of pink shortie pj’s with a fluffy pink bathrobe and a pink teddy bear. I bought some felt and made pillows and more a little cat for her. I was in love, but I also learned to sew by sewing for Barbie,Ken, Midge and Skipper. Thank you for reminding me of a precious memory. I am grateful. I loved your Skipper’s and SewRena outfit! It also reminded me of one of Julia Robert’s Pretty Woman outfits. ❤
I love it! Highly recommend the book Doll Couture by Kenneth d king. It has some really cool techniques for making tiny Barbie clothes! It’s so great to make something like this just for fun❤ great job Sewrena!
I'm 66 and still have the one Barbie I received around age 7 , the case and some of the clothes I made. Barbie is not in great shape because I trimmed her hair thinking it would grow back.
I knew that was a skipper as soon as I saw it. That is the doll I had, my sister had the barbie with the bob haircut and she colored her hair black with mascara to have it look more like her.
SEW great! I love your appreciation & dedication to classic clothing and classic Barbies! I have a bit of a classic Barbie collection myself and you have reinspired my interest in Silkstones as well as sewing!
Oh my! Those dresses manage to be both cute and stylish, which isn't easy to do! Skipper looks great in the multi-color polka dots, and Barbie looks as chic as you always do.
You never fail to surprise me! I love your doll clothes almost as much as I love your "Big-Girl" clothes! For just a sweet moment I was transported back to my childhood, when life was idyllic and there were no problems!! Thank you so much for a delightful journey to a long ago past!❤❤
You definitely could open your own Etsy shop for vintage style doll clothes. All your mini fashions are fabulous! My vintage Skipper has the Titian hair. She also has a brother. They must be twins because they're bodies are the same, just different heads....You're inspiring me to hunt down doll clothes patterns and start sewing again. My mom made me lots of Barbie clothes in the 70s. She got quite creative cutting patterns down to fit Skipper and Francie!
I LOVE that polka dot dress, I want one for myself! SO SO CUTE! I wish I still had some of the barbies I had when I was a kid with their 80s bronzed skin and long crimped hair LOL...
I had Francis and I think I had skipper. My mom sewed me a few dresses. Now I have to figure out if I still can find those. What great memories! Thank you ❤
Thank you for this video. Sewing doll clothing is how I practice and learn various techniques required for making larger garments. You are right to call it a palate cleanser. It’s like a quick reset button when you are stumped or have a sewing block. I don’t have a lot of vintage patterns made in my size nor have I yet acquired pattern drafting and adjustment skills so it is a treat to be able to make the garments and still have them be a part of my collection this way. Your Skipper looks lovely. Thanks for sharing what the Silkstone is like. I have been interested in the reproductions but have been nervous about whether the material suits my style of play.
Love their outfits they are too cute! I had a Skipper in the 60's, also had a Barbie similar to yours. My Barbie had plastic hair and three different style wigs. I've not seen any like her since. I had the best dressed dolls in town as my mother would make them outfits from her sewing scraps as well. ❤❤
This Skipper is so cute. I like the ribbon ties too, which are better for the environment,, I hope Mattel will try to use less plastic in the future. Your Christmas barbie looks great in that dress and coat! How sweet they have matching dresses now.
I make doll outfits and sometimes plastic dolls absorb dark dyes. the greatest risk is if you have polyester fabric because both the doll and the fabric are plastic the plastic dyes bleed across. but even with cotton fabric there's the risk they used a dye that works on both organic and synthetic so it's worth either making her a little slip out of white cotton lawn or lining doll clothes with white cotton lawn. or just wrap a little bit of white something around her body under the dress so it doesn't sit right against her skin. the risk is low with cotton but it's worth considering.
I had her!!! Along with the Barbie who had wigs you could change . Along with that one coat you made except mine was red velvet with the pillbox hat to match. Love e erythong you make. Very talented.
I’m 69 and I have that exact Skipper I received in 1964. I also have my bubble Barbie and Midge and blue patten leather case. I also have my Betsy Mc Call doll from 1957. I have clothes for all of them made by my two aunts who both had only boys.
Oh man, I didn’t know there was a reproduction Skipper! I bought a vintage one and a vintage Skooter for my two granddaughters who they look just like. They don’t understand how cool they are and especially how much I paid for them!
Oh my god! I randomly saw this video. I was born 1988 but not allowed to receive barbies as presents and only played with random old worn out dolls i found on the flea market. And i remember this swimming suit! I was always wondering about its strange shape and what it was meant for. Now i wonder if my mom, who was the one to hate barbie and everything US and western, had this barbie as a kid, she was born 56, so that would make sense. Only thing that doesn’t is how you can hate that is fun for your child when it doesn’t hurt you and isolate your kid like this. Thank you for the enlightenment!! ❤
We didn’t have a lot of money growing up so my sister and I made do pretending to order Barbie’s from the Sears catalog. I was the little sister so I had to “get” a Skipper. My lovely, bossy sister died young so thank you for the memories!
Love your video and would love to get the new 60th Birthday Skipper. ❤. Im curious to know how she compares in size to the original Skipper. Is she a little smaller ? Also her hair looks really lush and maybe a little fuller?
So cool!😍I got a brunette vintage 1959 remake barbie, 30th anniversary from 1994 for Christmas and I wanted to get more clothes for her! She’s just in a swimsuit! I was unsure where to get more clothes. Maybe I can order barbie clothes from you?👗

Hi, i know this comment isn’t related to this video, but i wanted to post it anyway. My aunt and i have some vintage sewing supplies that we thought you might be interested in. Some zippers, beads, buttons, and other odds and ends. We don't want anything for the except for them to find a good home with someone who will use them. If you want them please let me know where to send them. I'll look for a reply to this message. Thanks, and i love watching your videos. You are always so chic. Thanks for being you!
I'm in my late 60's. Named our dog after Skipper. Loved this video!

So cute
What a great mental/emotional reboot/refresher🧡
So cute! My grandma taught me to make my dolls dresses of their own when I was 5 so it's always had a special place in my heart as a sewing project.
My grandmother used sandwich toothpicks and knitted clothes for my Barbie and Skipper dolls. Unfortunately they did not survive my childhood.
I find your sewing, top notch. LOVE your kitchen too. Never had a Skipper, she is really cute❤😊
So adorable! If you make a lot of these little outfits, could you make a fashion show video at the end of the year?

So cute I have these patterns similar to Barbie fashion in the early 60s. When you sew it's easy to use straight foot single. Have a 1/8 on the edge.

Adult doll collector here. Display dolls get very dusty. You may end up washing her dress more than you think.
Especially with the second dress, Skipper could actually wear her little OG shorts (for modesty!) 😊
