The Wario Stadium and Bowser’s Castle battle stages look like unused/scrapped battle mode levels, amazing work DeadHamster 😁
i like town level now has a battle stage 😅 just wished mario kart had cpu in battle mode you can only play it with humans
We've added this feature to Triclon's "BattleKart 64" mod! The AI navigate the course for Item Boxes and chase after others to attack. In a near-coming update we'll be adding a unique set of Custom Levels to BattleKart 64, and also will port the Battle-AI system to OverKart 64 as well.

Hey dev team, for some reason, I can't get this to work on my everdrive. I'm able to boot the title screen and menu just fine, but when I select one of the beta coursesand try to load it up, it freezes on a black screen. It doesn't load any of the beta courses, but it's able to boot up the vanilla courses just fine. Only having this issue on my Everdrive x7, but on emulators, it works fine. Is there a version of this patch with the beta courses that works on real hardware, or is this not compatible on real hardware at all at the moment? Otherwise awesome work! Update: Disregard that. Forgot to switch it to LLE mode. For anyone that has the same trouble getting this to work on console, select LLE mode on the title screen during your first bootup, or change it in the options menu at any time afterwards.
A description of this should be included with the download to help prevent this issue, glad you got it figured out!

We've looked high and low, but have only found some textures that would have been used on the level. No geometry was left in the data we've currently got out hands on, but we can always hope for the future.

I'm imagining the "link" level being made into a Zelda themed course. Yes this is because of a mediocre pun lol
The auto drive option is only available for players 2-4 and the freecamera is a bit broken since the character dissappears whenever triggering it
I'll try to tidy these up for future releases, can definitely be improved.

A very tough level to navigate, seems to be made for a slower game then we ended up getting.

RACE2 looks oddly similar to the course the characters are driving on in the box art

with the original rom when patching because I tried with usa and had no luck which rom should I use to use and the religion.
It needs the bo the USA version of Mario Kart 64, in .Z64 format. There's a website here to convert .N64 and .V64 files (but you'll still need USA!) - hack64.net/tools/swapper.php
I love this era of primitive 3D games, they have a special charm in my eyes that i don't find in modern games and it's nice seeing those beta courses back even if some look obviously like test maps, it gives a view as to how the games we love got created, thank you for those restorations
I know Nintendo got cold feet on 3D after seeing their competitors, and Star Fox 2 got shelved. I wonder how many other titles we might have gotten if things had gone differently.
3:28 Looking at the type of road, surrounding landscape, and the sequence of curves following the straight (and the uphill straight toward the end of the clip), it looks strangely like the track layout DS Shroom Ridge without the traffic or decoration. It seems to me like they eventually repurposed this track layout for that very track.
Inb4 people think that Kart, Race, Race2, and Link are or rather were mario kart 64 levels just because you added them to the pack, causing news sources to mix it up and thus cause more confusion

I'm surprised that nobody's noticed the fact that the music for the track is based off the theme for Wacky Races.... well, outside of two other comments that were so vague that you'd think they're having a stroke.

It sounds like you're having trouble with an Android emulator and getting a copy of the game running. It's possible it doesn't work in your emulator. To use the game you'll need your own copy of a Mario Kart 64 USA ROM, you can use this site to patch it with the .BPS file. www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/
Not only the Chain Chomp is white but its pupils aren't drawn correctly.
The pupils could be a bit larger to better match the original Chain Chomp model, but all the models in OverKart64 were rebuilt for optimal performance, and so they won't be identical to their counterpart games.
The new music definitely caught me off guard, although it could sound better. Have you considered asking the person who made the Amped Up soundtrack to help you? I know it’s not the first priority to the community but I am telling you the music in that mod is incredible. Other than that nice port of this map! I think this is agreed upon the most recognizable map in a Mario game.
More HALO maps pls.
The Halo map was actually made by another user called MtZuul. It was definitely very well done and Halo would be a fun setting to see some other race levels in.

the blind waterfall jumps gets me every time 😅 once i had a gold star and i was going full speed and forgot the right hand turn and crashed on the grass lol also the bridge at the start of the race is hard as i can’t see it i keep falling into the water . overkart 64 is really good fun but there’s a steep learning curve the tracks are way harder then the original game mario kart 64
I personally think the vertices should be moved over to make that waterfall jump a bit more fluid / less sharp
Personally while I find the course very well done, it is a pretty strange first impression, especially when the sudden bridge catches new players off guard as well as the blind waterfall jump. Other than that thank you for bringing a custom MK64 community together!
I've often considered re-ordering the course order and moving this one. This is honestly a terrible introduction as it's a very difficult level to navigate. Bob-Omb Battlefield would make a much better first course. At the same though, it's pretty difficult to NOT put Peach's Castle as the first, just from a theming standpoint.
@@OverKart64 the theming is nonetheless a great idea to put it first. But yeah I think it could be pushed back a bit.
@@OverKart64 totally agreee wih you, ive been told by many that this track is very difficult for a first track, hence, they lose interest at this point. perhaps a big sign for turning right, before the jump out of the waterfall may help a bit, EVERYONE playing for the first time fall in the water several times 🤔
this is a very well made mod, the tracks are amazing and very fun to play, maybe making the bridge a bit wider could help a bit or a mini fence? , also an arrow pointing to the right before making the jump out of the cave.... for a first track is okay, just making it easier would solve this issue

I couldn't help but love Mario Kart 64 more then SM64 cause before it was Christmas my dad and I saw no copies left in Toys R' Us and Wario's Stadium was like as dark as my birth states lighting was XD!
Is town missing proper lighting for the stage?
Yes! The level originally would have had some type of dynamic lighting and we do have the vertex normals (They could be calulated anyway). We could guess at or find the original lighting values, but we don't currently have any implementation for lighting the custom courses with lights.
