I got my first van with all the Adrian Steel stuff and a couple of my key machines from a locksmith that was selling his business but I wasn't interested in his business part of it. I shopped around for a lot of my used equipment online and by calling local locksmith businesses for sale to see if they wanted to pay with some of their inventory and equipment. A lot of the odd and hard to find parts or old hardware and tools was given to me by an old retired locksmith that walked up to my van while I was making a car key in a parking lot. He told me to follow him to his house because he has 50 years of his locksmith business in his garage. Once there he told me to take anything and everything I wanted as he had no use for any of it! I was pretty darn grateful and still have and use a lot of the stuff I was given. Unfortunately, he passed shortly after. I still remember the day he approached my van like it was yesterday even though it was over 10 years ago. What a kind man he was. #lockboss
I found this business online and their info details their history. It was originally started in 1995 and renamed to the current name in 2004/5. Seems pretty nice. One of the better ones for sale that you've done. Hopefully it's one #Lockboss that sells to another #Lockboss.
Interesting to hear both of your opinions on buying and owning a business. Maybe a possibility for a future video, like the ins and outs of running a locksmith business. #Lockboss
Hey Lock father, great to see you ,and here your thoughts, hey pj .fantastic video my friend more up scale in the bay area ,the machine and the van is actually the only thing that makes it interesting,,great idea if your just wanting to make a living but adding employees workmen comp ,insurance.etc..maintenance, just do your homework, owner finance would be the only way ..🌴🐊😎
I found my best deal at a locksmiths estate sale now in the process of taking your locksmith training program through SOPL so I can start a part time #Lockboss side gig.
Lots of great info in this. It sounds like a great deal and giving 3 months of training could work well if they are also providing resources to assist in the future. #Lockboss
I’ve been a locksmith for 23yrs since my senior year of high school & and automative locksmith for the past few years & I’m constantly learning new things I didn’t know. I know that whoever buys it better have some sort of experience because after 3 months is up their going to be lost running around like a chicken with its head cut off 😂 3 months may be long enough for an experienced person to maybe get acquainted with the existing customer base etc but that’s not enough time to train someone fully. #Lockboss
I get a lot of stock from retiring locksmiths or estates. I’ve got thousands of blanks for short money at times. Prime equipment on that business though. #LockBoss
130k is a steal for this business, in this #lockboss's opinion. The times-revenue method alone makes this attractive (basically one year, like you said), plus the assets and training. Small businesses for sale like this are niche products though, making finding the right buyer a challenge.
They're selling the business, the brand, local phone number, not the skill set or a van which can be outfitted elsewhere. Not odd at all, the business has a value in that locale, move it to a new town and it is worthless as it has no reputation amongst local folks...you're now the newbie.

I wish I could of bought someone’s established biz #lockboss
Sounds like a great deal but definitely would be negotiating for this business. #Lockboss
#Lockboss. Cool discussion. Curious about if they are moving out of state, why not start in new state. Just sell off the customer base.
Lock Father is a little younger than I am and I always like to hear what he has to say 😀 #LOCKBOSS
Good video, thanks #lockboss
Looks like a good #LockBoss opportunity for California. Maybe #LockFather wants to expand his footprint west?

You need to get Dan Platta on your podcast. He's on UA-cam and Facebook
It’s weird that there not selling there stock.
#lockboss
mobile locksmith moving but won't take it with them?? this seems odd. I run a '19 Caravan, it's ok. would be nice to have full van size. #lockboss
One thing about the Caravan, you can't beat the purchase price and you really can squeeze a lot in there if you try hard enough.

The problem with buying a lock shop is they want out. Hence why the hang out for 3-6 months. Not enough time to train for success. #Lockboss
#Lockboss questionable choices. Sounds good right?
Wouldn't give you 5 cents for anything in the southern California bay area 😂 I'm a Texas #Lockboss !!
