I just purchase two 60th anniversary Allan doll, I’m very happy to purchase them. My very happy to and own classic reproduction doll. The Allan doll I have is full plastic-ish paint head. Which I’m find with it and glad I got to have one.
I just bought this Ken online, can't wait to get it! I have the 2013 "My Favorite Ken" repro and I absolutely adore him! I grew up playing with Kens in the early 90s, but I'm obsessed with the vintage ones!
Your original Ken doll is the thin browed one - Mattel made a few different flocked Ken dolls between 1961 -1962. The very first Ken was the flocked hair thick browed doll.
I am enjoying your collecting adventures. Your 1961 has the revised face spray, the first '61 Kens had 2 different face paints. The earliest had the face paint much like the new Silkstone repro with the fuller brows and lips. The change showed up in 'brownette' Kens later in '61, like yours, with thinner more arched brows. But some 'brownette' Ken's can be found with the fuller brow. The silkstones are pretty well done...
I was gonna say his vintage ken has very nice eyebrows I been trying to find a ken online with a similar face but no I almost did but forgot about the bid lol I'm tempted to buy a repro ken dye it Burnette and hope I get the same I eyebrows
Just to let you know!!!! I did get two fashion pack outfits for Ken doll at Dollar Tree today for $2.69 for both packs!!! And they are Mattel !! One came with shoes!!!
Hi! I ove your site I grew up and collect vintage I' m currently working on restoring our childhood vintage brunette Midge I just got this Ken I'm a little disappointed he didn't come with the jacket which was lined for the flock haired Ken I'm thinking of dressing him in my vintage Ken I have a brunette that needs flocking Your posts are fabulous! I'd like to try and find more vintage outfits especially for Ricky
@@somelikeitvntg Thanks for your update. Although he has a greasy residue on his plastic skin, lol, I'm going to add him to my collection. I did some research on youtube. To occasionally remove the greasy residue, a paste of oxi action can be made. Cover his flocked hair, apply the paste to his face🧖🏼♂️ (like with a clean makeup brush) and leave for an hour and remove with a damp washcloth. Dry. And he's as good as new again 💁🏼♂️✨
Is his face notably shiny or oily? I heard he gets this way when it’s too hot and I’m worried cuz I ordered mine in the middle of summer too (n I live in cali)
His face did come oily. Most of it came off with wiping it with a paper towel. I also noticed the rest of the shine goes away after a few weeks of leaving him out of his box in room temperature.
While I very much like the doll I still wonder why they failed to release him with some nice fashion . Such a significant milestone und just bathing trunks - of course I can always dress him in some vintage fashion. Other than that be is a great addition to a vintage as well as reproduction collection.
I think they did a terrible job with the face on the repro Ken. I cant stand it. I have original kens from the 60s. Even repro barbies faces look different than the original
I love all of your reproduction dollars. I’m in the process of replacing a bunch of my dolls that were ruined earlier this year. Are you on Instagram or Facebook? Excellent job on your reviews. Love watching your channel. Hope you’re having a great holiday season.😊🙏

Hello! Thank you. I definitely lack the knowledge of a seasoned vintage collector, so it’s nice to learn from viewers!

how fun! I’m also bummed it didnt come with the little shirt. Happy restoring! Hope they come out lovely 💕
What a nice, honest review. How is his face at the moment? I love how you added his original vintage jacket. I still want to add him to my collection.
Oh his face looks greasy lol. You can get him for like $30, so the price reflects what you get I guess haha

Oh cool! thanks for the tip. Luckily none of the other silkstone repro dolls suffer from this
Yes luckily not. Hoping Silkstone Midge is also free from this greasy residue🤞🏻

Yes, I agree. I imagine it was a way to cut costs. He looks great in vintage fashion!
Were you be able to get Merman Doll?
I was not! I missed that one
i prefer the reproduction.
The silkstone really does it for me.

Noooo it’s not. That’s racism
