I remember not so long ago Mario Kart 64 had NOTHING in terms of new maps in the hacking community, I'm so happy that nowadays it's finally receiving!!
A few years ago me and a friend played a bunch of Mario Kart 64, and I did some Google Searching expecting to find us some new mods to play. I was very surprised at the lack of content that was out there, and decided that it was something worth doing. I'm so glad to hear that comments like this that show how Mario Kart 64 modding is getting a bit more attention, looking forward to doing more with all the updates to come.
The toolset does allow you to extract custom songs and use them in levels. It requires you to make the custom song in a "donor" ROM first using the standard music tools for the modding community, and then extracting those songs for the custom level using the custom Mario Kart toolset.
