  • Updated highlights of Maurice Clarett's magical 2002 season at Ohio State. I added the Kent State and Northwestern games from the original reel, and hopefully made the video cuts a bit smoother. Clarett was a special player, and helped push the Buckeyes over the top that season making all sorts of plays, including the famous strip of Sean Taylor in the National Championship game. Clarett was one of a kind, and I hope this reel does justice to just how good he was. Enjoy!
0:00 175 yards, 3 TD in debut vs Texas Tech
1:51 2 TD vs Kent State
2:40 230 yards, 2 TD vs Wazzu (Breaks Robert Smith's freshman rushing record)
    4:34 104 yards, 3 TD vs Indiana
    6:10 140 yards, 2 TD vs Northwestern
7:06 132 yards, 3 TD vs San Jose State
    7:47 133 yards vs Wisconsin
8:24 1,000 yards rushing (Penn State)
    8:46 Purdue highlights
    9:09 119 yards, 1 TD vs Michigan
    13:10 Miami highlights
    13:48 Strips Sean Taylor
    14:25 Miami highlights continued
Shoutout to ‪@steelbuck6777‬ for a lot of these cuts! Subscribe to their channel, and check out all the great CFB content!

I suspect that no one asks "what if" more than Maurice himself. How good could he have been? Boggles the mind.

One of the best RB I've ever seen. Some don't remember he missed multiple games and still broke the freshman rushing record. He was the number one reason the Bucks won that national championship

@@cdubirving8565He’s the best that I’ve ever seen and I have no doubt that if he’d stayed focused and gotten better career advice he’d have won a Heisman and been an All-Pro. Maurice was a prodigy in Ohio going back to his freshman year in high school. Everybody in the state knew who he was, his stat lines versus some of the absolute best competition in Ohio at the high school level were routinely 250+ yds rushing with multiple scores. Best combination of runner vision, short-area quickness, tackle breaking ability and ability to change direction without losing speed that I’ve ever seen. The only thing that he lacked was sprinter speed but he was still fast and really was the total package. Even a really good receiver!

I don't care who disagrees...Maurice Clarett is a top 3 most impactful PLAYER in OSU football history. He played one year as a true freshman and all but CARRIED that very good but not great OSU team to it's first National title since the Woody Hayes era. I know he made some terrible mistakes, but NO ONE can take away what he did and meant to that 2002 OSU team.

He was a freshmen phenom who helped lead Osu to their first national title in 34 years. Then he got into trouble and was in the news for the next 3 years even thought he wasn't playing anymore. He then tried to come back and was actually drafted in the 3rd round by the Broncos. But he never even got on the field and was running with a bad crowd and ended up in prison after being pulled over with several loaded guns.

Ohio State had the best offensive line in college football history that year, he only ran a 4.78 forty at the combine and was usually caught down field before he scored, he never played in the nfl for a reason he wasn’t that good

Def had an unorthodox running style and not much top end speed. Not sure he would have really translated to the nfl but he was fun in college and I think he got some bad advice along the way.
