I think this just comes to show that even beyond style and taste, its clear you know your stuff and got your milage. :) So from developing artist to a far more developed one, thanks bunches!
I've dabbled with drawing for years (a couple decades, actually) and I've always shied away from hands because they felt so overwhelming to even begin approaching. You broke it down very well, and despite the relatively quick pace, you made it easy to follow along with. I finally have a confidence to give drawing hands a real shot.
Hey Jazza, this may sound weird, but I have trouble making smooth lines since my hand shakes a lot. Do you think you could make a video about tricks to make your line work smoother or something? Thanks.
u literally just take ur pencil and slash it on the paper as fast as possible, u will be surprised at how straight it is. Don't hold it and force it down on the paper. Just relax
This is really helpful bro, love how you break it down & simplify it. I'm used to simply drawing something by looking at it, which results in a great sketch, but it bypasses the actually learning the process, which is what I've been working on so I could create my own
Drawing hands got me annoyed enough to scrap a few drawings, had to take a break because I got so pissed off. Seriously evolution, can't you make something easier to draw please?
***** Yeah it's weird how counter-intuitive hands are to draw, even though they're the part of your body that you probably look at the most. Maybe it's the perception being 3rd person instead of 1st. I'm not sure.
Yeah, hands make me want to pull my tongue out with pliers. Feet aren't much easier! I really want to be one of those talented weirdos on Deviant Art that draws dragon dudes and lizard ladies, but not without an ideal set of human traits, *which includes human hands and feet!*
this is the best tutorial i thought drawing a hand was the equivalant to winning a world record i mean some of my early sketches looked exactly like the hands you drew on the video! Props to you keep it up
Wow!!! This is the best hands tutorial, bc it every point he's very practical and the basics everyone can Google and is often repeated. Thanks for the insightful, immediately applicable tutorial!
I've looked for a lot of tutorials, and to be honest, this one's the best by far. But there's one thing... Every time I get to drawing hands, I instantly forget everything I know, and draw a circle, hoping I can finish later
So true!! I'm working on a drawing right now and did just that for the hands. Thinking... they require extra concentration, I'll save them for last. LOL
Hey Jazza, I've been noticing something about hanss recently. When you look at a girls hand then you look at a boys hands you will see that the females hands are alot more round and slinder and they are also much more smooth while the males hand has a square like shape to it and it's also very thick and strong. You seem to know how to only draw a males hands and I've noticed that almost every artist does this where they draw hands according to their gender only without knowing there's a difference. Could you make a video on this?
I did the construction method you told in the video, it really works, thank you so much for making this video (even thou im 4 years late) but thank you for clearing all the doubts, im a 14 year old who loves drawing and i was having alot of problem trying to draw the hands, I have subscribed to your channel. You know, even though i dont like your drawing style, I find several vids of you very informative and useful and you are helping me a lot improve my skills. I think this just comes to show that even beyond style and taste, its clear you know your stuff and got your milage. :)
So from developing artist to a far more developed one, thanks bunches!
I need to get very hands-on with this project.
Hey Blueberry Sans.
these puns are getting out of *hand*
Nice Pun!
ᴋᴀᴡᴀɪɪ potato hahahaaha
XD
My brain cells are getting out ma head......idk I'm retarded I guess...
Just-JUST LEAVe
I've dabbled with drawing for years (a couple decades, actually) and I've always shied away from hands because they felt so overwhelming to even begin approaching. You broke it down very well, and despite the relatively quick pace, you made it easy to follow along with. I finally have a confidence to give drawing hands a real shot.
Hey Jazza, this may sound weird, but I have trouble making smooth lines since my hand shakes a lot. Do you think you could make a video about tricks to make your line work smoother or something? Thanks.
Ruler
Glurp Bot you could use stabilizer
it comes down to practice and how you hold you pencil or pen or what not and go slow and steady
u literally just take ur pencil and slash it on the paper as fast as possible, u will be surprised at how straight it is. Don't hold it and force it down on the paper. Just relax
Use a stabilizer or (how I fixed this problem) draw 2 - 5 straight or slightly curved lines per second for 5 minutes for 1 to 5 weeks.
"wibbly rectangly square that is beigger at the top"
DOCTOR IS THAT YOU?!?!
THATS WHAT I THOUGHT
Project: Star Light wibbly wobbly ringy fingy

That's a HANDfull of jokes
This is best how to draw hand tutorial I've ever come across!!! Thanks Jazza & Company!
Im glad when you showed the types of finger 'poses', you didnt flip us off.
Commenter beware, for buried in this deep section are more hand puns then you could ever imagine...
Don't say you haven't been warned.
Thanks but I can HANDLE it
*rushes through all the hand puns because puns are awesome*
Shadow Bunny Thanks for the tip, it came in handy
Got to *hand* it to you, this comment was *handy*
NO MORE HAND JOKES
Hands+drawing the second eye+making the nose symmetrical= the death of me
6carcinogeneticist9 why just make a dot the nose? Or why not draw a nose at all??
This is really helpful bro, love how you break it down & simplify it. I'm used to simply drawing something by looking at it, which results in a great sketch, but it bypasses the actually learning the process, which is what I've been working on so I could create my own
i need this. my art work due tomorrow, and haven't started it yet:)
+Mt. Fgt Soooo, how screwed were you? Or did you get out of it Scott-free?
minihali got it in
Mt. Fgt Bravo, well played!
I am a little bit of an artist with ANIMALS but humans is a whole different story and this really helped me thanks! ❤
Same, I can draw animals no problem, but I can draw a person to save my life
I tried drawing this but my fingers looked like bay max fingers from the movie
Fat fingers for life.
Thank you, Jazza. This really helps a lot. Looks so easy watching you draw those hands. Now I watch this every day and practice!
the wobbly square looks like a McDonald's French fry box
thomas scott trapezoid literally 3rd grade geometry
Drawing hands got me annoyed enough to scrap a few drawings, had to take a break because I got so pissed off. Seriously evolution, can't you make something easier to draw please?
***** Yeah it's weird how counter-intuitive hands are to draw, even though they're the part of your body that you probably look at the most. Maybe it's the perception being 3rd person instead of 1st. I'm not sure.
I'f youre going for realism try shading the fingers instead of drawing with lines
We all draw like shit. Have to start somewhere
Yeah, hands make me want to pull my tongue out with pliers. Feet aren't much easier! I really want to be one of those talented weirdos on Deviant Art that draws dragon dudes and lizard ladies, but not without an ideal set of human traits, *which includes human hands and feet!*
You NAILed it
I am doing like a binge-watch on all UA-cam tutorials I can find on hands. TRUST ME, YOURS HELPED big time. Better than the sinix design on hands...
this is the best tutorial i thought drawing a hand was the equivalant to winning a world record i mean some of my early sketches looked exactly like the hands you drew on the video! Props to you keep it up
yes, hands aren't the easiest..... BUT WHAT ABOUT FEET
i assume it's the same concept, basic shapes and go from there
dun dUn DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN
Usually people wear shoes
WHO NEEDS FEET UH
Then... HOW TO DRAW SHOES+SHOELACES!?
Draw shoes!
Thanks for these tips and pointers! 2 thumbs up! 👍
LOL
Jazza: "Knuckles"
Me: "UGANDA I'M COMING!"
Angala Love this is just a guideline for feminine hands just make them smaller
I did the construction method you told in the video, it really works, thank you so much for making this video (even thou im 4 years late) but thank you for clearing all the doubts, im a 14 year old who loves drawing and i was having alot of problem trying to draw the hands, I have subscribed to your channel. Will support you~!
Hands are -rocket science- dark magic.
what i did:
took my hand
drew lines on it to show each shape
used that hand in any position and draw according to the lines
WAIT THATS A GREAT IDEA
OMG YOUR GENIUS
I tried that too!!😄
That failed horribly😑
I don't really struggle with hands but this was still usefull
lucky duck. I was complete crap at hands before watching this. Literal lifesaver. You didn't go through the how to hand phase.
haha I certainly did but luckily it was that long
lend me your strength and knowledge
*How do you not struggle with these abominations.*
Amazing tutorial! Got me to understand not only how to draw hands, but also how to think and approach for my drawing when i want to draw a hand. Thank you, I really love the results. :)
