The string is how you sharpen/lengthen the pencil. It pulls off the layers of paper that surround the lead.
It reminds me of a grease pencil or China pencil…not sure it’s even an actual cosmetic product she’s using
It's a wax pencil made for wood working. You can pull the string and it will expose more wax.
