Awesome update! Even though all the wires going down isn't the most prototypical, I still think it looks awesome! And I understand you're frustration, keep up the great work!
Great details! The slide detection fence is not modeled often, but adds a lot of visual appeal and makes it clear you're in *real* mountains! I drive past switch heaters on the Union Pacific every day, and you have nailed the look. Now all you need is a propane tank to supply fuel for it. Well done!
Thanks for the details on the slide detection fence. I am planning to put one of these on my N scale layout and your photos and comments have given me some good clues as to how to go about it - we don't have any of them here in Australia and not many photos available for me.
I aspire to reach this level of detail. Thank you for adding to the long list of videos that remind me of my ultimate goal. I only hope my abilities can come close to matching yours.
Thanks for the comment! You know, I was just talking with Greg McComas of MAC Rail Products...and looking through the catalog I recognized your profile picture. Just checked out your channel, and it's awesome!!! You have quite the layout, and a superb and well-weathered equipment collection. Love the balance of road/local/yard operations. I have lots to watch now. -Cam
@@railfan220 hey thanks Cam!! Much appreciated!! Your layout is an inspiration!! Your scenery is absolutely amazing!! We are about half done our CTC install, then a couple more big rebuilds and we will start getting the foam shaped and some landscape to take shape, maybe next year. Please keep the videos coming, you explain things very well!! Keep in touch! Cheers Wade
I love fine details when it adds to the scene without looking over the top, you're doing all the right things to add to the realism. Some UK modelers seem to get a bit carried away with things such as road workers, emergency services, fires and welding (LED's) etc making the scene too busy to be realistic for my liking. I'm sure when I make a start on my model railway I'll make plenty of mistakes.
I know what you mean about it feeling too cluttered. Everyone's taste is their own, and at the end of the day it is a model...not reality. But I tend to agree with you. I've tried to limit the details added hear to what I've actually seen photographed at this location or similar. And I continue to make many modeling mistakes. I'd argue that "mistake" is really just another word to describe the process of getting better at achieving one's modeling goals. Thanks for the comment! -Cam
Man, I wish I remembered. This was a train show purchase, so I don't know what the original kit was. I've since modified it by ripping off the footings it came with and replacing them with scale post legs. I think Walthers has some similar kits (look up "HO trackside equipment shed"). -Cam
Correct. I carve them out of pink insulation foam. I'm actually editing a video on that topic right now. Expect to see that video within the next week. -Cam
You are your harshest critic. Fantastic work, Cam. Absolutely blown away by how this scene has come together.
By far - some of the best detailing I think I've seen on a model railroad. Amazing stuff Cam, thanks for sharing. - Steve
Awesome work on the details. The slide fence looks stellar!
Love the lighting, the layout detail, everything about it, excellent video!!! -Ken

Fantastic work as always, your rock work still amazes me, love it. All those details bring the scene to life on a modern day railroad.
Great job as always.
