This is one of the most beautiful looking SUV's in the current market. Simple and elegant. I just love every aspect on this car. I I shouldn't forget to mention about how the interior looks top-notch.

jimbush80528 It looks like they are building a plant in the States too. The more Volvos the better in my opinion. Their company was crumbling under Fords ownership, and it seems this new Chinese company is finally going to do good things with Volvo. I believe I heard Volvo bought Polestar too. So I believe its safe to say we will start to see more performance Volvos heading to the market.

I wouldn't even go to the grocery store with those tires. Anyone who drives all-seasons during winter in Vermont will not be able to even get to work and back on time. Sort of silly to conduct off-road snow testing with street tires. Like hiking in loafers

+Vermonster I honestly don't know anyone who actually buys snow tires. And I live in Utah and we get quite a bit of snow. All seasons are usually fine for on road use.

I agree with you. Those tires would be sketchy as F in New England snow on such a large car, especially in the hill towns. My mom runs 4 studded snows on her XC60, and the same on my saab.

+Nick Olsen I ran my Pirelli all seasons one winter when they were less than a year old, because I was too lazy to switch out to the snow tires in the basement. lolll Was surprised how well they did, but my confidence fell through the floor. I don't have the patience for all seasons, scary as F on ice.

My Cross climate 2 tires are absolutely amazing. ive owned the car for for 3 years now put over 100,000 Miles on it and its been AMAZING and still in 2024 looks timeless.

Hey Guys, Long time subscriber/fan. I remember years ago you use to do on/off road reviews. It seems lately if it is a SUV/Truck it is off road and if it is a car/coupe its on the track. I love the off-road stuff but can you do on road reviews as well? It may end up being a 15 min video but who cares, getting both would be awesome and really informative.

+lfsracer79 - 21 inch Pirelli Scorpion tires are great performance tires and do a great job going around a corner on dry asphalt, but they're terrible on snow, even worse than regular all season tires.

+lfsracer79 I don't see the point in testing the car in snow and ice with ''All-season'' tires. It's just a marketing scam. I don't know why anyone would use these tires. Here in Sweden you have summer tires and then you change in October-November to winter tires, either friction or with studs :p

We can clearly see that those tires have NO snow-grip at all. Snow needs either diagonal lines (50% of ascending 50% decending, grooves must not be very upright). This tire is purely for efficiency. Just take Nokian Hakkapelliitta R2 SUV and it will climb easily.

Heaven forbid that I should insult anybody's intelligence by pointing out the blindingly obvious, but, with this car producing 316hp from two litres, having a 140mph top speed and a sub 7 seconds 0-60mph time, I would respectfully suggest it is intended as a performance vehicle rather than a cross-country plugger. As such, it's tyres will always be high speed orientated.

  • @haxpet

Put better tires on the car amd try again. The car can't be blamed for no traction if you use crap tires.

  • @Abbbb225
    @Abbbb225 6 років тому +1

Would love to see you guys take this up gold mine hill. would also like you to focus more on how, and how well, traction control works, i.e. when one or two wheel are in the air. In this clip it looked terrible - all wheels spun. It seemed the brakes were doing very little to limit wheel spin and transfer torque. Why is that? How complicated could that be to program? Seems toyota A-Trac and all land rover systems, among others, do much better. I don't understand why every car can't do that - it's just ABS and some software. Would also like to see a comparison with this, the V90/V60 cross country wagons, and a Subaru or two (get two with different AWD systems, clutch pack vs vicious coupling) in snow. Roller tests would also be helpful to really see what's going on with the AWD - you can always incline the tests or put obstacles under the wheels to add difficulty.

In sweden there is a law of that we need to have snow tiers almost 4-5 Months every winter cuz there is snow on almost every highway

  • @danmurphy1994

Put Nokian hakkapelita 8s (Finnish studded snow tire, supposedly the best of the breed) on the cars for these tests, maybe they'd sponsor these tests and provide the tires for ya, I can't think of a better way to demonstrate the tires capability but more importantly it'd evenly compare AWD systems and certain vehicles ability to gain traction.

So there are no winter rubber to buy in the US? Can you get rubber with spikes? and how is the winters in Colorado? is it just snow on the hills or everywhere during december and januari like in Sweden?
Yeh 21" is kind of crap when it's winter, you can get 18" as the smallest for this car, way better but not perfect for winterconditions.

We test all cars with the tires that come from the factory. We have access to great snow tires, but we do not have the budget to equip all test vehicles. The snow is only in the mountains now. The snow melts in town.

The Fast Lane Car Thumbs up!
What kind of tires do you get in the US? We have alot of brand but Nokian, Continental and maby Pirelli is the best when it comes to good spiked winter tires.
At the moment winter hasnt struck yet in the bottom part of Sweden but around Christmas i bet we gonna have snow all over.

Summer tyres ? In the EU winter tyres are obligatory if there is snow. Those tyres don't have the traction to go up. Put some winter tyres and it will climb that hill. Don't know how you guys roll in the US but wtf ???

it seems that you have allseason tire under there and those suck on any area, no good on summer or winter, why even bother to use such, thou i do understand its fexibility but still no good those are.

  • @PeterOekvist

    Why do this without snowtyres?
Driving with those tyres in winter conditions here in sweden will get you a hefty ticket...and you're not allowed to continue to drive so you have to have it towed...

Old test already but still relevant (or rather irrelevant) Summer tires in winter up hill ....is is a safety standard in US? :)
Use proper winter tires or at least use proper all seasons ones (no M+S are not proper all seasons)
