Going to be where? Yellowstone or the surrounding communities? Yellowstone won't be open for weeks, which is doubtful. Communities are flooded, access to communities is limited. More runoff from snow packed mountains, right into the rivers. Unless you are going to "be there" next week to help and donate your time and labor, I suggest you avoid the area entirely.
They are now saying the southern part of the park will be opening next week. Cody, Wyoming would be your best bet for lodging. While it’s true that several towns just outside the north and northeast gates are severely damaged, towns to the east and south of the park are not. PLUS, ONE OF THE WAYS TO HELP THE AREA IS TO COME TO THE UNDAMAGED PARTS AND BE A TOURIST. This area lives and dies by tourism and the past two years of covid nonsense restrictions has already hit us hard. Now this.

That is a lot of water...my best wishes for all suffering through this. At the same time I get goose bumps watching nature in action. Action that formed the beauty of our country and continues to sculpture the planet, as it will so long as the earth exists. It is too bad that none of that water will make it into Lake Mead/Colorado River basin.
@@edlynnporter7519 Other way round. It flows south west from Colorado to Arizona and then south to Mexico where it dries up. Sometimes with extra release from the US it reaches the Gulf Of California but its a rarity these days.

Crazy weather all over the country. Yellowstone has too much rain and we are in a drought here in Northern California. I have been to Yellowstone many times hiking and backpacking, I worked in the Mammoth Hotel one summer and then four summers in Grand Teton for the Park Service, so I am familiar with Yellowstone/Teton ecosystem. Sorry to hear about this flooding in Yellowstone.and the havoc for the local people.
Everything I see here shows this must have happened many times over several hundred years. Just look at the river banks, the cross river junctions and at least two banks ,one near and one much further away. It is a gamble that mother nature always wins when you build near a major tributary like this one going into the Missouri River. We are but dust in the winds of time.
to think that we own the earth, is the biggest mistake of mankind. she has her own rules. if she says, it's enough, then there is nothing we can do about it.
Everywhere along the Yellowstone got hit rather hard. Even forks off of Yellowstone like Clark's Fork and Rock Creek. Red Lodge got flooded as well as Bridger, Fromberg, and Edgar. This decade has not been good so far.
Totally. For the river, this is all part of the plan. For the communities, not so much. I’m torn wether to watch in awe or horror. Lots of complicated feelings.
@@TightLoops working in river restoration, I am looking forward to the results and changes. Did you read Pat Clayton's (Fisheye Photography) thoughts on this, food for thought for the agencies.
It’s a great question. In the long run, nothing. Fish have evolved to survive these kinds of events. But you have to figure with the amount of debris flushing downstream there will be significant casualties.
@@kenchiison4570 ha ha ... can a fish drown if there is TOO much water ?? Probably too much mud .... but lucky for the bees .. in California, bees are now classified as fish. (yes, it's true).
@@TightLoops In the short run nothing as well. There were incredible amounts of sediment in W MT streams in '96, and the surveys afterwards didn't indicate hardly any mortality. Same with the Root in '01 when a hillside gave way and turned the river into a slurry for a month. Fishing was straight epic when it cleared.
The floods will.receed and the cleanup will happen. It was a lot of rain and snow melt, but life will go on. Impressive as it is, it's not that big a deal.
The Yellowstone flooding is not the first nor will it be the last catastrophe in Yellowstone. I'm old enough to remember the Aug 1959, 7.3 earthquake that hit Yellowstone, killing 26 people, displacing 50 million cubic yards of rock, soil and mud to dam the Madison River and displace surface levels by as much as 18 feet. Geologically active, earthquakes are more common than flooding and we should expect more of this activity in the years and decades ahead.
I once lived in Bozeman for the year out of high school until I went in the Air Force & them Missoula for 10 years. I remember my stepmom retelling that story about the earthquake you mentioned. We would get many small, nearly undetectable quakes (around 400) each year. After living in So. California for 15 years & feeling those quakes (like the Northridge quake), it is easy to be lulled to sleep and forget the powerful force of nature in such beautiful surroundings as Montana. My dad had a cabin on 20 acres in the mountains of Paradise Valley. We spent quite a bit of time there. Surreal to see the flooding. I was always more concerned about the supervolcano situation of the park. The thought of that is downright freaky.
Thank you for sharing. This should be watched by every person whining and complaining about cancelling their Yellowstone Park vacation, with no concern about the communities adversely impacted. .

Hope everyone is OK. Be warned, where we live, we get told these are 1000 year events, and then WE HAVE THEM EVERY YEAR. Plan now, this will happen again.
Yes they'll make sure it does. It's weather manipulation technology using high energy weapons. Look up HAARP.
Divert the water to fill Lake Powell, Utah, and Lake Meade, Nevada, before they dry up.

Your video was outstanding!!! Thank you kindly 🙏💖
I don’t think folks realize the intense power of the water…I lived close to Cody for over 12 years and enjoyed going to Yellowstone….. It’s so devastating to see all the flooding and damage seen in this video…
Heart breaking, I l live in a River City, and know the devastation of floods. Praying the Government goes thru and give them all the money they need. If you were planning on vacationing at Yellowstone, check out what towns are open and visit them.
Don't worry they won't. And the insurance companies won't pay out either just like in Paradise, CA.
In this case it's not just a matter of money, but the time needed to build new infrastructure. The time needed is what's going to hurt the communities, as the tourist season will be over long before the new roads are built.
I am from Livingston. Thank you......
Prayers🙏🕯
God save each person affected by this.
I was there in red lodge and Yellowstone the day before-
Went over bear tooth pass on the 11th- to Cody and back to red lodge- tried leaving out of belfry on the 13th AM-
Rock creek overflowed it’s banks-
Didn’t even know the Yellowstone flooded until later- along with the rosebud and Stillwater
Very unfortunate 😢
Well done video 👌
I have been following your channel under a different accounts from the beginning and WOW man... you guys have come such a long way with your dedication and your desire to be better. Your videos have gotten soooo good. One of my fav channels to follow! keep up the great work guys! Hope to see you come back to Maine!
my thoughts are with anyone affected by this and hope you all manage and stay safe.
2:43, ah the brand new Livingston Memorial Hospital, built right in the floodplain.
My husband & I live within walking distance from many of these places. We were evacuated that Monday night. Flood water was in our far back yard, for several days afterward. Our home was OK.
i was waiting for somebody to do this amazing video really captures what is going on and the feel
Incredible footage. Used to live near Red Lodge. Can't believe what happened. Interesting times we live in.
It's weather manipulation using high energy weapons. Look up HAARP.
Good video. Amazing no one has died. Will be interesting to see how Mother Nature heals itself from this flood.
There is no such thing as"Mother Nature". This is God's decision and he has sent far worse floods before this.
Humans will be more involved on the clean up.
@@Diana1000Smiles Good thing God gave life and skills to the humans.

gonna be there next weekend. this is crazy. so glad you made a video!
dont plan on it
Going to be where?
Now this.
Why is it I can get more information on UA-cam than I can from any of the New Channels on TV
God bless and protect the Yellowstone community. Our prayers go our to you ❣️
This is what America is about............ these people will pull through, but it is heartbreaking. Coming from New Orleans, I can identify.
This video was beautifully made. I really connected with what I was seeing. The person that created this, is brilliant and talented beyond words. ❤
Hey, I lived this. My husband & I were evacuated that Monday night. Much of this was a short walk from our home.
@@eandsm4620 I was specifically talking about the editing of the video, not about what happened. And I'm sure you know that. 🙄 Because I literally said "This video". (I too have lived through and survived and lost everything in two tragic floods in Texas.) I have literally spent my entire life in and out of floods and hurricanes in Texas. 🙄 And I really am sorry that you went through the flooding in that area, but I was legitimately just complimenting the creator of the video, the comment section is the only place I can do that.🙄 Nothing I said was directed towards or about the historic tragic flooding that occurred there and that has destroyed so many lives.
That is a lot of water...my best wishes for all suffering through this. At the same time I get goose bumps watching nature in action. Action that formed the beauty of our country and continues to sculpture the planet, as it will so long as the earth exists. It truly is a privilege to witness and experience the immense power of nature. Brings home just how insignificant and defenseless we are on a 4 billion year old macroscopic speck that itself is insignificant and defenseless.
You are steeped in evolution which is utterly false. We are all significant. I hope one day you will understand that we are all so much more than an insignificant, meaningless spec of nothing. " You are beautifully and wonderfully made".
What a mess. Floods are so devastating with all the dirty brown water filled with chemicals, sewage and debris. Interesting the railroad managed to remain intact. Don't forget the poor souls in Mayfield, KY, last December with the unprecedented tornado. At least here no one's been injured or drowned in this disaster.
Yeah, tornadoes in Kentucky in December. Climate changes are becoming more radical every day.
There was a tornado siren in CHICAGO on Monday! That had NEVER happened that I ever heard of. Not even by my 99 y.o. granny or my dad.
They didn't touch down, but there were funnels.

The colordo river would love to see all this water. us people in the Colorado river region could use this. our lakes and dams need this to survive. I hope the rain stops and the clouds break so these people here can recover.
OH…my heart goes out to everyone impacted by this flooding; It can be SO DESTRUCTIVE. God Bless…. 🙏🙏
I made appointments to look at property next month in Billings trying to flee Commiefornia I'm devastated for the people of Montana however this state is Resilient and the People are Strong and help each other.
Absolutely insane that down here in the southern rockies where i fish in new mexico we are having record fires never seen before but follow the continental divide north and this is happening. Can't we just catch a break for once....
No you can't because it's being done on purpose. It's weather manipulation using high energy weapons. Look up HAARP.
Ever wonder how the grand canyon was formed..
Reclamation at its most primal. Montana's Governor took off with his wife for a vacation in Tuscany! Vote him out!
If anyone was to go there to help, do you know of any contact services that’ll accept volunteers?
They dont take kindly to outsiders fyi, myself and friends were threatened with an ak47 at the bar in Gallatin Gateway.. volunteer @ ur local food bank.

Very well shot, and edited ! 👏
So much water and all in the wrong place. 1,000 miles south, Colorado basin running dry after 22 years of consecutive and persistent drought.
Your comment had me looking up the Yellowstone River. I really didn't know which side of the Continental Divide it was on but was surprised to learn it is a 692-mile, northeast-flowing tributary of the Missouri River. It is too bad that none of that water will make it into Lake Mead/Colorado River basin.
@@JohnnyAngel8 The Colorado River also flows north from Mexico if I'm not mistaken.
@@edlynnporter7519 Other way round. It flows south west from Colorado to Arizona and then south to Mexico where it dries up. Sometimes with extra release from the US it reaches the Gulf Of California but its a rarity these days.
A localized flood is better than an eruption. 🙌
Praying for everyone
Can they get some of this water into Lake Mead or Lake Powell?
Such power in a flood! Heartbreaking to watch. God bless.
In all my years living here in Montana I haven't seen it flood this bad, prayers go out to those who were caught in the flood, and hopefully everything will be repaired soon 🙏, it feels so surreal it was two months ago as the river is still looking kinda high still, but not as high as it was that caused flooding.
Lived in Billings all my life and never seen anything like this. Few months later and people are still dealing with the after math I pray for everyone affected
Just look at the
river banks, the cross river junctions and at least two banks ,one near and one much further away. It is a gamble
that mother nature always wins when you build near a major tributary like this one going into the Missouri River.
We are but dust in the winds of time.
to think that we own the earth, is the biggest mistake of mankind.
she has her own rules. if she says, it's enough, then there is nothing we can do about it.
Yeah, especially when it's done on purpose. It's weather manipulation using high energy weapons. Look up HAARP.
News reports say this happened from 1.75" of rain
Everywhere along the Yellowstone got hit rather hard. Even forks off of Yellowstone like Clark's Fork and Rock Creek. Red Lodge got flooded as well as Bridger, Fromberg, and Edgar.
This decade has not been good so far.
Even in the Big Horns we get hit with heavy wet snow on Memorial day weekend.
Looks like Mother Nature said get off my lawn!
Don't mess with Mother Nature. She always wins.

Wow,see the power of God,its His World, bless His Holy Name, amen, amen, amen. He will make everything alright in His timing,Hallelujah!!!!!!
Bloody Hell. Good for the flood plain and channel forming tho
Movin' all that gold to where it should be too. I love it when this happens and it nearly ain't often enough.
What does an event like this do for the fish populations?
It’s a great question. In the long run, nothing. Fish have evolved to survive these kinds of events. But you have to figure with the amount of debris flushing downstream there will be significant casualties.
The fish probably drowned.

This Yellow stone is going to blow out
The floods will.receed and the cleanup will happen.
Does this water mix with the hot pots? Does it get hot and acidic?
Now we are expected to have temps in the high 80s. There still alot of snow in our mountains. Next couple days heat amd more run off.
