I think the difference between the omnibus to the trade paperback versions is that the trade collects around at least half the content of what the omnibus would have, so maybe two trade paperbacks would be the content of one omnibus volume regarding DC's Golden Age/Silver Age omnibus & paperback books line.
Yes that is right i have looked it up and yes two volumes of the golden age books have the same contents as one volume of the omnibus books. For example the contents of 3 and 4 ar the same contents of the omni volume 2.
Another point to mention is that DC seems to have stopped releasing the trade's for the golden age at vol 6 or so, so basicly the first 3 omnibus's and they don't seem to have any plans to print more anytime soon. There will be 10 omnibus's for the golden age eventually, even if DC finishes printing the trades it will be forever before they are all out. Those it might worth getting the trades for some and omnibus's for other volumes if it's cheaper.
Do either of these use the 'censored' artwork? (at some point, likely in the 1970's, DC airbrushed over a knife in a character's back on panel 10 of the first story, as well as changing Batman's glove color from purple to blue, etc) The old Chronicles line used the censored versions.
A bit late, but I can at least confirm that panel 10 is not censored in the trade paperback. The knife is clearly in Lambert's back. And Batman's gloves are purple.
@@darthhideous9084 Thanks. I've had the Chronicles for at least a decade now. Wanted a copy that wasn't censored. Not a big fan of the updated copyright, though. But I may look into getting one of these. ;)

Also advantage is vol1 of omni is sold out but tbd vol1 is there so you can read first issues of batman still for a cheap price

“Omnibus is bigger”. You said nothing about the interior, which is what I was hoping for. Thank you Captain Obvious.
😂
Seriously

Is the trade out of print?
Is the trade paperback essentially just a random selection of issues? I’d like to read Batman in order, from issue 1. What’s a good book to do that?
The trade paperbacks are in order, at least if you follow the volume numbers.
