    That white vinyl 3-rail fence is nice. Stuff ain't cheap either. Looks real good. The cement work there is on point, too. That's a big pour.

      It's gonna look even better after someone goes blasting through it. Not sure they'll be sharing the sentiment about the cement at that juncture however lol. It does look good though!

    Great review. Very thorough. Enjoyed hearing about the differences and the riding feel between the standard and the works edition was very well articulated.

    So the rocket ship has even more power now? LOL. Anyway, yes, a beautiful bike, I probably would like the suspension mods the most and I am sad to see basically stock triple clamps on an otherwise trick bike. Thanks for the thorough review.

    I got a 2021. Major manufacturers are making such small changes on these machines now and every single review there’s always something “better” or “more or less ridged”. They can only get so good being a dirtbike. That’s like the 17 kx450 shootout with the Showa SFF air suspension, it was 3 steps backwards but yet the shootout said how good it was lol

    I can hear the disgust in his voice when he's being positive about the Honda. MXA has never been objective about their reviews. Ever since their 2006 Shootout they put Honda last & that bike was the gold standard of the 1st gen 4T's.

    Great review, it’s good to see they are taking steps in the right direction.
    I picked one up and am going to send the ECU to Twisted Development to get some more snap out of it.

    For someone who doesn’t race at the track but just wants an aggressive bike for the dunes, would the works with the smoother engine be recommended or maybe the crf450r-s with that 2020 motor be more recommended since it is a more aggressive motor?

    Thanks for including horsepower numbers unlike other reviews. I seem to recall the 2019 crf450r made 60.21hp. Does that sound right compared to the oomph from this one?

      It’s 60 at the crank not the wheel. Even though they say that’s what their dyno read, they actually use a mathematical formula to estimate the power at the crank in order to say they have more horsepower than they actually do. It’s the reason they say 450s now have similar or slightly more hp than the 500d which have 55-58hp which is a true output at the wheel and would be over 60 at the crank

      Since they finally changed to hydraulic they can now run heavier clutch springs meaning it'll now take the abuse and having a good basket is nice too as every Japanese clutch I've seen seems to be made of butter and start to notch way too quick 😬

    • @Sleepy.Time.
      @Sleepy.Time. 2 роки тому +3

      @@codenamenoob4973 yeah they refuse to not use cast alloy clutch baskets that have the life span of a house fly, and as you say for the longest time the marketing guys would insist on a super soft clutch for the showroom appeal that would start slipping from day one of use

    how does this compare to KX450SR Works Edition? face off? Why doesn't yamaha make a works edition yz450f?

    • @jonathondavis170
      @jonathondavis170 2 роки тому +2

      Yamaha DOES make a works edition - they just do things a little differently. They sell the YZ Monster Energy Edition and they want the customer/consumer to build it how THEY want through their warranted GYTR Parts program....and the great part is that you can go as big or little as you want with them offering GYTR Ported Cylinder Head assembly to FMF Exhaust, to the GYTR YZ high compression racing piston...it's all there and you can buy as you go, or just pay for all of it at one time and bolt it on. :)
      Check out the Swap moto 21' Works Edition shootout to hear the engine and see it...I believe Yamaha really looks out for their consumers the most in pricing too! (Even though I own a 22 Honda CRF450R-S that's getting built by Chad @ XPR, and a 19' TM Racing EN300ES 2t that's fully engine modified). I sure miss my Yamaha...maybe I'll buy another one, but I doubt it because I'd like to add this bike next since I have the twin pipe...these Honda's are the most fun I've ever had on a bike - but I'm a dude who really like steering from the front in a neutral position, and I LOVE slamming banking turns!!
      But out of all of the works edition bikes, the GYTR parts make that bike the FASTEST besides if you get a Honda or KTM and modify the engine with XPR Motorsports or Twisted Development.
