Thank you so much for this! We recently and unexpectedly lost our dog. While it may sound silly to some, we're very sad and miss her so much. Our photos of her were stored on a laptop locked with a password we've since forgotten. With this video we were able to again see the face of our pup that we miss so dearly. I can only assume others that have since forgotten their passwords and have lost family members and friends are in this same situation. NEVER in a million years did I think it would be possible to get into it without a reset or pre-made key. WOW. Side note, this is really disconcerting to know in terms of security lol.

Worked Perfectly!!! best solution if you forget your laptop's password and security questions. Since i Switched to a desktop pc and haven't used my laptop in over 2 years, i totally forgot the password to it and this helped!!!
Thanks a lot! My PC suddenly said my correct password was incorrect. This is the only working method I found that doesn't require reinstalling windows. Fixed it in a few minutes.
@@hassanelhadi9145 Yes, everything stays intact, only the password is removed. Just follow the video and you'll be fine. Only difference is that I created the bootable USB on Mac so I used Etcher instead of Rufus.

Important: You will need another computer to create the USB like how I did it on a working machine, Once you follow the guide and you have the USB go to the locked machine and apply the steps.

Dear Danish, I have followed everything but it says "Error: Access to the device is denied". So I tried to format the flash drive to Fat32 instead. Still the same. I tried NTFS, still the same. Can you help please?

Anyone thats using a usb because u ran out space on your old laptop...u will need 2nd usb's to plug in after u download both of the things he told u to download. I created the USB per your instructions, took a lot longer than what you showed when you created the USB. I had to change a setting to get the legacy boot menu. I chose the USB to boot to, but I get the error "there isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device" What do I do?

If you install the HBCD on the lexar flashdrive first, how can you then put the Rufus on the flashdrive when it tells you it's going to destroy anything that is already on the flashdrive?
I'm following you video and so far everything is working but when I get to clicking open on the NT the pop up says "SAM file opened read-only. so changes cannot be saved". It only has a OK button to click and then the program still doesn't show any names. Did I miss something?

Instead there's a whole code with information like FreeDOS kernel, copyright rights, FreeCom version and then I think I'm supposed to write something for the C partition, as it shows "C:\>". Did this ever happen to anyone?
It was working fine until I got to the screen to open the Sam file. It popped up a small screen saying that I had to change the attributes to write, but I was unable to find a "write" anywhere in the properties

Hello. I’m trying to help a coworker open his deceased in law’s computer. The only problem is that I only have a chrome book and Rufus doesn’t open on my chrome os. Is there another way to create the bootable usb?
I get a white screen whenever I turn on my other laptop computer, with an error message that says the computer is password protected, and that I won't be allowed to do anything in the computer, without the correct password. Have you ever had that problem before? And if so, did you know of a way to fix that problem? It won't go to any other screen - it just shows the very same message, no matter what keys I press when I turn on that computer. I think I managed to make a bootable dvd with a linux operating iso on it, but when I put the hard drive into that computer, it doesn't recognize it - it doesn't show up. I had copied the iso onto it by putting it's hard drive into an external drive case, and plugging it in, and also plugging in the bootable DVD I think I've made.
Does this erase all the data in your computer like your pictures and everything and start all over or does it just help you get in when you forget your password? I'm trying to get in my old laptop to save the pictures and documents but I'm worried that doing this will erase them.
It will not erase data just reseting your password. But we can not guarantee anything make sure you take backup from a different account. So far I have not seen any data erased with this. Thanks
I used this instead of Ubuntu to boot to help get some stuff off of my buddys laptop but all the data is hidden and not on the pc anymore any ideas on how I can revert it back to where it was because all the data is gone now I can see the folders when I go into recovery mode but its like I basically overwrote the old user and remade a windows account
You have many happy results, but I am having difficulty following your instructions. I download the .iso file and the rufus tool (3.20). The rufus tool does not find USB neither does it find the .iso fil. I manually copied both files to the USB and tried rufus again but it doesn't find the iso file. How can I get rufus to find the iso file?

Seriously it is working. Thanks man. I had to made little changes with ur procedure but finally worked for me. Changes I made : I had to change boot mode to 'Lagacy' instead of UEFI. Then worked for me. Thanks again

I have downloaded the latest Rufus. Now it says "Error: Unable to assign a drive letter"

When I downloaded and clicked on HBCD it says I don’t have permission to mount the file.
The HBCD isn’t on the “select drop down box”

@@Improafrosessions Finally had to take it to the shop. They said I had a corrupted file. They finally did a wipe of the OS and reloaded it.

You need to ensure that you downloaded rufus portable one not some other rufus

This way may not work if the system drive has been bit-locked - you can't access the system drive information hence you can't change the password.

Seriously it is working. Thanks man. I had to made little changes with ur procedure but finally worked for me.
Changes I made : I had to change boot mode to 'Lagacy' instead of UEFI.
Then worked for me. Thanks again
