I was my Cousins best man at his wedding, in 1999. All of the groomsmen got Tag Heuer Professional watches, I however got the Carerra, in the highest model available at the time. 20+ years later, it still looks like a million bucks.
In relation to case sizes, Carrera is available in 41mm (Calibre 16 aka 7750), 42mm (Heuer 02), 43mm (7750/Heuer 01/02), 44mm (Heuer 02) and finally 45mm (Heuer 01/02). The 43mm and 45mm models are discontinued to the best of my knowledge. Heuer 01 is an inhouse movement with about 50 hours power reserve, while 02 is the latest iteration of that movement with an 80 hour power reserve. Thanks for the review Rob
It’s so strange how something can become over exposed. It’s like tag heuer has become too much of a house hold name for watch nerds to appreciate. I’ve never held a tag in my hand but before someone decides if a watch is worth 1500 or 5000 you kind of need to touch it and look at it really closely. I mean the differences between expensive watches are very subtle. very minor finishing details. the way pins fit together. the feel of the crown. But when a lot of people hear tag it’s like “nope”. The watch doesn’t even get a chance.
It looks beautiful, refined and sporty at the same time. Really suites your wrist as well. Craftsmanship looks super high quality. Very impressed with the history behind the Carrera too, epic collection 👍
in the luxury watch world, I personally think Tag is the most affordable ones not to mention, their designs are gorgeous... yes it's not Omega or Rolex, but look at the price and you'll think Tag is even too cheap (even though it's expensive already). so yes, I love TAG HEUER
This was my 1st luxury watch was a carerra. It’s not bad and I think it’s actually a steal on the preowned market. It wasn’t this exact model. I just remember Brad Pitt was on the poster lol
I owned Carrera 41 mm, dived into the sea with them, climbed mountains, dropped them, hit them many times.... and for more then 10 years nothing happen to them... still working fine.
My boss has the Carrera with the blue dial. It is a pretty awesome watch! While I'm personally not a huge Chronograph fan, it's very impressive. I'm not sure why Huer gets so many noses are turned up at them. My wife gifted me the Aquaracer for our anniversary and I absolutely love it! Great video Rob!
The calibre 16 is a modified Valjoux 7750. The model you're showing is discontinued, but still available on the gray market. The new TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph uses an in-house movement. They cost close to $6000.
Nice looking watch, plenty of real estate on that dial... I think for another 1,000 I would go for the Breitling Chronomat chronograph with B01 in-house movment.
I find it really odd that there is only a 30 minute counter instead of a 60 minute counter especially since there is also a 12 hour counter so obviously it can measure elapsed time longer than 30 minutes. Maybe the 12 hour counter moves in 1/2 hour increments so you know whether your measured minutes is 0-30 or 31-60?
me too. i love checking out watches at saltzmans in cranston, then a 2 minute drive over to providence diamond in garden city to look at rolex and tudors.
@@motaz1975 I want to check out Providence diamond. I wanna see if they have the older Black Bay chrono for me to try on as I dont know if itll fit me when im ready to get it in a year. One place for you to check out in a month is MRT Jewelers. I went there to see some Seiko's but soon they'll have the Seiko LX line and also Frederique Constant.
Funny, I would be the opposite, whenever I see the 42mm Speedmaster it disappoints as retro designs don't do it for me. Tag are right up there if you want something modern looking and some brilliant value to be had on grey market.
Get ready for condensation building up for this watch. I was in the market for this reference back in 2016 and still on my list. That being said, purchased two Omega Aqua Terra's, current Seamaster 300m, and the current Speedy in the last fiver years or so. Still have the Omega's and still interested in this Tag but don't think will ever buy one lol.

Great review Rob! That is the first Tag Heuer to catch my interest in a long time. I doubt I could ever buy it, unless it was a preowned watch.
I was thinking about the new Porsche model of this one. Gone back and forth the last few months on getting it.

Have a 42mm Carrera 02. It's excellent even if no one wants it to be lol.

That’s a truly tested watch. Excellent
The company made mistakes yes. I have a calibre 16 day date and absolutely love it.

Great video Rob!
Sold my Rolex submariner with the Cyclops for a Tag Heuer carrera calibre 5, very happy with my decision.
What’s with the hate that TAG gets, they look really nice watches.
I bought this watch a few years ago. Good stuff 😊👍

What happens if it’s discontinued, does the price of the watch increase?
@@SeanManks On tag, sadly no.
Such a nice watch
Yes I have one enjoy wearing it beautiful watch
nice supreme clock. this watch also is beyond great.

One of the nicer looking Tags I've seen. Not sure about the pushers. Three different style pushers?
Rob! Any signs to look out for when spotting fakes with this piece?? Key signs or operating tells?
I love that watch, but $4850?
I like this chrono, but it looks too thick, and the sides of its case is pulished and I guess that these will be to scratched easly....
Good looking watch! Lots of info on that dial, but the 05 does look nice 👌
Same weight as my Mido Ocean Star GMT, which is a bit thinner.
The movement is an ETA on the calibre 16. Also this is the 43mm version which became extinct for the now 44mm. It’s a much better size at 43mm.
I'm bad with colors. Is that the grey face or black face? Can't tell. Great video!
It would be cool if someone lumed a chrono and the little ring around the pusher. I like the looks of this one, its not for me but its very nice.
Looks like the chrono seconds hand is stuttering!
Accuracy?
when did this model come out ?
I saw one about 10 years ago..
Hermoso reloj
Eyyyyyyy rhode island is where im from. Haven’t checked Saltzmans but check out Grenons of newport. Theres alot of independent brands they carry.

@@ScreaminEagle35 ya i forgot MRT. got a few seikos there and our wedding rings.
Looks like it's using a slightly modified Valjoux/ETA 7750
Think its to pricey for 100 metre waterproof ...there better value around for that price..
For a chronograph that’s really good
Tag seems does not make any no date watches, which I prefer
Next time give some warning before you give the price. I almost choked on my cookie 🥴
Lol
Nice looking watch but a bit too large for my taste.
Carrera. Carrera. Carrera.porsche.....chronograph...even 500 dollars i never put on my whrist but good review like always
Awsome
It looks nice, but all it really does is make me want a Speedmaster more if I'm being honest.

I love Omega. You made the right purchases 😊 I like Tag too😊
Water condensation??
Strange. My caliber 5 carrera day date 41 mm has much smoother movement on the second hand
