The thing I'm most excited for is actually meeting all of the NEW companions! They all look so cool and unique and I just know bioware is going to knock it out of the park with them like they always do.
A quick note on Neve. She's the first mage we're meeting. I'm gonna be side eyeing her so hard. Dragon Age has a pattern for first mage to join the party. Bethany doesn't count cause she dies early/is only in the party for one act and DLC. Pluss does already being there really count as joining?
So I've subscribed 100% to the idea that Solas becomes an ally (maybe advisor?) to Rook and the gang, hence why we 1. travel so far and so easily (he gives us access to the eluvians under his control), we get his knife, and since bellara may have the artifact Solas took. Ride or die. Also, Solas would be so happy to see Assan (he brings up how sad it is that griffons are extinct in Inquisition), especially if it's called something elfy and is bonded with an elf :) I need griffon and Solas scene, just as much as Inky and Solas (I'm so excited for this game, and the egg, sorry) update edit: i was so fucking right
Same. It sounds like Rook and co will be moving around northern Thedas using the eluvians abd the Crossroads. How would they gain access, if not for Solas granting it? I can see both him and Varric becoming advisers in a sense.
That's a good point, plus he's also the only one that knows the Evanuris and likely the only one that knows how we could take them down so working with him in some way would definitely make sense. If both he and Varric become advisors as well as the Inquisitor, it would be the original gang from the start of Inquisition (minus Cassandra) and I actually love that haha. Also yessss an interaction between Solas and Assan would be so cute 😭 Also don't worry I could talk about this all day hahah

Though I wonder how that'll work out if she's Divine. Same for Leliana, I feel like she'd still be helping the Inquisitor as well (even if just through her influence and agents if she's Divine)

After hearing about a lot of the details of the game I'm way more excited than I was. I'm not 100% sold yet largely due to the combat, but so long as the enemies aren't too damage spongey I'll probably enjoy it
I am excited to unravel more of the story surrounding Solas along with more lore of Thedas, but I am disappointed by a few of their decisions... Notably mainly ignoring the choice of your decision in Inquisition regarding the fates of Hawke or the Grey Warden, reducing the party size from 4 to 3, limiting the usable abilities to a combat loadout of 3 per character, not being able to control your party members other than Rook apart from directing what ability they are to use, and the heavier focus on fast action combat. Don't get me wrong, it all looks pretty good, but it's hard for me to embrace the positives when they are moving in such a different direction in terms of gameplay. But my favorite things would be the possibility of returning characters, the released information on the character creator, class structure and specific character background dialogue seem really cool!
Yeah I would have preferred more tactical combat as well as just being able to control your companions. I'm not a fan of only being able to take two of them with us, but that doesn't bother me as much as having no control over where my companions are positioned and which target they're attacking. I always find it hard to judge combat by looking at someone else playing though, I really have to play myself to really get the combat, so I'm gonna wait until I've played the game to really form an opinion on it. I get your frustration with it, though. But yeah, I'm also super excited for the story, and that's the main reason I play these games so overall I'm happy with what we've seen so far 😊
The combat definitely seems iffy to me. Not saying it won't be good, but will it be Dragon Age? The way they structured it combined with the chosen art style (on which I'm also torn. Some characters look ok, others way to cartoony to fit in a darker fantasy setting imo (the landscapes look nice tho)) make it feel like a Valorant/Fortnite coat of paint on the Dragon Age Universe, and I don't really know what to do with it. I understand they want (and maybe need) to attract new fans after 15 years, and I'm also aware that I might be biased as many others given that I'm an old fart for the modern gaming industry and quite nostalgic for my Alistair potato, but I hope they won't completely alienate the veterans (which are a sizable community) for the sake of scraping a bit of new blood that will forget the game in a couple years at most.

My theory is that your going to have to make a choice between saving Varric or Harding at some point. It's just too coincidental having two dwarven archers from the inquisition together. So Varric could join your party as a secret companion if you don't save Harding. Similar to Logain replacing allistair if you make him leave.
one of the devs answering a question in the Q&A spoke of Lace remembering Varric in past tense. Other dev was scramming to make it like they were talking about the villain dying but the damage was already done.
Crazy crackpot theory: Solas won't be the villain, its going to be the Evanuris, thats why they changed name of the game. Solas, while trying to destroy the Veil will free the two beings in the trailer, which are members of the Evanuris. He thought he could contain them, but they are stronger than he anticipated, so they'll take over his plans and bring the Evanuris back also. Solas either is killed by them for deceiving them or is stripped of his connection to the veil and magic as a whole while the Veil stands, so he still would have a motivation to bring it down
I think you forget Rook was the one knocking down statues. It's quite clear the Evanuris were supposed to stay contained. Solas even says to Varric he did his best to keep 'worst' at bay during ritual. The demons were not 'worst' here. Then our character decides in ignorance to interrupt the ritual by wrecking statues. And somehow two Evanuris appear. It's clear we broke the protections against Evanuris.
I don’t think they could kill Solas. Solas was already as powerful as a god, now he even have mythal within him. Also, if the evanuris’ power are really connected to the Archdemons in some way or another, you can even argue that solas is stronger.
The devs themselves said Solas wasn’t the big bad… That’s not even a theory, more of a fact. He clearly released 2 Evanuris, who’ve been stated to be worse, if not the same level of evil of Solas. Then there were the teaser videos a few years ago.

I'll think the 2 Evanuris shown at the disruption of the ritual will kill Varric, which will tip Solas over to our side. Because he realizes how much a 'mortal' life is worth by losing a friend, feels responsible for it and wants revenge. Also I think the new design of the demons might have something to do with Titans as well, since the neon veins look a lot like lyrium veins (which is Titan blood) as shown in the Deep Roads dlc. Since demons can take any form they might be inspired or directly influenced by them. And titans are gonna be a big role I think, since Harding has been described having some kind of magic, which makes me think of Valta. Also the Titans and the Evanuris have a bloody history and it was the Evanuris (Mythal) who killed one of them and put them to sleep.

Totally agree with you there. Baldur's Gate 3 is an exception for me but yeah apart from that, nothing feels quite like Dragon Age. And hell yeah, let's hope it comes out in November then! (But as you said, earlier is completely fine, too 😇) It's great to see so many other people that are so hyped 💜
I am on the same boat. To be honest, with the exeption of Baldur's gate 3 and Mass effect, I never found other games that seems to be made for me. Dragon age has it all: characters you can create from zero, fantasy, magic, adventure, darkness, romance, great companions, lgbtq+ themes, incredible voice acting and plot. And so, I am so very exited for this! I cannot wait to play it and so I will stay positive about it. Also, my birthday is in october, so i am totally fine with the game coming before november.😂

Omg you're right! They look pretty much like the one Neve's holding! While it could be just a re-used model, this could also mean that the Red Jennies are active in Tevinter, perhaps Neve has connections with them. Thanks for pointing this out!
Taash was Referenced in inquisition. There is a war table chain where you have to find a Ventaori spy and one of the possible spies is referenced as a female talvashoth dragon hunter...
If you just look at how they made the scene where Varric sets out to talk to Solas it looks like those goodbye scenes we get in movies. And as far as we can see... Bianca dies. She's basically part of him and I think that's forwshadowing his death. I wouldn't be surprised if he died right at the beginning, maybe to save Rook or even Solas somehow. Or maybe he will die heroically instead of tragically, which would be perfectly ironic considering what he says about heroes in DA2 and DAI.
3:04 I firmly believe this is likely the Venatori, considering the blade and the dialogue we got in the gameplay reveal trailer. I’m curious to see how big of an antagonist they will be, or who will be leading them this time around. Maybe even Calpurnia will make her return.
Yeah I completely overlooked that the first time I watched the reveal, I only realised it when I watched it again much later on and took a better look at their outfits, and I was like ''wait a minute, I've seen that before...''
I'm honestly thrilled there will be no DA Keep to worry about. That thing was such a bloated mess, full of decisions that *never* got addressed in Inquisition even once. Like, the Keep almost felt like false advertising for Inquisition. I thought so many of the previous games' decisions would matter somehow and hoooo boy, did they absolutely not matter at all. A few cameos and throwaway references and not much else. So this new system being built into the game gives me hope that they'll only bring up the decisions that will actually be important to the overall world state to some degree, rather than wasting time on whether or not you saved the blacksmith's daughter in Redcliffe.
I really want to see some mage gameplay. As for the combat system, I enjoyed the combat in the last two Bioware games and Veilguard seems to be on the same tracks. This is coming from someone that has been playing Bioware games since BG2.
I really wonder if the Harding/inquisitor romance will be taken into account. You know the half-done romance you get from not romancing anyone in DAI and flirting with Harding regularly.
I'm so happy about quantity and contents of news we recieving! I've became very jaded about the game about a year ago, stopped actively following the news about the game, but after this giant drop of news, it's like I've never left, the excitement is back and the wait just got a lot more excrutiating. It's actually really hard to maintain healthy skepticism because the excitement is through the roof!
I love everything I'm hearing, I'm honestly baffled by how many people dislike the combat related stuff. I think it's fantastic. And the Varric design dislike makes me laugh cause I think he's sexier than ever 😂 I'm wishing this game the best. It's already looking like my personal goty. Still gonna hold my breath until the game itself of course! But I'm elated and optimistic.
Funny thing they released what your character origin can be and I think depending on your origin (greywarden, rift jumper etc) you could be more connected to one of your companions.
Honestly if I had to pick one I would say Bellara as well... I have literally 0 proof for this but I think there might be a non-zero chance she's working with/for Solas. Again, basing this on literally nothing apart from the fact that she is a Dalish (?) Elf, and Solas was gathering Elves to his cause after Trespasser. And well, she's a mage! I'm probably way off though 😂
If we compare Bellara to Morrigan and Solas, two characters with a thirst for power/knowledge, then it would make sense for it to be her. Neve gives vigilante vibes so I can’t imagine it’s her unless she sees our character as a problem. This is speculation ofc
I don’t know if all the characters from previous games will turn up but I think the inquisitor will turn up rather in the game or as part of some dlc. I wonder how many of our choices from previous games affect this one
Won't lie, recreating my Inquisitor and picking his key decisions is something I'm really looking forward to... Especially with the new features revealed in the character creator.
I love the art style and I'm not really in it just for the combat. The dialog seems adequate and the voice work is exceptional once again. If I end up hating anything, I'm sure there will be a mod to fix it. (War table timer, anyone?)

I studied them quite closely, and I would actually say tht the two evanuris are Falondin and Dirthamen. I also believe they're going to take Solas hostage and use his power for something. I think all the Evanuris might make an appearance, but those are the two I am betting will be made in charge of Solas, and possible the first two we will need to defeat.
One weird thing I just noticed as you said Taash has two axes but she is a warrior and in the Q&A They said only rogues can duelwield :o so oversight or something else going on?

It's not necessary, though the comic The Missing does introduce some of the new factions and characters. Same with the novel Tevinter Nights. I would definitely recommend that one if you're interested in the novels but again, it's not necessary and I'm sure they will explain everything in the game
Not a fan either. Why has he aged so much in 10 years? I always assumed dwarves lived longer then humans and 10 years for a human ain't even that long. I suppose it could be the stress of everything he has been through since meeting Hawke in Kirkwall.
Your theory of the evanuris reminds me of a "poet" in trespasser: "Ghilan'nain weeps as Fen'Harel hunts. Elgar'nan fears as Ghilan'nain deceives. Fen'Harel laughs as Elgar'nan hunts. And Mythal, Mythal soothes as Mythal avenges." And honestly, why didn't Solas guard the entrance to this paticular "please don't break anything or we're all screwed" place better? Where are his agents? Did he assume that wouldn't be found anyway, that demon and other magical phenomena would be enough of a barrier if one of the biggest institutions came after him (inquisition/chantry), or did he even want to be found? He is always like "I'm not a monster and I'll take about 10 years to come up with a really good plan that already minimizes the damage", but then it takes one Rook to knock over a poorly secured statue and everything gets a lot worse?! Stupid boiled egg -.-

There was nothing realistic in way Inquisition handled their romances .. also you missed the point of DA 2 romances. Isabella aside, these characters like Merrill or Fenris weren't looking everywhere with their tongues out like dogs. They pretty much never focused on searching for romance beyond Hawke. It's closure to Hawke that even opened them up on such suggestion. That is very realistic approach. Way more realistic then getting "Okay so you chase after dicks, and you after vaginas. Oh and doesn't matter how close you are. Remember - you after dicks, and you after vaginas only." I much more prefer when the romance is written FOR character because of who you are while playing game, not because of what gender you picked at creator. At best in Inquisition I could understand Cullen being hetero because Cullen is advisor. He was not in near death situations on front with Inquisitor daily basis. And I don't like abandoning Keep. Keep already memorized what choices I had. I can't imagine this new game quiz taking this many choices as I showed in Keep. I fear they will boil it down to only major things and forget the rest. Details matter in RPG's.
Same here, i really hope for Veilguard to release in november since its my birthmonth x) so November 15th would be perfect for me but since there is also the release of Assasins Creed Shadows, i think BioWare will release it earlier because they might lose some hype so my guess is beginning of october
I am excited to get back into dragon age, and I'm looking forward to the companions and getting to see new parts of Thedas! But I am disappointed by what we saw from the combat so far. Not being able to control your companions, and only having three abilities available per character is a big downgrade for me. Also not a fan of only getting to take 2 companions along; I'm afraid this will just push very traditional party comps (e.g. one of each class)...
I know there is gonna be a lot of criticism when the game eventually releases but, I'm still excited to play it. It's an ambitious game, and from what I've heard it's been an uphill battle to make, but I'm sure a lot of love still went into the story and characters. I'm happy to see Varric again, but... yeah, I worry for his life.
I am the complete opposite. Everything they are saying with the game has made me drastically unexcited for this game. We have a linear mission based hack and slash with some flare and the companions do very little damage, limited customisation no advanced behaviour and they stood around doing nothing intelligent and the enemies showed the same thing. Keep hyping big decisions when they also say no companion will never return so you obviously can’t do big decisions that breaks moral and collective unity and the new designs for some of the demons look bland and the world though pretty looks like hollow art design. If they think big decisions includes just choosing who goes with you is pretty comical.

As someone who plays as a mage, having only 3 abilities/spells seems pretty silly lol. I will likely buy the game because I want to know what happens story-wise, BUT I am really struggling with the excitement lol. I will say I'm cautiously optimistic at this point lol.

I'm not sure how to feel about every character being pansexual. I mean, what a coincidence, 7 people from all over Thedas reunited in a room just so happen to all be canonically pansexual. Then again, Baldur's Gate 3 e isn't that different, but I think that's more player sexual, as they put it.
As someone who is bi/pansexual, it is nowhere near as uncommon as people think. At least I know I tend to end up friends with other pan/bi people entirely by accident or have friends I thought were straight come out to me. I know this certainly isn’t everyone’s experience but we tend to find each other I guess. And given most don’t generally advertise it or wear a badge that says “I’m bi/pansexual” you probably aren’t gonna know unless someone tells you.
The question came up during the Discord Q&A, they said Varric's hair is actually more grey, but we've only seen him in darker lighting so far, and that we'll see him with more context later. So... I guess we'll see? (x
What is funny is in the bit about combo they basically just explained a combo you could do in Mass Effect with the energy powers. The combat looked smooth but also utterly bland behaviour
The greyspawn were idiots and traitors to Thedas in DAI. Davrin has no place in my group if he is still a greywarden. The greyspawn were the Orsino of DAI. Very relieved that the Inquisitor will be involved. Otherwise, the story wouldn't make sense without something horrible like killing all the heroes of the Inquisition other than Varic and Harding. The needing someone Solas doesn't know storyline doesn't make any sense with the limited information we have so far. The only two people able to track down Solas are actually two people he knows very well. It seems like Neve uses intelligence and her knowledge as a mage to find Solas's exact location not the stealth of being unknown to Solas. Rook the nobody seems to join in at a point that doesn't matter in being able to help locate Solas. I'm hoping the gameplay reveal was actually the end of act 1 and we get a proper origin story with the rook character actually helping the Inquisition to find clues about Solas's location and tries to thwart his plan to likely destroy the world. Hopefully, the world's plan to stop it's destruction wasn't to just send Varic to talk to Solas without any backup. Bonus points if Solas and his allies managed to stop everyone from reaching him except Varic and Harding.
It's so bizarre the game is coming out this year. It'll either live up to the hype or be aggressively mediocre. Best not to pre-order, better to wait a couple days after release and see.
Opinions like these feel so out of touch to me. This game is clearly going to be great, it's not bizarre at all that it's coming out 10 years after Inquisition, maybe if you don't understand marketing?

Yes the reveal trailer may not represent the game best, but like all the other trailers for the previous game it does represent the themes of the game, which is worrying as an upbeat hero-shooter is no Dragon Age.
I feel the romance explanation was a pivot to try to get the fans off of them. So if everyone is pan does that mean we won’t have that in the next game? If that’s the case then cool, go off but it still reads to me they are trying to BG3 dragon age
Everyone is presuming Andruil and Elgar'nan are the two evanuris being freed, but the only two remaining uncorrupted old gods are Razikale and Lusacan, who are hinted to be Dirthamen and Falon'Din.
I'm thinking it's Ghilan'nain and Elgar'nan. Ghil mainly because she and her messed up creations were hinted at in the Tevinter Nights story Horror of Hormak, as well as some concept art of some sort of sea monster that's got a moonshaped head just like the left figure in the gameplay reveal. Elgar'nan mainly because of the voice in the Thedas Calls trailer and because he was the leader of the Pantheon (aside from Mythal). I've seen good arguements for Andruil and Dirthamen too, though I don't think it's Dirthamen and Falon'Din both as the left figure appears to be female
@@LisaLynnsTavern I know that many things from Origins have been retconned over the years, but if we remember the dalish elf origin, the tainted eluvian sits in a place dedicated to Falon'Din. Being the first game of the franchise, world building was important, so that had to mean something.
There is only one person capable of taking these 2 elven gods down and that is Mythal anyone else would be an absolute crock of bullshit. As for buying the game, I'll wait and see, at this point the game has too many red flags.
im gonna buy this game and enjoy it. i doubt bioware will be dismantled after this. they survived the anthem and mass effect andromeda fails and they are still standing. some are saying that all the og devs are gone but i could have sworn they said og mass effect devs are working on the new mass effect. cant wait to play this

The companions give me andromeda vibes “fun and youthful” which equaled bland and boring, but obviously we don’t know much so not a problem yet. Not really a fan that there is so few I feel like 7 companion spaces being available but maybe 10-14 being in the world to pick from would have been Better. In inquisition I half of them I didn’t care for even solas wanted to leave in the early parts as we didn’t get on(I knew something was fishy about him) but the bits of gameplay looked good and looking forward to more info.
I agree with most of what you said, but I do need to complain about the lack of party control - I still think Origins was the strongest game in the series, all around, and while i still like the story and characters, gameplay is not something that I enjoyed in Inquisition. As you mentioned, BG3 has shown how amazing tactical gameplay can be, I feel like this opposite direction is completely the wrong one I'll see about the rest, but maybe i will prefer to watch this game instead of playing it
Yeah I'm not thrilled about the new design either. I don't like the super sharp, almost abstract features. I very much prefer the style of the old logo, that's (in part) why I'm hoping this new design is for the group of Wardens that split from Weisshaupt.

The female mage has one (that leg), the veil-jumper girl has one (her arm!) and the Qunari has a "fake" horn...seriously, I am not against showing this kind of magi-tec, but frankly it sadly gives me Destiny/Cyberpunk vibes (just like the magical neon-signs in Minrathous!)...why not have a stone prostetic with lyrium (so it could be an offshoot of the golem-making-process!)...still, 3 companions having them is over-represenation! Not even 5% of the population of any given country have prostetics (unless you count wearing glasses or contacts!)
I disagree about the Keep - they still have to maintain it for Inquisition so that's nonargument and, more importantly, moving those choices to game start means there will be FAR less options than what Keep has.. Think 5-15 choices instead of well over hundred.
I have three world states from Keep. So provided that Keep will work I will see how DA 4 handles 'quiz' and then consult with Keep what choices I made. I am still not fond of Keep going away, but I guess architecture of page is not matching next game anymore. Sad. As for who will it be .. well I am almost sure I will check Antivan Crows backstory as well as I think making someone be that Fortune Soldier (?) could be interesting. I will see and decide on creator. I am almost sure I will romance at least on one of my world states the Warden guy. I enjoy his voice actor and he looks good himself. Even if BioWare claims he is cynical a bit, but given Wardens .. and truth .. who wouldn't be.
I hope they will at least keep it online for a while, I love the art work on there, plus it's still needed for Inquisition right now. And nice! I'm going Lords of Fortune myself, though I would love the Veil Jumpers as well. The only reason I'm going Lords of Fortune is cause it fits more with the character I'm going to make, and the backstory I've made up for her haha.
what if these new looking valasllin arent for the creators but for the Forgotten ones I mean we haven't heard much on them nor told much about them but we also know there are some clans of dalish who worship the forgotten ones idk could be my need to learn more on the "evil" gods XD
I would have loved new races and clsess, , as for the different it kinda gets my pet wanting thing almost done, I do not like the fact we only get 4 abilities, maybe 6 abilities and 1 ultimate skill, also if theirs dlc I would like them to be able to select from 3 ultimate skills,
Art Direction is off for me, it’s pretty but looks hollow especially when you compare it to Elden Ring or BG3 and they had in the gameplay all these lights on the street and very little coated the world such as lacking ambient lighting
Hate to be negative. Really do. Just doesn't seem like the series I grew up with. Too many plot holes for me and the story seems..extra. Just my opinion. Doesn't mean it won't be a bad game for others. If they like it....great. This is 100% a pass for me though. The thing I'm most excited for is actually meeting all of the NEW companions! They all look so cool and unique and I just know bioware is going to knock it out of the park with them like they always do.

A quick note on Neve. She's the first mage we're meeting. I'm gonna be side eyeing her so hard. Dragon Age has a pattern for first mage to join the party. Bethany doesn't count cause she dies early/is only in the party for one act and DLC. Pluss does already being there really count as joining?

So I've subscribed 100% to the idea that Solas becomes an ally (maybe advisor?) to Rook and the gang, hence why we 1. travel so far and so easily (he gives us access to the eluvians under his control), we get his knife, and since bellara may have the artifact Solas took. Ride or die. Also, Solas would be so happy to see Assan (he brings up how sad it is that griffons are extinct in Inquisition), especially if it's called something elfy and is bonded with an elf :) I need griffon and Solas scene, just as much as Inky and Solas (I'm so excited for this game, and the egg, sorry)

That's a good point, plus he's also the only one that knows the Evanuris and likely the only one that knows how we could take them down so working with him in some way would definitely make sense. If both he and Varric become advisors as well as the Inquisitor, it would be the original gang from the start of Inquisition (minus Cassandra) and I actually love that haha. Also yessss an interaction between Solas and Assan would be so cute 😭 Also don't worry I could talk about this all day hahah

After hearing about a lot of the details of the game I'm way more excited than I was. I'm not 100% sold yet largely due to the combat, but so long as the enemies aren't too damage spongey I'll probably enjoy it
I am excited to unravel more of the story surrounding Solas along with more lore of Thedas, but I am disappointed by a few of their decisions... Notably mainly ignoring the choice of your decision in Inquisition regarding the fates of Hawke or the Grey Warden, reducing the party size from 4 to 3, limiting the usable abilities to a combat loadout of 3 per character, not being able to control your party members other than Rook apart from directing what ability they are to use, and the heavier focus on fast action combat. Don't get me wrong, it all looks pretty good, but it's hard for me to embrace the positives when they are moving in such a different direction in terms of gameplay.
But my favorite things would be the possibility of returning characters, the released information on the character creator, class structure and specific character background dialogue seem really cool!
Yeah I would have preferred more tactical combat as well as just being able to control your companions. I'm not a fan of only being able to take two of them with us, but that doesn't bother me as much as having no control over where my companions are positioned and which target they're attacking. I always find it hard to judge combat by looking at someone else playing though, I really have to play myself to really get the combat, so I'm gonna wait until I've played the game to really form an opinion on it. I get your frustration with it, though. But yeah, I'm also super excited for the story, and that's the main reason I play these games so overall I'm happy with what we've seen so far 😊
The combat definitely seems iffy to me. Not saying it won't be good, but will it be Dragon Age? The way they structured it combined with the chosen art style (on which I'm also torn. Some characters look ok, others way to cartoony to fit in a darker fantasy setting imo (the landscapes look nice tho)) make it feel like a Valorant/Fortnite coat of paint on the Dragon Age Universe, and I don't really know what to do with it.
I understand they want (and maybe need) to attract new fans after 15 years, and I'm also aware that I might be biased as many others given that I'm an old fart for the modern gaming industry and quite nostalgic for my Alistair potato, but I hope they won't completely alienate the veterans (which are a sizable community) for the sake of scraping a bit of new blood that will forget the game in a couple years at most.

My theory is that your going to have to make a choice between saving Varric or Harding at some point. It's just too coincidental having two dwarven archers from the inquisition together. So Varric could join your party as a secret companion if you don't save Harding. Similar to Logain replacing allistair if you make him leave.

one of the devs answering a question in the Q&A spoke of Lace remembering Varric in past tense. Other dev was scramming to make it like they were talking about the villain dying but the damage was already done.

Crazy crackpot theory: Solas won't be the villain, its going to be the Evanuris, thats why they changed name of the game. Solas, while trying to destroy the Veil will free the two beings in the trailer, which are members of the Evanuris. He thought he could contain them, but they are stronger than he anticipated, so they'll take over his plans and bring the Evanuris back also. Solas either is killed by them for deceiving them or is stripped of his connection to the veil and magic as a whole while the Veil stands, so he still would have a motivation to bring it down
I think you forget Rook was the one knocking down statues. It's quite clear the Evanuris were supposed to stay contained. Solas even says to Varric he did his best to keep 'worst' at bay during ritual. The demons were not 'worst' here. Then our character decides in ignorance to interrupt the ritual by wrecking statues. And somehow two Evanuris appear. It's clear we broke the protections against Evanuris.
I don’t think they could kill Solas. Solas was already as powerful as a god, now he even have mythal within him. Also, if the evanuris’ power are really connected to the Archdemons in some way or another, you can even argue that solas is stronger.

The devs themselves said Solas wasn’t the big bad… That’s not even a theory, more of a fact. He clearly released 2 Evanuris, who’ve been stated to be worse, if not the same level of evil of Solas. Then there were the teaser videos a few years ago.

I'll think the 2 Evanuris shown at the disruption of the ritual will kill Varric, which will tip Solas over to our side. Because he realizes how much a 'mortal' life is worth by losing a friend, feels responsible for it and wants revenge.
Also I think the new design of the demons might have something to do with Titans as well, since the neon veins look a lot like lyrium veins (which is Titan blood) as shown in the Deep Roads dlc. Since demons can take any form they might be inspired or directly influenced by them. And titans are gonna be a big role I think, since Harding has been described having some kind of magic, which makes me think of Valta. Also the Titans and the Evanuris have a bloody history and it was the Evanuris (Mythal) who killed one of them and put them to sleep.

Totally agree with you there. Baldur's Gate 3 is an exception for me but yeah apart from that, nothing feels quite like Dragon Age. And hell yeah, let's hope it comes out in November then! I am on the same boat. To be honest, with the exeption of Baldur's gate 3 and Mass effect, I never found other games that seems to be made for me. Dragon age has it all: characters you can create from zero, fantasy, magic, adventure, darkness, romance, great companions, lgbtq+ themes, incredible voice acting and plot.
And so, I am so very exited for this! I cannot wait to play it and so I will stay positive about it.
Also, my birthday is in october, so i am totally fine with the game coming before november.😂

Taash was Referenced in inquisition. There is a war table chain where you have to find a Ventaori spy and one of the possible spies is referenced as a female talvashoth dragon hunter...
If you just look at how they made the scene where Varric sets out to talk to Solas it looks like those goodbye scenes we get in movies. And as far as we can see... Bianca dies. She's basically part of him and I think that's forwshadowing his death.
I wouldn't be surprised if he died right at the beginning, maybe to save Rook or even Solas somehow. Or maybe he will die heroically instead of tragically, which would be perfectly ironic considering what he says about heroes in DA2 and DAI.

Yeah I completely overlooked that the first time I watched the reveal, I only realised it when I watched it again much later on and took a better look at their outfits, and I was like ''wait a minute, I've seen that before...''
I'm honestly thrilled there will be no DA Keep to worry about. That thing was such a bloated mess, full of decisions that *never* got addressed in Inquisition even once. Like, the Keep almost felt like false advertising for Inquisition. I thought so many of the previous games' decisions would matter somehow and hoooo boy, did they absolutely not matter at all. A few cameos and throwaway references and not much else. So this new system being built into the game gives me hope that they'll only bring up the decisions that will actually be important to the overall world state to some degree, rather than wasting time on whether or not you saved the blacksmith's daughter in Redcliffe.
So... the problem was Inquisition that didn't use the tool properly
I really want to see some mage gameplay. As for the combat system, I enjoyed the combat in the last two Bioware games and Veilguard seems to be on the same tracks. This is coming from someone that has been playing Bioware games since BG2.
I really wonder if the Harding/inquisitor romance will be taken into account. You know the half-done romance you get from not romancing anyone in DAI and flirting with Harding regularly.
I'm so happy about quantity and contents of news we recieving! I've became very jaded about the game about a year ago, stopped actively following the news about the game, but after this giant drop of news, it's like I've never left, the excitement is back and the wait just got a lot more excrutiating. It's actually really hard to maintain healthy skepticism because the excitement is through the roof!

Funny thing they released what your character origin can be and I think depending on your origin (greywarden, rift jumper etc) you could be more connected to one of your companions.

Honestly if I had to pick one I would say Bellara as well... I have literally 0 proof for this but I think there might be a non-zero chance she's working with/for Solas. Again, basing this on literally nothing apart from the fact that she is a Dalish (?) Elf, and Solas was gathering Elves to his cause after Trespasser. And well, she's a mage! I'm probably way off though 😂
If we compare Bellara to Morrigan and Solas, two characters with a thirst for power/knowledge, then it would make sense for it to be her. Neve gives vigilante vibes so I can’t imagine it’s her unless she sees our character as a problem. This is speculation ofc

I have Executed Loghain Mac Tir for his crimes in Dragon Age 1. I executed Anders for his crimes in Dragon Age 2. And I will execute Solas for his crimes in Dragon Age 3 & 4.

I studied them quite closely, and I would actually say tht the two evanuris are Falondin and Dirthamen. I also believe they're going to take Solas hostage and use his power for something. I think all the Evanuris might make an appearance, but those are the two I am betting will be made in charge of Solas, and possible the first two we will need to defeat.
One weird thing I just noticed as you said Taash has two axes but she is a warrior and in the Q&A They said only rogues can duelwield :o so oversight or something else going on?
Warrior weapons stuff is probably about Rook, not companions. Veil jumper elf is a mage with a bow and Rook most likely wont use bow as a mage.

It's not necessary, though the comic The Missing does introduce some of the new factions and characters. Same with the novel Tevinter Nights. I would definitely recommend that one if you're interested in the novels but again, it's not necessary and I'm sure they will explain everything in the game
About the Missing, If Varric said no to Harding, the ending of the missing would be the same :D like nothing changed because of them

And honestly, why didn't Solas guard the entrance to this paticular "please don't break anything or we're all screwed" place better? Where are his agents? Did he assume that wouldn't be found anyway, that demon and other magical phenomena would be enough of a barrier if one of the biggest institutions came after him (inquisition/chantry), or did he even want to be found? He is always like "I'm not a monster and I'll take about 10 years to come up with a really good plan that already minimizes the damage", but then it takes one Rook to knock over a poorly secured statue and everything gets a lot worse?! Stupid boiled egg -.-
Hahaha yeah, I'm guessing there's some context we're missing that we'll see once we play the game ourselves, but also it might just be his pride, him underestimating Varric & co and thinking he wouldn't be found. There was nothing realistic in way Inquisition handled their romances .. also you missed the point of DA 2 romances. Isabella aside, these characters like Merrill or Fenris weren't looking everywhere with their tongues out like dogs. They pretty much never focused on searching for romance beyond Hawke. It's closure to Hawke that even opened them up on such suggestion. That is very realistic approach. Way more realistic then getting "Okay so you chase after dicks, and you after vaginas. Oh and doesn't matter how close you are. Remember - you after dicks, and you after vaginas only."
I much more prefer when the romance is written FOR character because of who you are while playing game, not because of what gender you picked at creator. At best in Inquisition I could understand Cullen being hetero because Cullen is advisor. He was not in near death situations on front with Inquisitor daily basis.
And I don't like abandoning Keep. Keep already memorized what choices I had. I can't imagine this new game quiz taking this many choices as I showed in Keep. I fear they will boil it down to only major things and forget the rest. Details matter in RPG's.

I know there is gonna be a lot of criticism when the game eventually releases but, I'm still excited to play it. It's an ambitious game, and from what I've heard it's been an uphill battle to make, but I'm sure a lot of love still went into the story and characters. I'm happy to see Varric again, but... yeah, I worry for his life.
I am the complete opposite.
Everything they are saying with the game has made me drastically unexcited for this game.
We have a linear mission based hack and slash with some flare and the companions do very little damage, limited customisation no advanced behaviour and they stood around doing nothing intelligent and the enemies showed the same thing.
Keep hyping big decisions when they also say no companion will never return so you obviously can’t do big decisions that breaks moral and collective unity and the new designs for some of the demons look bland and the world though pretty looks like hollow art design.
If they think big decisions includes just choosing who goes with you is pretty comical.
My question is, can the necromancer class now animate dead bodies at least skeletons just like in the trailer??

I really want to be excited but I'm honestly having a hard time with some of the decisions they have made for gameplay..... I just don't understand the 3 abilities thing. As someone who plays as a mage, having only 3 abilities/spells seems pretty silly lol. I will likely buy the game because I want to know what happens story-wise, BUT I am really struggling with the excitement lol. I will say I'm cautiously optimistic at this point lol.
I don't understand why people who aren't excited want to buy a game instead of just watching YT or Twitch.
@@IgnoreMeImWrong Because I believe in not judging something entirely until it's finished, I could be pleasantly surprised, but I won't know until I play the game. Also, just because I don't understand something doesn't mean I'm not open to trying new things. Visually, the game looks great, the story will likely be great, and I want to support the devs for their work. I have several friends in the industry and know how demanding it can be.

I'm not sure how to feel about every character being pansexual. I mean, what a coincidence, 7 people from all over Thedas reunited in a room just so happen to all be canonically pansexual. Then again, Baldur's Gate 3 e isn't that different, but I think that's more player sexual, as they put it.

As someone who is bi/pansexual, it is nowhere near as uncommon as people think. At least I know I tend to end up friends with other pan/bi people entirely by accident or have friends I thought were straight come out to me. I know this certainly isn’t everyone’s experience but we tend to find each other I guess. And given most don’t generally advertise it or wear a badge that says “I’m bi/pansexual” you probably aren’t gonna know unless someone tells you.
Really wanna see a scout harding romance because the one in inquisitiion never went anywhere. I wonder if she'll mention the Inqy tryna get with her 🤔

The question came up during the Discord Q&A, they said Varric's hair is actually more grey, but we've only seen him in darker lighting so far, and that we'll see him with more context later. So... I guess we'll see? (x

What is funny is in the bit about combo they basically just explained a combo you could do in Mass Effect with the energy powers. The combat looked smooth but also utterly bland behaviour

Very relieved that the Inquisitor will be involved. Otherwise, the story wouldn't make sense without something horrible like killing all the heroes of the Inquisition other than Varic and Harding.
The needing someone Solas doesn't know storyline doesn't make any sense with the limited information we have so far. The only two people able to track down Solas are actually two people he knows very well. It seems like Neve uses intelligence and her knowledge as a mage to find Solas's exact location not the stealth of being unknown to Solas. Rook the nobody seems to join in at a point that doesn't matter in being able to help locate Solas.
I'm hoping the gameplay reveal was actually the end of act 1 and we get a proper origin story with the rook character actually helping the Inquisition to find clues about Solas's location and tries to thwart his plan to likely destroy the world.
Hopefully, the world's plan to stop it's destruction wasn't to just send Varic to talk to Solas without any backup. Bonus points if Solas and his allies managed to stop everyone from reaching him except Varic and Harding.
your idea for the missing would have been so much better. Then the inquisition wouldn't have looked so dumb. That is my biggest frustration for DA:TV.
I want to replay Inquisition before it gets here, but I'm not sure I can squeeze it in after Elden Ring. Maybe if there is a filler skip guide.

It's so bizarre the game is coming out this year. It'll either live up to the hype or be aggressively mediocre. Best not to pre-order, better to wait a couple days after release and see.
Opinions like these feel so out of touch to me. This game is clearly going to be great, it's not bizarre at all that it's coming out 10 years after Inquisition, maybe if you don't understand marketing?

Yes the reveal trailer may not represent the game best, but like all the other trailers for the previous game it does represent the themes of the game, which is worrying as an upbeat hero-shooter is no Dragon Age.
I feel the romance explanation was a pivot to try to get the fans off of them. So if everyone is pan does that mean we won’t have that in the next game? If that’s the case then cool, go off but it still reads to me they are trying to BG3 dragon age

For Rook (our player character) they've said there will be 4 voices to choose from, two with American accents and two with British accents
Everyone is presuming Andruil and Elgar'nan are the two evanuris being freed, but the only two remaining uncorrupted old gods are Razikale and Lusacan, who are hinted to be Dirthamen and Falon'Din.
I'm thinking it's Ghilan'nain and Elgar'nan. Ghil mainly because she and her messed up creations were hinted at in the Tevinter Nights story Horror of Hormak, as well as some concept art of some sort of sea monster that's got a moonshaped head just like the left figure in the gameplay reveal. Elgar'nan mainly because of the voice in the Thedas Calls trailer and because he was the leader of the Pantheon (aside from Mythal). I've seen good arguements for Andruil and Dirthamen too, though I don't think it's Dirthamen and Falon'Din both as the left figure appears to be female
@@LisaLynnsTavern I know that many things from Origins have been retconned over the years, but if we remember the dalish elf origin, the tainted eluvian sits in a place dedicated to Falon'Din. Being the first game of the franchise, world building was important, so that had to mean something.
There is only one person capable of taking these 2 elven gods down and that is Mythal anyone else would be an absolute crock of bullshit. As for buying the game, I'll wait and see, at this point the game has too many red flags.

im gonna buy this game and enjoy it. i doubt bioware will be dismantled after this. they survived the anthem and mass effect andromeda fails and they are still standing. some are saying that all the og devs are gone but i could have sworn they said og mass effect devs are working on the new mass effect. cant wait to play this
Even if the original devs are gone, that doesn't mean the rest of the team and new devs can't make something great. But yeah I agree, I'm gonna play the heck out of this game haha

The companions give me andromeda vibes “fun and youthful” which equaled bland and boring, but obviously we don’t know much so not a problem yet. Not really a fan that there is so few I feel like 7 companion spaces being available but maybe 10-14 being in the world to pick from would have been Better. In inquisition I half of them I didn’t care for even solas wanted to leave in the early parts as we didn’t get on(I knew something was fishy about him) but the bits of gameplay looked good and looking forward to more info.

I agree with most of what you said, but I do need to complain about the lack of party control - I still think Origins was the strongest game in the series, all around, and while i still like the story and characters, gameplay is not something that I enjoyed in Inquisition. As you mentioned, BG3 has shown how amazing tactical gameplay can be, I feel like this opposite direction is completely the wrong one
I'll see about the rest, but maybe i will prefer to watch this game instead of playing it

A Warden redesign does scare me a little bit, it was perfect in Inquisition.
Yeah I'm not thrilled about the new design either. I don't like the super sharp, almost abstract features. I very much prefer the style of the old logo, that's (in part) why I'm hoping this new design is for the group of Wardens that split from Weisshaupt.
And now they are going overboard with the prostetics! The female mage has one (that leg), the veil-jumper girl has one (her arm!) and the Qunari has a "fake" horn...seriously, I am not against showing this kind of magi-tec, but frankly it sadly gives me Destiny/Cyberpunk vibes (just like the magical neon-signs in Minrathous!)...why not have a stone prostetic with lyrium (so it could be an offshoot of the golem-making-process!)...still, 3 companions having them is over-represenation! Not even 5% of the population of any given country have prostetics (unless you count wearing glasses or contacts!)

I disagree about the Keep - they still have to maintain it for Inquisition so that's nonargument and, more importantly, moving those choices to game start means there will be FAR less options than what Keep has.. Think 5-15 choices instead of well over hundred.
I have three world states from Keep. So provided that Keep will work I will see how DA 4 handles 'quiz' and then consult with Keep what choices I made. I am still not fond of Keep going away, but I guess architecture of page is not matching next game anymore. Sad.
As for who will it be .. well I am almost sure I will check Antivan Crows backstory as well as I think making someone be that Fortune Soldier (?) could be interesting. I will see and decide on creator. I am almost sure I will romance at least on one of my world states the Warden guy. I enjoy his voice actor and he looks good himself. Even if BioWare claims he is cynical a bit, but given Wardens .. and truth .. who wouldn't be.
I hope they will at least keep it online for a while, I love the art work on there, plus it's still needed for Inquisition right now. And nice! I'm going Lords of Fortune myself, though I would love the Veil Jumpers as well. The only reason I'm going Lords of Fortune is cause it fits more with the character I'm going to make, and the backstory I've made up for her haha.
what if these new looking valasllin arent for the creators but for the Forgotten ones I mean we haven't heard much on them nor told much about them but we also know there are some clans of dalish who worship the forgotten ones idk could be my need to learn more on the "evil" gods XD

Art Direction is off for me, it’s pretty but looks hollow especially when you compare it to Elden Ring or BG3 and they had in the gameplay all these lights on the street and very little coated the world such as lacking ambient lighting
Hate to be negative. Really do. Just doesn't seem like the series I grew up with. Too many plot holes for me and the story seems..extra. Just my opinion. Doesn't mean it won't be a bad game for others. If they like it....great. This is 100% a pass for me though. To those that do play it, May the maker guide your steps to a wonderful and engaging experience! Good luck!
