I'd never buy the new until its too late and if the game does great on selling then were all fucked beacuse just imagine splitting the community in three the OG fans the Sr3 Sr4 fans and literally the kind of people who bought the game beacuse they thought it was a fortnite expansion
I won't be buying it. I've been a fan since the original, I've played everything saints row related and this new one just doesn't sit well with me. SR2 is my favourite in the series. I didn't like the direction the game started taking with SRTT but I definitely enjoyed it, laughed and had fun etc. SR4 bored the hell out of me, I was never into sci-fi and found myself going back to play the original and SR2 after completing SR4. But even in space, simulations and being the president, I still felt like the saints essence was there, a lot of purple, the characters were interesting and they brought back arguably the best character in the series Gat. But with the reboot, I'm not drawn in by anything. It just doesn't seem like saints row to me. When I saw the graffiti wall I was so exited, thinking they finally listened, we're finally getting saints row back. But from what we've been given all I see is unlikeable college students masquerading as gangsters in a desert. If this game wasn't called saints row I wouldn't even give it a second look let alone buy it and play it. I don't want to play as relatible millennials in any game and having these as the main cast of a Saints Row game feels like a massive middle finger to not only the original fans but also fans of 3+4. The recent tweets don't help either. Some of the new features seem like they may be interesting but I won't hold my breath. So no I won't be buying. #notmysaintsrow

It's ironic coming from the same bunch of developers who sold out Saints Row just to appease all the *real* haters who complained about it being similar to GTA (in spite of the many obvious differences).
@DDGX 28 How is he dumb if he say that he doesn't want to waste his money due to them calling their fans haters, in plus it rude for the devs to call their og fans and supporters haters when we the ones who support them from the start, in plus you spell dumb wrong.
Yeah I was going to give this a fair trial, I’m not normally too fussed on things and relatively easily pleased. Sure I prefer 1 and 2 but I don’t mind 3 and 4. Even agents of mayhem had some redeemable things about it and I like these games for what they are and might like this for what it is too. However, with how they’ve reacted and treated their fans? No I want to see these people crash and burn and I’ll pick this up second hand if I do so at all.
When you think about it, the games parallel Volitions' rise and coming fall. They started off treating the fans with respect and now that the money and fame got to their head, they decide to instead pander to their corporate overlord. Johnny Gat called it back in Saints Row 3: "Commercials? Energy Drinks? I remember when the Saints used to mean something."
Johnny Gat: “Commercials? Energy Drinks? The saints used to mean something!” The Boss: “Our brand’s worth a s***ton of money!” Johnny Gat: “Is that what it’s all about?” A conversation from saints row 3 that perfectly describes the series today, as Viola said, “Its always about the money, Mr Gat”
@CalNotNice I disagree about Sr3 gameplay being better than 2s 3s gameplay was way too wacky and cartoonish. The ragdoll and animations during shootouts were rediculous. Like why are cops and gang members trying to do football spins around bullets, why is there a tron rollerblade assassin and cloned Giant KGB agents trying to kill me in gang feuds?
@UCI7O6gJWq64b8_FieVZquxg the saints were always purple, changing the colour is basically saying yeah fuck you this game is gonna be completely different to what you expected
That's assuming all the employees aren't the ones pushing to make these new characters. These studios are full of SJW employees that try to push their moral crusade. Look at Redbull, they had a strike because Redbull corporate wasn't woke enough.
i mean ,look at them in the video when they have the sign"we love fans" look at their faces, they knew it was not what wanted, their company is owned by most powerful ones who just tell them"make a game with weak corny zoomers charachters" it is what they think will be a hit, they study the market and they hope copying fortnite ad others they will make money,is sad you can read in their eyes
@@Swampert_Tube yes, the one and only Mike made it, now Volition has said they are working on it. Lets see if they still hold that promise. I mean otherwise i am afraid the worst will happen. Which is they killed someones LIFE work, time etc. All for nothing. That would be An utterly disgusting but also exposing thing of how this corporate lunatic gaming industry works today.
Their logo got no ears. It makes too much sense why they mistreat their core fans. Being a longtime fan, and blatantly ignored? Not a soul would be quick to forgive Volition.
Saints Row 4 was never meant to be a full game. It was intended to be a DLC for SR3 but the THQ got bankrupt and sold of Volition to Deep Silver and DS told them to push a new SR game ASAP, and thus we have SR4. AOM failed so hard that a significant amount of Volition's staff got laid off. The new SR is the last hope for Volition it is either do or die.
Everything said here is absolutely true one year later. However, we got a combination of the good and bad ending. The game failed, but Volition is too insane and hateful of it's fanbase that they will act like it's a success and they 'beat the haters' as the company folds from lack of sales across the board. These people that have taken over Volition are the scum of the earth. They are deranged people that were force fed hate of everything American growing up and they want to destroy everything we love. The best thing we can do is find out who they are and boycott any game they are apart of making, until eventually they get blacklisted because everything they make doesn't get the company a penny. That's the only way I can think of making this finally stop.
The only thing Saints row related I'm doing is watching the mass influx of videos like this. Real OG fans voicing their opinions after years of being tossed aside by devs
I'm tremendously disappointed as a TRUE OG SAINTS FAN (Strictly 1 & 2)but I'm no were near as disappointed as I was when SR4 came out(not SAINTS),I hate the new reboot characters, but my roleplay will be that Gat,Pierce and Shaundie have been kicked from the whip/Saints for selling out and now we have the new "Saints" and they need my(OG Boss Saint) help, and after that I'll officially give up on the Saints.P.S. I'm not buying the reboot until it goes on sale for 15 bucks or less, don't care if it's 5 years from now,I bought SR4 for 4 bucks(brand new) 2 years ago cause I was so heartbroken by it,then I played it and went through deep depression🤨.RIP The TRUE OG 3rd Street Saints!
The sole reason why SR3 sold so well was because people were expecting the same tone and level of quality front 2. People bought SR3 waiting MORE OF SR2 no a change
A big reason why I think Saints 2 was so big was the story and game took itself seriously yet you could be super wacky, like a Neil Breen bad movie which is wacky but completely serious. Whereas a bad movie which knows it’s bad is worse. And what you said about the reboot naming reminds of what happens to Battlefront
Saints Row 2 gots humor and grittiness in equal measure. as every "gangster" story should be. the game took itself seriously, while not forgetting laughs and funny parts. it almost looked like a great TV series and every mission cutscene was just amazing. same goes for the first one
@@siddhartino I Got Laugh with Expression in Sr2 MC 😂😂.. while sr3 has no emotion like SR2 did when Getting Hit or dismiss your homies.. and SR2 is the saint row games and make you think the MC you play is More like Villain since The Gangs Leader Afraid to take you alone and always have Their Bodyguard... And the last SR we see Boss taking all enemies alone while in SR3 the boss always need help and Didn't badass anymore only badass when jump to another Plane when Destroy the STAG Plane
This reboot makes 3 and 4 look good. Tbh, I didn't really see a problem with 3 or 4 as a game, but I definitely get the complaints people would have for the game deriving away from what it really used to be because Saints Row 1 and 2 were legendary. This remake is gonna be fuggin trash.
We literally know almost nothing about the gameplay, structure, story beats or any substantive information regarding the characters. Maybe wait and see before riding it off immediately.
The saints row reddit became a joke since the cgi trailer was posted. They are blindly believing everything volition is saying about the game(even though volition didn't show anything) and are calling every fans who didn't like the new saints row a hater
They could save the game if the characters they showed in the trailer were revealed to be imposters and we get to kill them off in the beginning of the game after again getting out of prison lol. Just an idea
@@crasyman101 I highly doubt that's where they're going if we look at everything they've said so far it seems like we're just getting what we see here.
Nobody buys games because it supports their political opinions. No one. They might praise it for it, they might force the developers to change stuff in social media, but they aren't gonna buy it.
Correct. Especially the woke scolds. They buy nothing that they bitched about, they want it changed to ruin your enjoyment of it, not because they have any intention of purchasing it themselves.
The game used to mock all the PC stuff, being always polemic, with the penetrator and stuff... but now they became what they used to mock, they became the dweeb that they used to bully and laugh about.
I've got the impression they're aiming their game at the new generation which are now growing up with games like Fornite. Helmets with smiley faces, characters which look like they're from Fornite and the overall goofy cartoony feel, simply is giving me that sort of impression. I ain't sure if yall feel the same way but I sure as hell feel that way
5:17 devil may cry 2 outsold every game in its series but 5. This is the only argument you need on why sales numbers is a bad measurement of popularity. 3 most likely sold the most for the same reason dmc2 did; it’s older brother was so popular it guaranteed sales on its own. Hell sr4 selling worse than two also fits this, as dmc3 was the least selling game in the series because the last game shook people’s trust. By saying 3 was the highest selling game in the series, you’ve only admitted that 2 made the series so popular that its sequel guaranteed success just by its sequel.
I think a core issue in the industry is that people who are passionate about making games get disillusioned by the corporatism, bad working conditions, and leave the industry. Then they get replaced by people who are only passionate about *saying* they make games. I also think there's a clear LACK of focus on hiring who is best for the job, but that's another rabbit hole I suppose. So we end up with stuff like this, Crackdown 3, Back 4 Blood, and more.
Honestly, I think Volition deserves to be shut down for good now, they've spent years disrespecting their fans and stomping on their only IP that anyone cares about, I'm completely done with them at this point and I hope to see them shut down after this dumpster fire
I’m glad Volition will go out of business after this. They were already hanging by a thread with AoM but managed to survive only to not learn anything.
As you very well know, I am a massive fan of the SR games. I watched the new trailer and was, as most others, very disappointed. I still told myself that I’d give the game a go but after watching this video, I realised that you are completely right. I will not support this company that have deceived and disappointed me for so many years. I will NOT be buying the game!
It's honestly sad. We've been like parents watching volition go off the rails and for 8 years we were like "it's gotta just be a phase, they'll go back to normal soon enough" but clearly it wasn't just a phase
I personally enjoyed the wakiness of 3 even though it was a little much at times. Story wise I like 2 the best and honestly I prefer it over all in general. If they could find a balance between 2 and 3 I think it would be gold.
Exactly. I had no problem with the saints getting bigger but it woulda been better if they were more of organized crime/ modern day mafia/ cartel style rather than the "brand" they turned into in SR3. They could've kept some of the wacky side stuff while maintaining the serious story telling....... but........

It's the reason I cared for it over GTA in general as I enjoyed the over the top aspects of it as it felt like it was doing it's own thing other than just being a GTA clone. And I personally did like 4 even though it's a goddamn mess when it comes to bugs and optimization.

The Dead Rising mall music was a nice touch. Made me realize how what's happening right now with Saints Row is quite similar to what happened to Dead Rising back in 2016. In fact, come to think of it, Dead Rising and Saints Row kind of suffered the same fate. Both started out as games that took themselves seriously but the player had the liberty to "create their own fun" and take them as seriously or as lightheartedly as they liked, and in the end they both ended up as weird caricatures that were shadows of their former selves, with the later sequels having almost nothing in common with previous entries. Dead Rising 3 jumped the shark the same way Saints Row: The Third did, it's almost uncanny how similar these events are. While I remain extremely skeptical regarding the SR reboot, I hope it doesn't end up like the absolute disaster that was DR4.
I had the same revelation. And it will. The “grounded environment” is no different to how dr4 brought back Willamette. The return to crime is frank is back. It can only end this way because this is the only outcome of a game made by a bunch of people who didn’t work on the series till now and have no connection to the fan base.
There are quotes from the devs laying this entire disaster at their feet. Not Deep Silver which operates independently from THQ, and not the holding company that owns them both. This is 100% on those talentless hacks at Volition.
@@grabble7605 isn't that what volition did ? fans of the series just wanted an old school saints row game and when they revealed this trash and everyone hated it, they acted all high and mighty and called anyone who had an opinion about the game a hater
"Playing a sanitized corporate disgrace, while ensuring the originals never see the light of day." I believe this is starting to be a thing in video game industry and there will be more of this. Rockstar fucked up the remasters of the old GTA games, so the new generations of players will try them, think they're just terrible games and move on to consume new games. Mafia 1 got a remake, that's inferior to the original, with a lot of 'modern' elements making the gameplay worse. People will play it, thinking it's like the original, but it's actually not. Eventualy there won't be any comparisons between new games and the old ones, showing the old being superior. The older generations of gamers will be forgotten and overwhelmed by younger and more casual (and woke) generations, who are made to think old games are terrible in every way and will be happy to consume the next sanitized corporate disgrace. And they'll own nothing a be happy.
That last part. Most consoles don't even have disc drives now, so you legitimately don't own any games, you have a license to play a digital game that can be revoked at any time.
I disagree on the Mafia 1 remaster being an example of this, as having played both through numerous times, the remaster actually does flesh out the originals story and makes parts of the old games that were just hard for hard's sake more fair so people could actually play the new games. I do agree with the sentiment however, especially since rockstar removed all older copies of the original GTA trilogy from purchase when they released definitive originally.
Honestly I think at this point, Volition is never going to go back to the franchise's roots because they just really don't want to. They've been trying to stray from the original two games' concept from the fourth, and at this point it just looks like they're trying to market anything as "Saints Row" just because the name is the only thing that brings people to buy any of their sh*t. Just look back at what they did with Agents of Meyhem (slap "Saints Row" on the box art) (aka that one game that has almost NOTHING to do with Saints Row, both story and gameplay-wise). I wont be buying the game or might download it somehow (I don't want them to get any of my $ nor do I want to pay 60 bucks for a game I probably wont like) and at this point, I just made up my mind about what the future of the franchise is going to be. Its either, the reboot somehow works and they keep going with that exact same sh*t, or it flops and they completely terminate it. Either way, it just wont ever deliver the experience I expect from it after the first two/three games and I think fans should just understand that. I feel like it's just going to be fuckups upon fuckups and disappointments upon disappointments from now on, as it's been from the fourth game onward. I'm so pissed to admit it and in a way I want to believe in the "good timeline" because of how unique Saints Row used to be. The second one was my favorite game ever, the story, the writing, the gameplay, the fact that you could play as literally any character in a universe that is super liberated, satyrical and fun. No other game really delivers that, and it just hurts to see what they're doing with the franchise. Btw, the fact that they're trying to appeal to younger audiences -- It doesn't work. They completely misinterpret their target audience and it shows. No doubt the Reboot wont be attracting a lot of new players. Honestly, these characters just REEK of the fact that everyone in their design team was 35+ trying to understand "what kids like these days". No one will bother playing it if GTAV is superior in both storyline and gameplay.
Very well said. At this point Im going to assimilate the fact that we'll never get another saints row as good as the first two or even 3 because, well...progress and the lack of interest from the volition team.

@@cendresaphoenix1974 Thank you, you mentioned something that alot of people either forget or ignore - Volition now has Epic Games backing. Excellent video. I feel that this definitely captures how I felt about the reboot and what people don't seem to get and why Volition's marketing against the old fans isn't working. Why we're tired of them always trying to appeal to everyone but their old fans.
Let's be honest. Something obviously went wrong. The OG Directors were not put on the project and probably put in the background. By the pictures in Credits, all the devs barley look 30. They had young blood devs fully make a SR game and we see the outcome. It's literally a result of Twitter vomit. They had these old devs shoved in the back and put these young, idiotic keyboard bashers in charge of the Twitter account, and crap on their fans.
This guy hates Fortnite Twitter having forced PC in gaming and wants the art of gaming and love for the fans to be more important than market research and deadlines. He's fucking awesome
would like to add a potential prospect to your proposed "good" timeline. I really hope this gets a DMC 5 treatment. By that I mean the devs and publishers realize that a reboot was a bad idea and make a direct sequel to the original games anyway.
Being a community manager for game companies sounds stressful. You communicate what the community wants, then the rest of the team just ignores you and you have to deal with the backlash.
after playing saints row 2 i've realized it was never super serious. It was effectively a cinematic gangster movie. Much like a spy movie it's not going to be accurate but it should still stay in the general genre. What if a spy movie just had a sequel that only had horror elements and cut all ties to being a movie about spies? That is what saints row 3 seemingly started. Not that s3 is by any means an awful or bad saints row game but I can see it being similar to how the resident evil series fell downhill after 4. They kept changing it so much that it only was the game in title.
I'm hoping for a third timeline: the timeline where this game flops so badly that Volition IS forcefully dissolved and an example is made for the gaming industry as a whole. Hopefully in this timeline Rockstar North pays attention and considers the demise of Volition should they ever get around to starting development of GTA VI.
I'm an OG fan, I did not purchase SR:GOOH because SR4 was such a disappointment. I have no problem ignoring "Saints Row goes to College". I'm busy playing the REAL Saints Row games over again.
You can also add to the list of disrespecting in the marketing by pointing out additinal thing. Content Creators had a private livestream that had 14 minute long gameplay. They saw things such as wingsuit, business management, co-op, and much more. However, what us, normal plebs got? Only couple of minutes of gameplay, with constant interruptions, and that had alot of said exciting features either barely touched upon, or outright left out. Content Creators are also alot more positive about the game (even though in unison they admit that the tone game takes is awful, as well as they're baffled as to why we're not allowed to see the 14 minute gameplay video). But we're far more angry. That's because we keep *hearing* about how amazing gameplay is, but we don't *see* it. It only makes people, by nature, more agitated, because they want to see for themselves how good this is. But this actually brings up additional problem, that really screws over content creators. Saintsgodzilla - he's a SR content creator that was invited in 2019 to Volition, and he was allowed to play the Reboot back then. In the Q&A, he mentioned he was absolutely "blown away" by it. Fast forward to today, and of course, people then started attacking him, because they felt betrayed. Then, Saintsgodzilla revealed crucial piece of the puzzle - he was shown only the gameplay, and initial concept arts, but he was not told anything about the story or the direction it'd take. Truth of the matter is, he was just as shocked for the reveal as everyone else. He went out to say that if he knew about the characters, he'd keep a lid on his excitement, that's how bad it is. He then apologized to everyone who got the idea off of him that we're going back to roots, even though he never said we do go back to said roots. Can you imagine, content creator for your game having to apologize for you? The trailer tarnished both Volitions reputation and his for that matter. And what terrifies me is that he might be the first from many. As I stated before - Content Creators got to see the gameplay that we didn't. They are given special treatment, that instills in normal fans jealousy. Jealousy then will lead to anger and agression. After all, we're the consumers, we're the ones who are going to buy it, so how come we don't get to see what they do. And make no mistake, I don't think creators are to blame. It's Volition that's, likely knowingly, putting them in this predicament. "Just wait until you see the gameplay trailer to see what we mean". The real question is - when will we see it? In month, two, or six? Ok, now that the facts are over, it's time for my mental delusions, so schizophrenia alert, conspiracy alert, you name it - this whole situation feels like Volition is trying to rile up fans against content creators. But... What if we're all being set up? What if this is an elaborate plan to get rid of old audience for the place of a new one? Volition shows content creators the amazing new gameplay, but then shows common folk the polar opposite. Content creators aren't as mad as common folk at Volition because they know the full scope, but people are taking their frustration on both volition and creators. Then, to add fuel to the fire, content creators get a special private stream, while us get snippets that are essentially not that informative - people proceed to get more pissed, they feel like content creators are getting special treatment (which, in a way, they indeed are). Then, Volition hopes creators will be extremely defensive of themselves, and doing their job of damage control for them. This then proceeds to create breakout between old community, which leaves because they feel cheated, and content creators, which are devastated by the assault, and then leaving permanently due to being burned out by rage directed towards them. But the plan backfired - content creators are also angry at them. Saintsgodzilla for example, he's absolutely furious with Volition right now, and I hope he's not the only one. Now, the contingency plan will be put in motion, and Jesus Christ, I hope I'm wrong about it, but mark my words if that happens - They'll cut all the exciting features content creators have talked about from the final game, and then they'll proceed to put the blame on them, saying they outright lied. I hope the last part is me going off of the deep end, but if they're aiming for the scorched earth tactics, that is the way to do it. But of course, this is all a theory... A conspiracy theory.
All the games since Saint's Row 3 have seen diminishing returns, and Agents Of Mayhem in particular sold terribly. I think that there's a good chance that this is actually Volition's last chance. If this game is a total bomb, that may very well just be it for them.
Now that the reboot dropped, the level of disrespect to OG fans from Volition and Deep Silver is insane. They sold us out to pander to the woke crowd and deliver a PG game everyone can play with gangster missions replaced by missions where you take pictures of stuff and can't forget about the dumpster diving....

The game lost but Volition has jumped ships from Deep Silver to Gearbox and has dissolved.
"Playing a sanitized corporate disgrace, while ensuring the originals never see the light of day."
I believe this is starting to be a thing in video game industry and there will be more of this.

Sounds like you're busy making shit up. Nothing been said about the Saints going to college.
late congrats on your 200 subs mate, but don't let the fame change you... remain humble
I like the way you think!
Yeah that last part is pure schizo shit
@@mrshadowduh9394 What can I say. At least it serves for a good read, or gives bit of a chuckle.
All the games since Saint's Row 3 have seen diminishing returns, and Agents Of Mayhem in particular sold terribly. I think that there's a good chance that this is actually Volition's last chance. If this game is a total bomb, that may very well just be it for them.
If they can't make a product that we want to buy, then they deserve to go away.
They have Epic's backing so even if it fails, I doubt it will end the studio.
Either close down or get absorbed by Epic Games only to become a Fortnite dev
AoM had potential bur even with all the stuff it had in it,it was just,,,bland
Now that the reboot dropped, the level of disrespect to OG fans from Volition and Deep Silver is insane. They sold us out to pander to the woke crowd and deliver a PG game everyone can play with gangster missions replaced by missions where you take pictures of stuff and can't forget about the dumpster diving.... The reboot is a total joke ;but not in the way most SR games are.
if none of us buy it then they might change it next time
This video is much appreciated 😁
The moment i read about Volition talking about ''cultural appropriation'',
talking about their earlier SR games as if they're outdated and offensive,
and acting like the reboot is their first game with a diverse cast,
i lost all hope that the game could be a return to form.
Oh boy, 9 years later and the Reboot sucks hard
Least we got the good timeline :D
I’m a fan of every Saints Row entry (even 4 & Gat out of Hell), and even I have to put my foot down with this reboot.
Yeah it kind of looks bad
