Well in this case problematic were bugs. Developers promised this is not newest build and newest will have fewer bugs. Turned out that they got way more bugs in the final build
See, here's the thing - the content creator that Hexagon mentioned in the video? The one that was kept in the dark about the plotline, so he was used as an artificial hype for the game, because they showed him gameplay only, and then got all the shits because he was misinformed? Yeah, that was about Saint's Godzilla. And frankly? He's absolutely furious with Volition for what they did. To quote him - if he knew about the new cast, he'd keep a lid on his excitement. Yes, it's that bad. He still stands that gameplay is the best he's ever seen, but he hates the everliving crap out of the new cast. Honestly, I've never heard him this angry before, and it kind of scares me. I'll be real, he did not deserve all the hate he got, but ultimately, it was Volition/Deep Silver that, knowingly, put him in this predicament. At first, I had my own theories, but after watching this video, this whole situation makes more sense then my mental delusions.
SaintsGodzilla was furious like hell, I've watched that man back to the days of SR3 glitches and DLC reviews and I've never heard him being this angry. Someone will probably bring his Agents Of Mayhem review, where he gave the score of 8/10 and didn't mentioned gameplay that much, but I don't think he was shill, just a lame review - nothing more. But if he is shill and that video about him being angry was fabricated - that would be too much for the community.
@@ChainikVlad You know, you just reminded me - flippy mentioned that he and Godzilla got early copies of AOM. At one point, the build they were playing was glitchy as hell. The reason they didn't mind was because it was in middle of development, so they mentioned here and there, but they weren't too excessive about it, because they didn't want to sound like haters. However, couple of weeks before the release, they played it again, it was still glitchy, and they were wondering when the day one patch was gonna go live for the build, so they called Volition about it... And they told them that day one patch went live last week, and dreadful realization kicked in. That being said - that review was 4 years ago, and not a single review released since. Probably enough time for self-reflection, or he simply realized he's not good at reviews. That, and, well, even if he was a shill back then, there was nothing to shill for past 4 years or so. That, and, well, after glitches were fixed, AOM was actually a fun game. Marketing and release just made sure it stayed in the ground. I highly doubt his video of him raging was fabricated. I doubt he'd be able to fake that. But, if he can fake that rage, then damn, dude should try becoming actor, because that's damn well believable. He points out serious flaws in Volition's marketing, which, well, if they'd want to keep that a secret, they sure as shit wouldn't want him saying that. If it does however turn out to be all fake, somehow, then... Christ, I don't want to think what would even happen. You know... Maybe I'm biased, maybe I'm naive, maybe I'm just scared that the guy I had respect for turns out to be a scumbag. I'm really hoping this is him being genuine, because at the end of the day, he is simply worried for Volition. And so am I.
@@bliczb8772 We can only speculate at this point, tbh, as I said - I doubt, that he fabricated his rage and AOM review was biased. I hope that ain't true, but I can't throw out of window the possibities of those things happening.

The synopsis of this video fits well with anything that has an online fan base. Which shows the main issue is that these companies will try anything to control the narrative around their creations. Even if it means that they are going against their customers just because they can't manipulate them. As I have said before for these types of companies, stop buying their garbage. As they don't actually care about you, your feedback, or criticism. This is actually a great video, and it pretty much sums up what I was thinking about the reboot and the publishers, although with you also mentioning how the SR UA-camrs were basically used to make the game seem awesome when in fact it would've just been another standard third person open world game with none of what made SR what it is, it makes the whole thing even more shady.

*Hey, I've expected history of Johnny Gat's frosted tips from the video called "Saints Row Reboot: Deep Shillver"* *unsub, dislike* But for real - after Metro: Exodus shite from Deep Silver - I've always expected new Saints Row to be somewhat in disgusting situation. Never expected to be this bad, though. But this collective isn't surprising, to be honest - how company as bad as DS can make a better image for themselves without paying someone? Making a good decisions for fans/customers is never the option for them.
One of my all time favourite series is Shenmue, now all memes aside (and yes, the games have aged as well as milk) they are still close to my heart of my gaming childhood. When Shenmue 3 was announced I was excited, the series I had waited for most of my life was finally coming. Then, Deep Silver got involved and I knew this game was going to be a disaster…….and it was. DS we’re not entirely to blame but anything they touch always has this unpleasant smell to it.
I don't think it's entirely DS fault. Yu Suzuki himself wasn't aware of how gaming industry in this day and age works, Shenmue 3 still feels clunky like the past two games. Even if instead of Deep Silver it was, I dunno, Devolver for example - the game would be the same gameplay-wise. Story probably wouldn't ended on cliffhanger, but Suzuki also wanted to create 10 more games or something
@@ChainikVlad this guy's right, Yu Suzuki outright stated in an interview that he doesn't actually play videogames and didn't design Shenmue 3 with any modern inspirations at all. He also took up a job at Sega way back when solely because they had the most vacation time.
Ironically the new THQ seems to be the polar opposite of Deep Silver, despite being owned by the same company. They release quality titles for the most part, they are available in all major digital stores at launch (including GOG), they have no micro-transactions, nor do they nickel and dime you with tons of shitty DLC and the handful of remasters they released (including that of Red Faction Guerilla) are free for people who own the original.
Lol this puts a lot of things in perspective. I was wondering why certain youtubers were saying they didn't know this isn't what they saw or why they kept mentioning the gameplay 🤔
THANK YOU for mentioning the 'layered clothing' thing, haha. Those are the people who want everyone to "...just wait and see how it is". stop 'em right there. YES, it's true that a trailer could be a bad representation of the game, but it's also a tell for what DEMOGRAPHIC they are aiming for. When they release a trailer that some might call 'woke' (and "PC") and not one character in the trailer says anything even remotely edgy (like in all the SR games before) ...then it makes you realize the game will most likely be along those same lines to appeal to that demographic. Sorry. that's just the truth. These marketers (creators of the trailers) would not accidentally send the wrong message, because it's all very calculated
12:45 He's definitely referring to mrsaintsgodzilla21 in this part. I've been subscribed to this guy for years and was even in his live stream when him and some other saints row channels were in his stream and I seen the reactions live. It was a blood bath.
The first thing that pops into my head when I hear the term influencers is Camelworks praising doors casting shadows in Skyrim special edition as if it's such a revolutionary thing.
game publishers are like letting a baby wolf into your house, at first it's cool and you can play fetch but then it grows up and leaves you cowering in your own house while it eats your grandma and wears your slippers while making demands

I mean my whole thing is that for god of war (2018) and horizon zero dawn. I watched people I like review them and overhype them to the point where it was like I already played the games. Then when I actually bought them to play them, I was totally let down because all the overhype
Damn I love these videos! House Hex is one-of-a-kind -- who else is doing the work of exposing this corruption? Protect him at all costs. I also expect a huge astroturfing campaign leading up closer to release. They know they messed up with the reveal, and have a long way to go to recover. Gameplay is now their key crutch, because the characters are lame, and most likely the story is weak, considering that the premise is: that these are college students that decided to try and sample the gang-bangin' lifestyle in order to reduce their student loan debt.
Think Gmanlives is in this program? He shilled hard for a few recent disappointing AA-AAA games. Real sad to see these devs end up like this. Miss the og Red Faction.
Way before all this happened, like 6 months ago at least, I remember seeing a video by somebody who was rallying people to get hyped for a new sr game. My initial thoughts literally were "they disappointed us before and they can disappoint us again." Learning about this "collective" explains a lot though. Maybe I should find that vid again and comment "told ya so."
Gotta be real with everybody in the chat, I was always going to pick up a copy of this. Mostly to laugh at how god-awful the plot is, that "leaked" gameplay almost tricked me into thinking it was going to be good but it's not. The only decent thing about it will be when you're away from the homies and just doing your own thing.
I never knew about this. And talking about being in a contract with Deep Silver collective contract I kinda have a guess about whom you're talking about.
This definitely makes me scared about the future of Gaming even though it's been going on for a long time games that get promoted by big UA-camrs and then when these games fail they pretend that these games never existed and they move on to the next cash grab truly a untrustworthy future of The Gaming Community it's crazy to think I was 13 years old when Saints Row 4 came out and now I'm 20 it seems like when money is involved it pretty much ruins everything 😂😂😭😭😈🤑😈

It reminds me of when some UA-camrs got gifts and free trips abroad to play Cyberpunk 2077 before release and then they'd review the game 10/10 and then massively backpedal a couple days later because of the gigantic backlash. Such a joke unbiased my ass
Bro can you say those idiot UA-camrs name
@@Saifullah-nj9mz Well, for example, YongYea? He was invited by CDPR to play a demo for Cyberpunk, and then claimed it was the best game ever made. Fast forward to launch (that was made after 4 delays... In a single year...), and here we are.
Well in this case problematic were bugs. Developers promised this is not newest build and newest will have fewer bugs. Turned out that they got way more bugs in the final build
If flippy and saints Godzilla really like this game then we truly live in a dark timeline
@@bliczb8772 I gained a lot of respect for godzilla ranting about how he was deceived.
I've been seeing a fair amount of people simping for the reboot with the claims of influencers,
that were invited for the behind closed doors gameplay demo, giving the reboot nothing but praise.
It's unbelievable how gullible and ignorant people still are in 2021,
especially after the Cyberpunk 2077 behind closed doors fake demo,
where the likes of YongYea said it's the bestest game ever.
Holy shit house hex, you just puts Saintsgodzilla situation perfectly, hes even taking a break because of it. Fucking insane man great stuff dude.
I wonder if Flippy is in this club, like he basically had a entire new tone between his Dex video and his reboot one.
@@PrinceVegita1 Godzilla and Flipster mentioned long gameplay for content creators, so I think they both are in this program.
He is compromised.
@@PrinceVegita1 See, here's the thing - when Flippy talked about reboot, he did criticize characters a bit... But it was nothing in comparison with his old days of him constantly shitting on SR3 and 4. Overall, in his video, he was... Weirdly positive about it. Like... There was a shift in behaviour over the 3 year break he took.
@@bliczb8772 maybe its because he doesn’t criticize a game that didn’t come out with gameplay he did the same thing with agents of mayhem. also i feel like most fans are ungrateful asf. the series is a decade old and ppl are judging a game as a whole from just a trailer
@@kai-wr6yk They're judging it off way more than just a trailer man. The behavior of the company itself, the sudden shift in opinion, and now this super secret collective thing. If a game is acting this shady before its even out, then that game most likely isn't going going be that great. Who knows though.
That's why I am not in any of those "communities". I just chill out with me and the boys.

Now steam people know how fans of drm free feel when only steam gets a game and no drm free version.
There is a reason I haven't preordered any game for about 10 years now.
Just discovered you recently and you're now one of my favourite youtube channels. Great quality, great personality, intelligent points and overall entertaining!
Why call it saints row. The Row was the hood of stilwater, and the origin of its members. Call this shit saints college, cuz that’s what these characters are ripped straight out of.
In my city we have a gang called sycamore or "the Ave" because they're based in sycamore Ave.
Most of sycamores members now a days don't live on or near sycamore Ave. Should they not be recognized as sycamore or Ave members if they live on Worthington St?
@@crasyman101 doesn't that make them subsets of Sycamore then?
Then again we're comparing how gang sets work to a game that is made by people who don't even understand what drives one to crime in the first place besides what the Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles have "taught" them or someshit.
@@alalvarez7301 if they still acknowledge themselves as sycamore, and still keep that as a big part of their identity then no they're still sycamore. Usually a subsets created when part of the identity is changed which also leads to them changing the name in some way.
@@crasyman101 Ah I see. I was under this impression that subsets was like "Yeah they rep the flags but they're from a different neighborhood." Thanks for the correction.
Good video, man. Although, in the LieGN part you should have complained how hard the game is.
@Based Fuhrer *is given money* 10/10, like Skyrim, but with water!
@Based Fuhrer I was referencing a video. I don't even play much Elder Scrolls.
They just want to convince you to give your money to them no matter what they produce and they have made it obvious for years through their behavior.
Come Hexagon... Join the collective... We have free punch. Our leader is having a huge party around a table.
If only it were so...I'd provide the D-Con.
Even mrsaintsgodzilla mad af
This is actually a great video, and it pretty much sums up what I was thinking about the reboot and the publishers, although with you also mentioning how the SR UA-camrs were basically used to make the game seem awesome when in fact it would've just been another standard third person open world game with none of what made SR what it is, it makes the whole thing even more shady.
14:25 i remember getting politically insulted by that group and that same mod you adressed genuinely they went after my social medias and twitch account raiding me i wish the worst for the people in that group, im giving you a sub for this
Mrsaintsgodzilla21 was a victim of this. I saw his stream when the CGI trailer was shown and almost all his fans called him sold out and lost 1000 subs in 1 hour.
This is the same situation with dmc devil may cry. Journalists and ninja theory kept pushing the narrative that fans are complaining about the lack of white hair, but when in fact most people were asking why the gameplay is being dumbed down, but nope fans are hating the game because "no white hair". There was a UA-camr named event status who covered the whole debacle to the fullest.
For anyone wondering, the UA-camr that he calls out towards the end of the video is mrsaintsgodzilla21, one of the most popular _Saints Row_ UA-camrs.
This guy is quickly becoming my favorite UA-camr
EA has the Game Changer program and its about the same. Same for the idiots that ruin CoD every year.
One of my favourite walking dead characters right here
The recent CoDs have been really good tho.
You know what sucks more than not been forced bias by a company?
The same but with a political party or authoritarian government.
I've said this in a previous video, but I really like your style of commentary in regards to the slimy video game scene. Subscribed during the last video and this is already a channel I'm stopping everything I'm doing just to watch. Keep up the good work
*Hey, I've expected history of Johnny Gat's frosted tips from the video called "Saints Row Reboot: Deep Shillver"*
*unsub, dislike*
But for real - after Metro: Exodus shite from Deep Silver - I've always expected new Saints Row to be somewhat in disgusting situation. Never expected to be this bad, though. But this collective isn't surprising, to be honest - how company as bad as DS can make a better image for themselves without paying someone? Making a good decisions for fans/customers is never the option for them.
Wait, what happened with Metro Exodus?
@@ohnoitschris Epic Games Store deal, which resulted in removing the game from Steam store.
I believe it was also like two weeks before game's launch.
Goddamn power-tripping Discord mods, the lowliest form of attack hounds.
Shenmue 4 is gonna be mainstream, for sure. It's too niche to make a profit. Probably pushed by Deep Silver.
@@ChainikVlad this guy's right, Yu Suzuki outright stated in an interview that he doesn't actually play videogames and didn't design Shenmue 3 with any modern inspirations at all. He also took up a job at Sega way back when solely because they had the most vacation time.
also: play Yakuza, it's the best game series running nowadays
Since the Mighty No. 9 fiasco I knew Deep Silver was absolute crap and a terrible publisher and they have not disappointed in that regard.
Anyone else feel really bad for saintsgodzilla? He was practically bringing back the saints row community himself and they did him hella dirty
I really like your channel. I always get that internet historian vibe watching your videos.
I wonder how long this was intended to be an epic games exclusive. The graphical style is starting to make sense to me now
Cartoony doesn't mean Fortnite, Metro Exodus was epic exclusive, does it look like Fortnite? Lmao
the graphic style doesn't have to do with epic, several games are using that style.
So glad I found this gem of a channel keep up the hustle man.

YES, it's true that a trailer could be a bad representation of the game, but
it's also a tell for what DEMOGRAPHIC they are aiming for.
When they release a trailer that some might call 'woke' (and "PC") and not one character in the trailer says anything even remotely edgy (like in all the SR games before)
...then it makes you realize the game will most likely be along those same lines to appeal to that demographic. Sorry. that's just the truth. These marketers (creators of the trailers) would not accidentally send the wrong message, because it's all very calculated
“Whats wrong with you people”
They like simple stuff simple stuff
The layered clothing bit had me 😂

Come here for frosted tips history sir.
The worst thing is influencers being put into games. We don't need real world crossovers. Why are video games trying to be movies all of a sudden?
Cameos of real people have been a thing since the 90s. Having influencers in a game isn't really an issue at all.
12:45 He's definitely referring to mrsaintsgodzilla21 in this part. I've been subscribed to this guy for years and was even in his live stream when him and some other saints row channels were in his stream and I seen the reactions live. It was a blood bath.

a history on gats frosted tips is probably goin to be way much better than the history of this watch dogs 2 clone labeled as saints row
Trust me the Saints Row UA-camrs they’re not going to learn you’re speaking too much truth And that scares people nowadays because it’s not what they want to hear
ggmanlives was part of ea game changers he said anthem was a mess and it was not the game he played when he was invited from ea to play a preview build....and he was thrown out of the ea game changers partners program.
I mean my whole thing is that for god of war (2018) and horizon zero dawn. I watched people I like review them and overhype them to the point where it was like I already played the games.

That’s why I’m laughing my ass off that Death Loop is getting 10s from those sites.
Glad to see people are finally using the term Deep Shillver. I started using it after the Metro Exodus and Shenmue 3 EGS fiascos.

Idk history of Johnny Gats tips does sound pretty entertaining after your about 3 shots or 3 bowls in
Think Gmanlives is in this program? He shilled hard for a few recent disappointing AA-AAA games.
Real sad to see these devs end up like this. Miss the og Red Faction.
Way before all this happened, like 6 months ago at least, I remember seeing a video by somebody who was rallying people to get hyped for a new sr game.

Learning about this "collective" explains a lot though. Maybe I should find that vid again and comment "told ya so."
Gotta be real with everybody in the chat, I was always going to pick up a copy of this.
