    The difference between Sweden and our Nordic neighbours is that Sweden has allowed far greater numbers of immigrants and asylum seekers to enter the country in the last ten years. This has coused gangs of immigrants to pop up all over the country, and guns are more prevalent than ever.
    The reason why we have allowed this to happen is most likely because of our culture and politics where solidarity is a key/fundamental principle. This includes solidarity with people fleeing their home countries (due to war or to seek a richer country to live in).

      Ye thats pretty much what it is. Another problem is that we been putting these type of people in the same area, they are not immigrated well because of that. And we been to weak with forcing these people to learn swedish or to adapt to our way of living, its to late to change shit however, we will have to deal with these problems for a long time now thanks to this politicians, its gonna take 10-15+ years to change shit up, then ofc our politicians are to afraid to be called "racist" or something

    What has Sweden done differently? More immigrants. It really is that easy. Almost all shooters are 1st or 2nd generation immigrants. Per capita, Sweden has welcomed more than 15x refugees than the US. In general, the US (and Canada and Australia) welcomes "easy immigrants"(ambitious people moving for a better life), whereas the EU gets swarms of people from war-torn MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa with basically no prospects of making it into our knowledge-intensive labor markets. Their kids are isolated and alienated and turn to anti-social gangs for status and power. It's a shitshow, and it was super predictable, but "progressives" refused to abandon their naive idealism even in the face of undeniable facts. Now everyone is suffering the consequences and the far-right is becoming our biggest party. I've been worried about exactly this development for the last 15 years.

      And it's absolutely laughable how he tries to frame this as an issue of "underfunding" or not helping immigrants. Those schools he talks about are literally some of the best-funded schools in the world. They receive MORE money than regular Swedish schools. However, turns out it's basically impossible to run a good school when all of your students are Afghanis and Somalis with unemployed parents and no language skills.

    As a Norwegian and not an expert, I do believe as you say - not immigrants alone, but the way Sweden has handled the integration problem. Taking in immigrants needs a longterm plan to inergrate them in the new society. Norway has a different approach to immigrants than Sweden, but we still have more work to do. And since focus now are on gangs in Sweden, the chances they will relocate to Norway is huge. Some are already here. So there is more work to be done.

  • @shakya00
    @shakya00 9 місяців тому +29

    Short answer : mass immigration. And saying that it isn't that simple because other European countries that did practice mass migration policies don't have the same problem is...laughable. Sweden really took A LOT of them and there is a strong link between people of immigrant origin in the WHOLE of Europe. So no, the situation isn't unique to Sweden and what is happening is the most spectacular in Sweden, because it used to be a very safe country + they took so many migrants for such a small population in so little time.
    The excuse of lacking infrastructures and money is also a f joke. People of extra-European origin tend to benefit from more public spending and tend to have easier access to infrastructures than others (in Western Europe at least). Because they tend to be young, don't pay much taxes, benefit more from social programs, as they degrade more their public housing more renovations, more subsidies for culture/sport/associations in their neighborhood, they live more in cities (where opportunities and infrastructures are), etc.
    It is the countryside that is "abandoned", and yet it tends to be more peaceful. As if it wasn't a funding issue but a population issue.

      there is a problem whit getting work and employment. of being ostracized. often by own choice i noticed. and the culture shock coming from a male dominant country to Sweden where women just don't accept that behavior. they get real angry real quick. so they feel like there is no other way the to go with who ever offers them an out to the conflict. so yeah to much immigration without integration. and then difficulty for jobs in general for everyone. mental health goes out the window. some act out instead of hide when that happens. don't excuse the behavior. its disgusting what some ppl think is fine to do to others. but it dose explain why and how we ended up here. this and SO many other reasons.

      The situation is unique in Sweden because other EU countries doesn't have the same level of gang violence, especially when it comes to young people. Simple as that. How "peaceful" it was before is also exaggerated. The suburbs have been messed up for decades. For example, Sweden was the worst country in Europe in early 2000s when it came to large scale robberies (such as robbing money transports). The reason why it's so much more gun violence now is because of gangs focusing a lot more on the drug trade, since you can't do these robberies anymore (increased security and cash-less society).
      Other western countries have not received the level of asylum seekers and refugees as Sweden. Sweden is the ONLY western country amongst the top ten receivers per capita of refugees in the world.

      ... and social media and the "cancel culture". Hate-speech laws in European countries (enshrined in EU law but by no means confined to the EU) prevent sensitive subjects from being honestly discussed. Fear of causing offence to communities, loss of employment and cancellation prevent many in the know from speaking up. Also there is no honour given to whistleblowers.
      In the UK, grooming gangs up and down the country, known to have a predominant, virtually exclusive membership of particular ethnicities, have gone largely unreported and unprosecuted over many years for fear of accusations of racism being levelled against social services, the police and the media. Politicians on the left avoid such issues as there are no votes to be gained and many could be lost. The victim culture encouraged by identity politics encourages some ethnic groups to believe that crime is the only way of rebalancing the scales, rather than hard work.

    Well, I'm not an expert on the subject either, but I just finished an essay (Stockholm uni, master) about young offenders and from the meta analysis I've read (both from the US and Europe) there is no consistent evidence that imprisonment/locked institutions helps to prevent the individual to not fall back into commit new crimes when let out. Nighter did the "apologizing the victim" reduces the risk of reoffending even close to more therapeutic interventions. That doesn't mean that the numbers presented in this video is incorrect, it just means that it can't be generalized into a bigger context/population.
    If you want to read the whole article yourself, let me know and I'll check out which ones it was.

    The new government have recently proposed a set of new laws that would make it very easy to deport criminals if they don't have a swedish citizenship. If it goes through, they don't even have to be convicted criminals to be deported, it's enough if they have close ties to gangs or shows clear signs of "unsocial behaviour" or something like that. That law would have to be very carefully written down to get through, but I hope they get it done. Should have been done ages ago.
    And yes. All this nonsense the old parties have been doing the last 15 years have shoved more and more people out to the fringe so that today, one of the biggest parties in Sweden is basically an anti immigration party. That's what happens if the old parties ignore a problem for too long.

    • @kirsjawaki
      @kirsjawaki 6 місяців тому

      yeah most sweds 20 years or so would rather die then support them. now... but if well written and adjusted that going through could help a lot. problem is, to send away 13 year olds alone would be very problematic. for the adults its a start. dont fix our own citizens behavior though.

    • @LasseEklof
      @LasseEklof 6 місяців тому

      "make it very easy to deport criminals" - it also depends on whether the countries to which the criminals are deported are willing to accept them.
      And punishing innocent people who have done nothing illegal by being deported is also against the European Convention - so that law will be impossible to pass.

  • @lazios

    I'm not Swedish, so it's useless to make any analysis, but (maybe?) one thing can be said: the Swedish government (even the Swedish society in general?), never had to deal with this kind of violence/crime so it's in difficulty to fight that (just look at their penal code and the punishable age to understand this).
    That's a "good news" for countries like mine: we had to fight organised crime and (also) terrorism basically always (I'm talking about thousands and thousands of deaths, not of some guy killed) therefore the state (with the problems this implies though) has the strength and skills to confront situations like this (the "antibodies").
    After all, even though we're talking about a completely different criminality (the Swedish case is more a social phenomenon), it's the same reason cause the mafias can do big business in these countries (just think that, for example, there is no "mafia association crime" in Germany), in fact when you talk about that, in these countries (UK included, London is the capital of laundering), people tell you who the mafias are not a problem (sure, I also would say so, given the money and investments they bring into the country); what the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve over (money suits everyone, no matter where it comes from).

  • @danielhakansson1911
    @danielhakansson1911 6 місяців тому +1

    As a Swede I thought I contribute to this comment section with some of my insight.
    Firstly, when someone says what about country X that also took in immigrants? They are seriously underestimating the proportion of how many Sweden took in. You have to compare numbers per capita, otherwise it’s useless data. Sweden have the highest degree of people with foreign born background (foreign born as defined as outside Europe). Sweden obviously doesn’t have a problem with immigrants from other European countries.
    Secondly, immigrants are segregated from Swedish society to such a degree that it’s defined as “parallel societies”. If you look at data from world value survey, Sweden is the most extreme country in the world. Sweden is among the most secular and non-traditional countries in the world, and the majority of immigrants comes from countries with the complete opposite values and norms. Imagine you are from Somalia, Syria or Iraq, you arrive in the most non-religious and non-traditional country in the world, you would most likely develop a resentment against Swedish diversity. The immigrant communities consist of people that often don’t speak swedish (even if they do, they don’t speak proper Swedish that makes you employable), they don’t celebrate or even know about Swedish norms and values. The Swedish law system is sometimes even contradictory to Islamic law. The distance between the cultures couldn’t possibly be further.
    Thirdly, our entire law system (police, courts, prisons, etc.) is based around an insanely high trust in government and governmental agencies. Back in the day, crimes were low, social trust was high and there really was no need to spend more tax money on law enforcement.
    Lastly, Sweden is a country which for the majority of the past 100 years have been social democratic (in American terms left wing liberals). With the faith in multiculturalism and tolerance comes naivety. Up until recently, if you criticised any of these policies you could face social repercussions, being labelled everything from racist, facist, alt right, etc.
    Fourthly, underfunding is (excuse my language) a fucking joke. I can’t think of another country one earth that spends more tax money on social housing, employment training, social services, public schools, after school activities, etc. Maybe it’s not saying much but I study political science and international politics, I have also traveled to and lived in 20 countries or so, probably 15 European countries. To my knowledge, Sweden spends the most amount of tax money on immigrant communities in Europe.
    Finally a small observation. I am myself a 23 year old student soon to begin studying my masters. One way of telling that Sweden is getting worse is looking at migration patterns among ethnic Swedes. Basically, everyone with enough money are moving to other European countries or move to nice areas in Sweden where prices are so high that almost no immigrants can afford to live there. The majority of other university or college students I talk to, all are thinking of moving abroad. In other words, people with high income or university students that expect to earn a lot after graduating are looking at other countries as a “second option” or as an “escape option”. In the long run of course this means that Sweden loses a lot of capital and business, which only escalates the problems.

    The problem is really that the whole planet is overrun with these types of predatorial social illiterates and they aren't just the gangs, but political nationalist and religious leaders as well, because both are just the culturally evolved outer clothings of gang culture. It's only one of the tragic antipeaceable aspects of human nature that a species that is half-a-chromosome away from being an inane chimp's tea party can't seem to grow up from. Some cultures manage to become semi-adult for a while, but then slump back into it, decomplexifying backwards into the same old rubbish state. This is how we're getting the right-wing lapses and resurgences like Brexit - and whatever other exits that have and are manifesting. i can't help thinking of the opening sequence of 2001: A Space Odyssey with the tribes bashing each other with their newfound weapons. The propensity for aggression, even with so far advanced cultural evolution, hasn't advanced far enough to totally rule out easily lapsed into complete savagery and intergroup hatred.

    I do not rly know where he got that numbers for Croatia. We are in 15 safest countries in the world with safest capitol city in Europe in 2023. That is according to European standards. Kids play alone in parks and girls can walk home in the middle of the night.
    We do have a lot of weapons since we were at war 30 years ago and a lot of them are not registered properly. You hear about murder here and there but it is so rare I do not even remember when was the last time I heard about it.
    We have bigger problems like corruption and fatal car accidents accompanied with a lot of DUIs but I really do not know where did he get those numbers for gun violence.

      @@supersmurf4884 We do not rly have gang violence at all. Most of our public shootings are heated arguments between two parties or drunk celebration with firearms.
      Even our ultra groups prefer to fight it out rather than using knives or guns. They do use batons and boxers. But it is not something I would consider gang violence and it happens rarely, mostly on local derbies.
      Croatia is not rly affected by immigration. Immigrants prefer countries with better social programs, we also have biggest asylum rejection rate in EU.
      Our demographics in 2023 are 98% white, 79% Catholic, 1.4% Muslim. We have population decline similar to most of the eastern Europe. But because of lack of immigration to Croatia and because we entered in the Schengen area this year we finally have lack of workers. Employers are now forced to raise their standards in workplaces because now they have to fight for workers that are left in Croatia. Transition into Schengen could not be in the worst time considering what is going on in the world. So things are not looking perfect but we are improving rapidly.

    I'm swedish and the problem started when EU were trying
    to "force" EU countries (I think back in 2015) to take alot of immigrants. Naive and "rich" Sweden (who for unknown reasons sold out most of it's important companies to other countries after year 2000), began to take much more immigrants than there are living spaces and jobs. This is also challenging our safety nets, and of course it effects our economy. When the massive wave of immigrants came it's not only the immigrants who got affected. Swedes were also living on the streets cause there was no living spaces available. And if it is very hard to get jobs, and also quite complicated demands to follow, in order to recieve money, it is understandable that people becomes criminals. It is always hard to get a job in Sweden. But it seems to get harder and harder.
    Swedish schools have not been cared about for many years. When I was in school 30 years ago or so schools was lacking behind in time and knowledge (according to my own knowledge).
    Many western women (including Swedish) have also got a very rude attitude towards men and in general. Check out "passport bros" if you don't know what this is. This doesn't help when alot of men comes from abroad and are looking for woman. I don't know if it was mentioned in this video but I think that Stockholm was called "the Rape capital of Europe". This may come from the woman's new idea to be able to "stand up for herself". Sweden is one of the countries with the highest feminism in the world. 50% of Swedes live in single households as I heard. And this might also affect men to give up their life and become criminals.
    Now, to mention, there are also female criminals among these gangs, even if the number is few. These things might be some causes for this gang violence.

      Well, EU had to deal with the amount of refugees from the Middle East and Africa when NATOs ambition of the "Arabic spring" failed. They toppled the governments in some states which led to a powervacum that enabled ISIS to enter the stage. It did not help that Reinfeldts government allowed the Christian democrats that subside for having parents stay at home with kids instead of having kids at kindergarten at the same time as immigration tripled. These kids could barely speak Swedish even when they then we're to start school which then required even more resources from already burdened school system.
      The legislative and organisational experience in the judiciary systems in Germany, Spain, Italy etc who have experienced fascism, violent terrorism in relative recent history probably matter.

  • @khanalprabhat
    @khanalprabhat 8 місяців тому +2

    Well... It's both an immigration problem and an integration problem.
    Immigrant skill problem: Most of the people who came to Sweden as refugees were lower-skilled people than what the Swedish labour force requires. This means they could not get jobs. They needed to be kept in social benefits for longer periods to upskill them through training and language learning. However, unlike what most people think, welfare money is very little and it's just enough to survive. Unfortunately, joining criminal gangs or selling drugs is an easier way to earn good money quickly (since there is no regular job for them due to not having appropriate skills for the Swedish labour market).
    Integration problem: Sweden is not like the US. To integrate into Swedish society, you need to integrate yourself legally (have proper paperwork and follow Swedish rules and regulations), financially (have a stable source of income like a job or business) and culturally (behave or even become a Swed). Cultural integration is very difficult (if not impossible for some) for people who grew up their whole life in another culture to suddenly behave like a Swed from Swedish culture which is very different from their own culture. Unlike the US where people will say something like "We don't care where are you from or what you do as long as you follow US rules and regulations, you are welcome", that is not true in Sweden. In Sweden, people say they want diversity but in truth they want foreigners to come from different diverse countries and cultures and become culturally Swedish. That is the main reason multiculturalism is failing in Sweden. It's difficult to integrate into Swedish society (especially for people with lower educational backgrounds or people with lower social awareness who don't want to change their way of life).
    I personally think Sweden has to decide what they want. Do they want diversity? Diversity means accepting other cultures which also means diluting their own cultural identity. Or do they want to keep Sweden exclusively culturally Swedish? Then Sweden has to stop talking about diversity and multiculturalism. Sweden wants diversity but at the same time wants to keep Sweden culturally Swedish which in my opinion can't happen. You can't have a cake and eat it. You have to choose one or the other. Sweden (and in fact many other countries in Europe) have not understood it yet. Not having a single cultural identity is OK (take the example of the US), or keeping the country culturally one and not doing multicultural is also OK (take the example of Japan). The problem is when you say something but you want something else. Then there is conflict.

    • @777mannen-bx5ji
      @777mannen-bx5ji Місяць тому

      Respectfully, you misunderstand the term "multiculturalism." Sweden embraced multiculturalism in the 70s... what this in actuality means is people keeping their own culture even though they live in Sweden, along with their own values etc. What you're talking about is "assimilation."
      The other misunderstanding people have is about the United States and multiculturalism. In actuality, United States is built around a high level of "assimilation." Meaning you're expected to embrace the American culture, values and way of life. You pledge allegiance to the American flag, etc... this is not in essence multiculturalism but assimilation. It's a lot deeper than what food you eat or religion etc... The American culture, values and way of life is supposed to be above your specific cultural traits. So it's more of a monocultural and multi-ethnic society than anything else...
      One good example of the contrast when it comes to Sweden is the fact that immigrants have the right and are encouraged to study their "home language" in school in Sweden, such as arabic, Somalian etc. That schools offer food for muslims that contain no pork... that a lot of schools no longer celebrate graduation in church, reluctance to raise the Swedish flags, that students celebrate graduation with their home countries flags... and that there's no expectation from society to embrace Swedish values, culture anywhere. Multiculturalism means different cultures lives side by side. Assimilation is when you embrace the culture of the country you move to.

    Its all because of an uncontrollable immigration policy which lasted for 10 years atleast. Main problem groups are immigrants from middle east and africa. These are so far from swedish culture that they created their own clansociety like back home. They dont care about Swedish laws which to them are jokes and they are not motivated enough to learn the language and take jobs. Many of them have backgrounds as militia and even terrorist groups and so are used to use weapons. Swedish people on the other side dont are used to weapons apart from hunting rifles etc. Also swedes have been pacified as a people havent had conflict for 200 years. Then suddenly in comes immigrants that see a free for all possibility to control drug and human trafficking. Todays government are the first to actually see the problems and try to act...much thanks to a growing party called Swedishdemocrates a nationalistic social conservative party. Somewhat of a old socialdemocrate party but with more emphasis on freedom to choose for its citizens and security.

      There sure are those cases. But many people don't speak Swedish, many people don't have the right education, many don't have Swedish values, many people don't want to work, many people don't take responsibility for their own situation. Many of them hate and despite Sweden and Swedes and dont wanna live in the same society, they wanna keep to their own kind. All have the same opportunities but yet not everybody take the opportunity they get. Trust me if they apply for the same work with higher education than a swed then they get the job 110% it's about education not about the name. When I search for a job I 90% of the times don't even get and answer. Also if u have a criminal history it's less chance u get a job. In ur little perfect world all gets a job! But in fact the government doesn't want everybody to get a job, they need underemployed people. They can't and don't want the underemployed % to go lower than 3-4% and that's a fact. It's all about education, it all starts at the school bench.

    Sweden has moved in a more neo-liberal direction since the 90’s and we’ve had liberal mid/right-wing gouverments several times that for decades were pushing for/implementing privatizations, deregulations (within the welfare system, schoolsystem etc) and a higher level of migration. This has led to more segregation. The Socialdemocratic party buildt such a strong welfare system during the 1900’s though and a lot of the reforms they implemented are seen as basic rights by such large parts of the population that the right-wing gouverments hasn’t attempted to tear down such things as free education, elderly care for everone, free dentalcare for kids, heavily subsidized preschool, universal healthcare etc. But the welfare-system is not as strong as it used to be, and Sweden is not as equal as it used to be.
    .
    In the 80’s we had the best and most equal school-system in the world and thats not the case today.
    .
    Denmark has kept a stronger more classic welfare system and danish gangcrime-researchers say this is part of the reason why they do not have the problems with gang-crimes that Sweden have today. They say that yes migration could play a part but a stronger welfare-system/less segregated society would have made integration more well-functioning, harder punichment could sometimes have a positive effect- but in some cases it could have the opposite effect.
    .
    And now we, due to the problems we have with gang-crimes, have a nationalist party (with neo-nazi-roots from the 90's) in parliament that in the election 2022 became Swedens second biggest party and they cooperates with the liberal/conservative right wing gouverment since then. The parties in that gouverment said upuntil a couple of years ago that they would never cooperate with that nationalist-party - that they were a threst to our Democracy etc.
    I know a lot of Americans has talked about Sweden as a ”socialist country” for decades like if everything stays the same. Sweden is not the same country as it was in the 80’s, no country is. And we've never been a socialist country to start with but Sweden used to be a very strong socialdemocratic welfare state. Sweden still has one of the absolute strongest welfare systems in the world though and our crime-rates are of course much lower than the crime-rates in the US.
    .
