Using this numbering system for your pencils has got to be so much easier to find the color your looking for, and too put them back in the right spot, I just need to find the labels. I will be numbering mine!

Hi Karen, I've finally found the most brilliant, straight forward way to organize my coloured pencils, thank you sooo much. I am 75 yrs old and 'found' Adult Colouring' during Covid, where here in Melbourne Australia we were locked down on and off for nearly 18 months !!! My brain is not as quick as it used to be and trying to find the pencil I was looking for had me so frustrated. Now, thanks to your marvellous brain I am starting right now, to organize my pencils properly. I cant thank you enough for putting so much time into sharing and explaining this. God Bless xo

I'm not that organized. I'm very haphazard in my method. There's madness to my method.
I grab a color and run with it. However, I am not nearly as artistic as you. Your art is beautiful.
I did try to organize my pencils by color. I managed that much. I printed out a swatch chart, filled it out, and used someone else's system. It seems to work better than my own.
I do admire your organizational skills.

Also, if you did a hole punch in each swatch, you could actually hold over and line each colour over another or beside it a lot easier than against a huge page just sitting at the side .... just a helpful hint maybe 🤗🤗

I’m so happy that I stumbled across a video of yours earlier today ~ I’ve been watching your videos on and off all day!😊 This is my favourite one so far because I have a helluva hard time choosing all the colours for a page, like you I start with the one object then go from there to choose the next colours. And I’m stuck. GRRR I’m going to start using your method of using your swatch charts and I think it’s going to help! (That is, after I do one big book-type swatch chart like you showed us.) I also have many different sets and I’ve swatched them all separately but the charts all got separated from the pencils somehow (and it has absolutely NOTHING TO DO with my clutter, lack of organisation and overall messiness.) 😇 I’ve never thought to combine them all with each other and it makes perfect sense! Why not have ALL THE COLOURS grouped together so we can try new combinations, get more creative with the color palettes we put together and stare dreamily at all the beautiful colours. ❤Thank you for your hard work and time that you put into your UA-cam channel. I love everything about it, especially the way you speak to us (your viewers). It’s more like listening to a friend explain something to you in a way you can understand easily. Thank you, again!

I think this is definitely a personality trait thing :)
I don't swatch but I do think I've built up a good eye for colour over a lot of years both back in school when I did Art and Sculpture and also now since I've gone back to doing drawing/adult colouring. I do use colour wheels a lot and I have multiple different types, I find they're a huge help.
I don't renumber my pencils though, they're in manufacturer order where that makes sense (Polychromos) or colour order when the manufacturer layout doesn't make sense!

Hi Karen!! ❤️🥰 Now I get what you did, I do agree the order of the Prismacolor pencils are not very well placed when you get them, not too many other brands are either. Hydrangeas are my very favorite flower and we cannot grow them here, in California where I live in the desert, sand and clay is our soil, and it seems so unfair, lol. Showing us that gorgeous picture, towards the end of the video, was that a hint that you are going to put it up for us to follow along to, lol. Thank you Karen! ❤️❤️❤️

Oh my goodness Karen, your colouring is gorgeous! I subbed to you after seeing you on Sammie's stream yesterday - I really admire your organisation, I do have all my pencils swatched, but they are only small circles of colour and fit on one double spread in my notebook. Luckily, I know most of my pencils so some of the time it doesn't matter! I do need to create better swatches at some point, but I know it's going to take ages! When you say you got a pic off ESTY what paper do you use for colored pencils and you just buy a file PDF , and print it out? You have mentioned recollections is it the heavier one, and does Michaels carry it?
Printing on an inkjet is ok?

Hi Norine! I. So happy you like my channel. Thank you. 😊 I have 3 different papers that I prefer to print my pdf purchases from Etsy. Recollections 110lb cardstock from Michaels is one of them. Although I had to purchase a straight feed printer to print on heavy cardstock. It’s not a good paper if you like a lot of tooth, but as I like smoother papers it’s perfect for me. Then I discovered the tan cardstock from Neenah that I use and I fell in love. Lots of colorists and artists use Strathmore toned tan because it makes light colors just pop off the page, but it’s too toothy for me. The Neenah paper is perfect. Lastly I found a paper that bridges the gap. Springhill digital makes a white cardstock that has similar tooth to the Neenah. I use it in my latest video series. But are links to all the papers I use in the description boxes under the videos. Especially the ones I’ve done over the last 6 months. I hope that helps!❤️❤️❤️
