      Thanks :) I'm still only a year into this hobby so I know there's still plenty to learn, but i never want to get into that mindstate of "knowing it all" and this channel's all about learning & discovery as much for myself as it is for people who watch the videos.
      This review in particular was a great experience too just becuase at the time i filmed it it I had bought into those preconceptions that Tag Heuers were in some way inferior or lesser quality but i still wanted to find out if they were really true, but I was happy to be proven wrong by this watch & several other Tag Heuers that I've tried out since making this video.
      Thanks for commenting & I look forward to seeing you in the comments on future videos too :)

    I have this watch, sir, Tag Heuer Carrera caliber 16 automatic, and when I walk in a shopping center, I become the center of attention, especially in front of a watch shop, I like the automatic type because the watch movement is visible from the outside and the movement cover The hands are made of glass, so they look beautiful and cool

    I have to say that the watch looked big on your wrist. I prefer the smaller 41mm carerra or the grand carrera which I have tried in person and had great fit and finish. I agree for your last negative about the look. Regardless, Carerra is an iconic model for Tag Heuer. I liked the macro shots no review is complete without them. Thumbs up

      Thanks! I was so glad that this one had a see through caseback so I could really get in there with the macro and see the details of the movement, its like another world when you get that close on a movement like that

      @@ShahLusso Sorry for the slow reply. I've had it for less than a month now. So still early days. I did have a Swiss Eagle Mens Field Battalion Chronograph and Casio Edifice Chronograph which I've sold recently, nothing special. I've just ordered a Seiko Men's Five Sports Stainless Steel Water 100M Resist Automatic Watch SNZF17J1 as an everyday watch, plus for swimming local and overseas. My work is a bit rough to wear the TAG HEUER.

    Nice review, if they made a 39~40mm I'd be all over it.
    I had a 41 Carrera and gave it to my brother. I did actually feel the 16.3 height.
    Still miss that watch, but still rockin a Link.

    Thanks for the thoughtful review. I can't decide if I like the black or grey (anthracite) better. Personally I wish they would have omitted the day of the week, and just gone with the day number, like on the 1887.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  5 років тому +1

      It's a tough decision, the black offers better contrast making it easier to read, but i do think the anthracite looks better.
      Check out these references if you prefer it to have just the date while still maintaining a similar look:
      CARRERA CALIBRE HEUER 01 Ref: CAR201W.BA0714
      CARRERA CALIBRE 16 Ref: CBM2110.BA0651
      Hopefully those help with deciding & thanks for watching & commenting :)

    Good review.
    You have a lot of valid points.
    To state that most watches and cars from the 2000s aren't noteworthy, isn't entirely correct in my opinion.
    But perhaps in an generic sense, it would be correct.
    I have this watch (white dial) for the second time in my collection.
    I agree that it does work as a single watch in a collection.
    It's not too easy to see where it stands compared with other watches.
    The quality is certainly there.
    It's a shame that the company decided to make inexpensive entry level watches. It probably resulted in a good profit, but it really hurts the brand name/imagine.
    Perhaps people expect Carrera quality for the entry watches, which results in disappointment.
    Quality wise, I would place this watch above Tudor and Oris but it doesn't reach Panerai/IWC quality either. Perhaps a bit under Panerai.
    All in all, quite a nice watch for the race car enthusiasts (like myself).

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 роки тому +1

      Very true regarding Tag Heuer moving down market at their bottom end - it doesn't do justice to the upper ends of their collection which I agree are much better quality than the brand overall gets credit for - things like this Carrera, the Carrera 02, Autavia, the new Monaco are all great watches.
      And fair point, the 2000s did produce some cool watches and cars (BMW Z8, Spyker C8, Enzo, Aston Martin DB9, Porsche Carrera GT, Hublot Big Bang, RM-01, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 5015) but IMO the 00s signaled a more generic design approach for both industries - but at the end of the day that's all completely subjective.
      Out of curiosity - you mentioned your white dial Carrera 16 is in the collection for the 2nd time, how come you let it go before?

    • @r.j.1456
      @r.j.1456 3 роки тому

      @@ShahLusso
      Well said, I was actually thinking about those cars you mentioned.
      There is for example also the BMW E60 V10 and the Audi RS6 V10 & Audi S8 V10, which are actually absurd sport cars dressed up as cruisers.
      Too bad this trend ended after the 2010's, when manufacturers were forced to downside their engine displacements.
      The Carrera in particular is quite a car.
      The majority of the watches and cars were quite generic however.
      Big and bold seemed to be the main filosofi for the early 2000 watches, which neglected the need for a touch of refinement.
      I sold my first TAG heuer due to an other interesting watch that came by. The Tag Heuer had to make way.
      But, thinking back, I've always quite enjoyed it.
      Hence my second purchase. 🙂
      At the moment, I drive an Audi S8, the Carrera matches beautifully I must say!
      Do you still have your Tag Heuer?

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 роки тому +1

      You're right! I completely forgot about the E60 M5...monster of an engine. And in general I'd say Audi was a winner from the 2000s since it started off their bigger grill phase that's carried on up until now (though some of their grills have gotten out of control 😆)
      The S8 is really cool too, do you have the V10 or one of the V8 ones?
      The Tag Heuer from the video wasn't actually mine, was lent in for review by a friend of mine (he still has it and actually recently got it serviced so most likely it's going to stay in his collection for quite a while) but this watch as well as learning more about Tag Heuer over the years has really got me considering getting a Tag, I'm particularly fond of the Autavia 02 and the 2020 Carrera 42mm with the 02 in it :D

      I agree that Audi made a modern car already in the 2000s.
      I have a '07 V10 model.
      Although it's 15 years old, it's not looking that dated.
      Sure, the MMI System is a joke compared with the current technology, but all in all, it still looks quite fresh.
      The most important and impressive aspect is of course the engine, which makes me smile every time I'm behind the wheel!
      I see. What's your personal watch at the moment, if I may ask?
      I checked the Tag Heuer models you've listed, their quite nice I most say! Very classy indeed.
      Seems like Tag Heuer is embracing the Heuer section of old, which is quite a good move from the company!

      @@r.j.1456 I can imagine, that V10 just sounds amazing! I currently own an Omega Seamster 300M Diver, Cartier Pasha Seatimer, and a Steinhart Ocean 1 GMT that i use as my beater watch. I used to have a Tudor Black Bay Chrono but I sold it to buy the Cartier so probably my next watch will be something that brings a chronograph back into the collection :D

    I just bought this watch for my 2 wedding anniversary and both my wife and I love it. I went to the jewelry store and got robbed but oh well. I have 2 Luxury Movado’s 2 Luxury Suit and Tie Bel-Air’s 2 Dress Casual Citizens so I wanted a watch that spoke to my financial status. However not rob me to the tune of $10-$20k. This Tag was it nicely priced at under 5k and they gave me a break on price because I bought an anniversary ring for the wife. I am so far happy. I think it is a ANY OCCASION watch.

    You say it will fight a cuff but would be useful in an office environment...

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  4 роки тому +1

      It’d still work as a watch for the office (IMO), but it’d be too big and present for a formal occasion that would require a dress watch.
      Especially with more and more offices going more casual, this could still be manageable even if it stands out a bit with a suit or shirt cuff.
      Hope that’s a bit clearer :)

    I have a small wrist! But I really like this one. I was considering getting the PVD titanium version of this watch. But the lug to lug and overhang is worrying me.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  2 роки тому

      If it helps, my wrist is 17 cm for reference on how it fits. If you do like the Carrera case they do also have smaller versions in 40-42mm so you might find one in that range if you want to limit the overhang since they do reduce the size relatively proportionately.

  • @fc-8843
    @fc-8843 5 років тому +3

    Holy, for a 43mm that looked huge on your wrist.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  5 років тому +1

      The fully polished case makes it look a lot bigger than its diameter. Also the black dial with matching black bezel adds a little more to the visual impact of the face of the watch. If you check my video of the IWC Pilot watch review, that one's 43mm but its full satin and it wears a lot smaller. Also I think the lugs on the Carrera are a bit longer so that adds to the overall wrist presence too.
      For myself I keep my watches between 39-42mm so either one would be too big for me personally, but for people that prefer a bigger watch or have the wrist size for a 43mm then the full polished case definitely wears bigger vs a satin or mixed finish case.
