Oh my gosh. There was an all metal eyeliner pencil sharpener that I used to buy back in the day. Never broke, never went dull, was very small for travel size. Hands down the best sharpner ever made.
@@lirisadybug I have a very similar one but its not specifically an eyeliner sharpener its for drawing pencils you can get them in craft stores or the art section in like walmart type stores they’re super cheap and work amazing ive had the dame one for 12 years and it still works like the day i got it
Omg i swear my mother had the same one it was the best! I think her’s may have been a L’Oreal one?
@@lirisadybugI had one too i think it wasL’Oreal?
Oh my gosh I had the same one, now I have a new one the same size but with a plastic red weirdly shaped cover. Works the same and I have always stuck to it.
I still have mine like that
FYI put your lip liner in freezer before shaping. Works great
Why?
@@Ash-nk8lkotherwise the makeup part of it is too soft to hold it's shape when you sharpen it, also makes more of a mess not to freeze it
@@Ash-nk8lk because it get a better point .
Ill try this. Ive literally never owned a sharpener that did anything other than tear up the wood and continually break off the tip.
T H A N K Y O U! I needed this hack, it helps keep the liner from mushing and breaking
They definitely aren't the same. For some reason the blades they use are better with creamier products. These actually work the best on professional colored pencils.
Or you can do what the other portion of artists do (this is a callout post for myself lol) and just get the ol’ utility knife/box cutter
i use regular pencil sharpeners for my lip liners and it works the same way a cosmetic one does
@@howdytherestranger2139 hahaha I definitely used to do that all the time, but I hated how it ruined my pencils
@@varians.podcast i mean yeah it technically works but for me it ruins all my lipliners
Here’s a tip. Unscrew the bottom of your liner. Not all have them, but some have sharpeners built in the back😊
yess i figured this out literally yesterday and it changed my whole perspective on life
My Mac, nyx, and Kylie lip liners did not have sharpeners so it’s not as common sadly
Thank you for the helpful tip ☺️
There normally is one in the beauty isle with a large and small hole option! Typically next to makeup brushes or the tweezer / nail clipper area (at least it’s that way at Walgreens) 😊
Oop you can tell I paused the video to comment this lmao
Oh my God take the colored bottom off its a sharpener
Those are the worst sharpeners idk if they work for anyone but they never did work for me and I’ve been gifted a ton over the years 😭
🤨😏
LMAOOOO
wait THERES SEPARATE SHARPENERs FOR MAKEUP?
I just use a normal pencil one but set it aside separately for makeup usage
Every time I use a normal sharpener I end up with a stub of an eyeliner before it stops snapping 😅 idk why but a normal one makes the eyeliner snap and go all raggedy and awkward and by the time I get any decent nib on the liner it's like a tiny little stubby thing and I've used new sharpeners, old sharpeners, expensive eyeliners, cheap eyeliners it makes no difference lol but using a "makeup" sharpener, no issues at all!
i have an eyebrow pencil and it's just too thin for the regular sharpener so i can't use it,i just bought a cheap one for make up
@@maddydavidsdottir9862 a regular sharpener is probably too brittle for a soft makeup pencil. It might work better if you bought an art pencil sharpener but ultimately a makeup pencil sharpener is the best
But I got lip liner sharpener with the lip liner 😊
Yes...
The amount of times I wanted to say:
"Thats what she said"😔
That's way too reliable!!😢😢
The L’Oréal sharpener is so good!!
"All I'd have to do is [stick the thing] in the hole." Spoken like a true keeper.
Makeup pencils are really soft, so the main thing is to get a sharpener designed for it. Art pencil sharpeners would probably also work and you might have an easier time finding an automated one of those.
don't forget the "do they fit in there?"
the comment i was looking for lol
I just use a regular pencil sharpener i got for like 99¢ at target and it works great 😂
but we have to acknowledge that they aren't the same. I got one from essence for $3 and it has lasted forever.
American Jihyo
The one from Sally is the best. It’s in a random bin. Enclosed. Never loses sharpness 🥰
Idk if other products are like this but my eyeliner pencil doesn’t twist or anything but the other end comes off and you have to push a thin object like a paint brush or something to get more product.
I hate it so much
Wait u have to push?? I thought we have to sharpen it😅 and it’s the nyx professional makeup eyeliner
I have also found out they have a retractable version I’m devastated🥲
"stick the pencil in the hole" "do we think it fits in there?" they just broke me.....
You’re hilarious and honestly I’m subscribing solely for that reason. You are literally me talking to myself(in my head of course) 😅 so funny 🙌🏽👏🏽
TEN DOLLARS 💀
Fr💀💀💀 you can literally get sharpeners for a dollar at dollar tree😭😭
Normally, you can always find a make up pencil sharpener by the brushes, eyelash curlers, nail clipper area. Before I saw the end, I was going to say check elf
Yes. The angle is different. The exposed tip is much shorter with a makeup sharpener, and your pencil lasts much longer.
You are chaotic and I love it😂❤
I was on every second of this journey with her….every second!! lol!
This is googles explanation on why you should buy specifically a makeup sharpener instead of a regular sharpener:
Do not use a regular pencil sharpener to sharpen your makeup. A sharpener for writing utensils will break soft kohl or gel eyeliner pencils. A cosmetic pencil sharpener, on the other hand, is built specifically to sharpen makeup and keep the tip intact
I can attest to this.
I use regular sharpeners. Still works on regular eye liners.
This energy is how my brain works, like I don’t know everything, but I’ll be like dang, you learn something new everyday, and I sometimes overthink what I thought I should’ve known, and I’m thinking wow, I didn’t know that, but I didn’t have any reference, so there’s no way I would’ve ever known, besides watching someone else do it 😵💫
I LOOOVE OFFICE STYLE SHARPENERS because they just the makeup pencils to look so sharp and cleannnn
Babe, the internet lied. You can most definitely use a regular pencil sharpener too. They are exactly the same you just need to use one specifically for lip liners/ eyeliner and don’t sharpen regular pencils with the same one. To be fair I got the same elf one like 8 years ago and it’s still going strong for $1 so it was a win lol
not exacly the same but yeah could work.
@@CGI_Andywhat is the diffrence
@@Tommoway1 it is made to be used for makeup. lets use eyeliner for example. your regular pencil sharpener is made to sharpen pencils right? your eyeliner will break cause it is very soft. a cosmetic pencil sharpener is built specifically to sharpen makeup and keep the tip intact.
@@CGI_Andy i mean, both of them have steel blade, they're made out of plastic, the hole is almost the same, so i kinda feel like it is just said that they are different
Like a marketing trick i guess
I just use a knife like I do for my art pencils lol
Uhm cool ..!🦋
Bro I use my mom's old Dior lip/eye liner sharpener , i guess they used to sell them at the cosmetics stores years ago bc it even has a little dip at the end where u can make the tip of the lined pointy and thin . It's really cool they should bring it back
They should have pencil sharpeners together in the same pack with the lip pencils lol
this video was so chaotic lol instant follow love it hahaa
Your energy is hilarious, you crack me up😂Love this
I have the same makeup sharpener that I “borrowed” from my mom when I was a kid. It’s still going 20 years later!
Pencil sharpener totally work, honestly. Some times you gotta make do with what you've got!❤
I sharpen my lipliners and eyepencils with the automatic pencil sharpener and it's the best
This was a whole ramble and I’m loving it😂❤
They used to make the cap of every pencil-adjacent beauty supply (lip-liner, eye-liner, etc)a sharpener and I miss those times (not that I experienced it, my older sisters had them)
Omg u give jihyo from twice vibe ~ i luv youu
Her eyes are like doll eyes. Perfectly glossy 😂
Essence has my all time FAVOURITE sharpener. It’s like $2 and it’s pink and tiny
They always have sharpeners in beauty isles, brands make them too. And they are different, because they are made to sharpen softer products
They're definitely usually at CVS in the makeup section but so small and tucked in with other shit lol
I do love a good 2 in 1😂😂😂
I like the revlon one that has 3 sizes. That ones good especially for chunky pencils for eyeshadow and highlighter and stuff.
They're with all of the basic makeup/ grooming supplies (nail clippers, eye lash curlers, tweezers, etc ) usually super close to the front entrance (at CVS) on the makeup wall - maybe the 1st to 3rd panel of stuff... I don't even wear makeup & I know that much 😂
I got an eye liner pencil that has a lid on the back of it that comes off with a sharpener, hands down best thing i have ever purchased
ALWAYS use separate sharpeners for pencils, eye/lipliners, and colored pencils! The wax from colored pencils isn't recommended to be used for cosmetics, so you don't want to mix the waxes between eyeliner and colored pencils. You don't want to use colored pencils sharpener or eyeliner sharpener for pencils, because the blade will be too waxy and slippery to really sharpen it properly.
a lot of eyeliners and lipliners actually have sharpners built in on the bottom if yall didnt know. Not all of course, but a lot do have them!
Well ig an in-built sharpener with the lip liner is the one you should go for
(The cap of the lipliner is the sharpener)
Hi some lip liners have pencil sharpeners on the bottom of them you can twist the bottom and pull but not all of them do!
Omg my head is spinning after this
Some lip liners that I’ve seen have a built in sharpener on the cap. It’s really convenient
Steadlar makes a metal hand sharpener sharp as they come pretty much the same and their 100% metal. Their cheap and amazing!
They should come with one
So it depends on how soft / malleable the product is but, if it’s a fairly solid, pigmented pencil liner those average pencil sharpeners may work better. The ones you find made specifically for makeup are helpful to gently shape your products without breaking or wasting them, but they’re often also more breakable sharpeners bc of that. It’s usually not worth the up pricing 🤷♀️
😊 sometimes in the back of the lip liner you can twist the little pink thing and there is a lip liner
They are usually with the beauty tools like nail files and eyelash curlers
“Do we think it fits in there”,That is what she said 😂😂
I love a good 2 in 1
There’s usually a sharpener build into the lip liner.. at least in mine
I love your energy❤you kinda remind me of beomham
I was thinking that elf definitely have a sharpener and it was so satisfying when you found the exact one I was picturing 🤣
Ok I can’t be the only one that sharpens my lip liner with a normal pencil sharpener
This exact thing happened to me too. I thought "why was this sample so long if I can only use the tip of it? There's bound to be more in there" but I thought it was plastic and couldn't be sharpened like that. I ended up buying a new full size one that I later learned I didn't need because the lady at sephora educated me when I asked her why it doesn't "twist up"
If you ever had that metal sharpener that has two openings, you can use the wider one for lip liners and eyeliners. Just chill it in the freezer beforehand, so it hardens a bit.
Nobody told you,,,because noone could get a word in!!😂❤❤❤❤❤ fyi,,letting your liner chill for awhile will definitely help get a nice sharp tip!
Sometimes a liner comes with it on the opposite side the tip is. If it has a cap it can sometimes be covering it :)
Me taking the “all we gotta do is put the pencil in the whole” entirely wrong👍🏼🤪
Ur personality is perfect. Your very funny.
I still use the top of my mom's old clinique eyeliner from like 2006
I needed a sharpener for my eyeliner lately and it took 8 different stores and 35 miles (I'm in the uk) to find one 😅 it was a nightmare! I remember 10 years ago they were in every single store that sold makeup but now it's like gold dust!
She seems like shed ge a great friend
It is actually on the back of the pen where it shows the color just pull on it then you can sharpen your lip liner
😂😂😂😂😂 Homegirl funny asf
FYI they’re usually with the nail clippers but a pencil sharpener is bomb too
CVS has them in the revlon and elf sections for eyeliner lipliner
When I was younger and I couldn’t find a pencil sharpener, I’d go into my moms room, take her eyeliner sharpener and used it on my pencils and colored pencils. worked just as good.
Lead in the waterlines 😂😭
You look so much like jihyo from twice
The little color thing on the bottom like the thing that shows the color well if you take it of it is a sharpener
The best Makeup sharpener I’ve ever found is one by NARS it also as a pick to take out gunk that gets stuck from liners
If you get the bic silver sharpener like that tiny cheap one , it fits perfectly trust me
CVS has makeup sharpeners, they're usually at the very bottom toward the floor, there's usually a CVS brand one at the bottom of the Loreal wall I think
Wait maybe it was maybelline actually bc they were next to each other when I last went lol but either way the planograms for the makeup are usually the same so peep the bottom row
I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT FOR SO LONG AND I GOT IT: YOU REMIND ME OF EMMY ROSSUM FROM SHAMELESS.
Also the make up ones usually have a tiny hidden stick to clean the gunk off the blade
Depending on the store, I usually find them either with the brow pencils or the makeup brushes.
On your lip liner or eyeliner if you can adjust the height of it then the end without product comes off and it’s a built in sharpener . If you wash it you can use it on all you products that don’t have a sharpener built in
when I got a cosmetic sharpener, my makeup game CHANGED. They are sooo different
Definitely okay, I used to use a little pink one I got years ago in elementary school, she died🥹but she held me down a long time
At the end of the pencil, the color shade is a pull out sharpener and you can sharpen it so you don’t ruin it
“The pencil in the the hole” lol 😆
This!!!! I've been struggling with this issue for SO LONG. They really don't have sharpeners in the makeup section, unless it's with a thing of eyeliner or a doesn't lip liner
Wet n wild sells sharpeners. I think elf does as well
Some lipliners have a built in sharpener in the end!😮
Boombastic side-eye 💀🤨 imagine playing the pencil in there, will even fit
There was so many "that's what she/he said" moments in this video
Darlin, they're where the brushes, sponges and eye lash glue is. They're always with those supplies! Trust me, I've wandered like that too and bought a dollar tree one until I figured my above advice out ahahahah! I'm a leran the hard way gal!!
I usually used the metal artist ones lmao
That's what she said 😂
This reminds me that I used to sharpen my crayons with pencil sharpeners
I wasn’t the brightest bulb as a kid, and cemented these bad boys into my memory forever when I stuck my finger in one and tried to sharpen 😅
For some lip liners on the little colored part on the back you can pull it out and it’s a sharpener
The main difference is the angle of the blade. You CAN sharpen your makeup pens with a regular sharpener but because the tip is so soft, you'll most likely just have it fall off in the regular sharpener. You need that wider angle.
