Pineapple has a lot of enzymes and will turn your kombucha to champagne very quickly. You only need a tsp of fruit for a pint jar.

You made this look so easy! I have wanted to try making it but thought it would take up a ton of space and effort. A tip though, don't boil your tea in the kettle for kombucha or any reason the boiling water can actually scorch the tea and I noticed your tea is extremely dark which will affect your flavor. If you boil your water first, then steep the tea bags for about 15 minutes and then go ahead and remove the bags you will have a much better-tasting tea to drink as is or to add to the kombucha! I drink tea all the time and have looked up the different ways to prepare it and they all say boiling water will scorch the tea and make it less pleasant. Hope this helps!!!

I'm not a kombucha expert but have made it a bit and generally don't let it go past one week for the first ferment. That way it will be less "sour" and more sweet! I've never tried adding fruit, that looks delicious!

I have been making kombucha for years, I have my first fermentation for 6 days. Rarely I do a second, because actually we like it just as it is. Sometimes I will add juice when serving it. Or you can add juice for your second ferment, I leave it set out for 2 days max. Don’t open to let the carbonation out, save that for when you drink it like soda, it won’t break your bottle. I pour mine through the strainer, goes faster and it’s ok. Have fun!

I’ve been making my own kombucha ever since a friend gave me a Scoby and some starter tea a year ago...Now I have 4 one gallon jars at a time going on my counter in different stages so never run out. I bottle 1 gallon jar every 3 or 4 days because I now make it for my dad, myself and friends.... Love it!!, could never go back to the store bought kombucha.. I had so many GTS bottles that I’ve never had to buy bottles.

You can also make jun it’s like kombutcha but you substitute honey for the sugar and only use green tea. Just make sure you don’t put the hot tea with the honey let it cool first or you will kill all of the good things in the honey. You can buy a scoby from Kombutchacamp.com and many other products for making kombutcha and jun. check them out! They have great customer service

Better disolve the sugar in the tea, before adding it to the big pot, you don’t need to stir in the pot itself. Let it cool down before adding the tea. I use 5 teabags. It was tard because you left the first fermentation 10 days.

My mom used to make her own back in 1994 when she had breast cancer. Back then noone had ever heard of it and it certainly wasn't sold in stores. Tven she heard if you don't know what you're doing it could actually be dangerous and some people had died so she quit. A friend of mine a few years ago was gonna go into the kombucha business and he was an expert at making it.... And he concurred that you have to really know what your doing to make your own and vibe careful. So I've always been scared to try making it lol plus some has alcohol in it and some does not, so u have to be careful and don't drink it at wk lol

You can start your own scoby ( starter). Check out Off Grid with Doug and Stacy Kombucha or Scoby. She takes you from starting your scoby to the finished product.

It's the stuff you see floating around and will settle at the bottom. Kinda similar to "the mother" in vinegar. It's where much of the health benefit lies.

You can make your own. Watch Off Grid with Doug and Stacy and search kombucha or scoby. She teaches it all.
