HEY MAN !! i have been following your videos since i watched the i phone tut, i am buidling my portfolio and your videos have helped me a lot can you please let me know any tips to make the portfolio strong - your susbscriber
Hey, thanks so much for the feedback, it means a lot. I should do a portfolio advice video and use the following as a script! If you are making a portfolio for employment I assume you are using Wix or something: •keep your site simple with a portfolio page and an about/contact page. You can optionally add a 'WIP' (work in progress) page in between where you show screenshots /gifs of how you made it (e.g. unrendered wireframes - to show off good edge flow etc) •On your portfolio page have about 12 images if you are a beginner. Put your absolute favorite work at the top (possibly larger than others), and your second favorite work at the bottom and only good work inbetween. Put non-favorite work on the WIP page. •If you have any animations then consider a 45 second showreel •Upload models to sketchfab.com as FBX files (file>export>fbx) and embed them on your portfolio page. •On the about page, have your contact details near the top, then list (with logos) any companies you have created digital work for so far followed by a short paragraph about yourself. •If you are confident enough -then share work on artstation too. Look for job listings there as well. If you are looking for freelance work, then in addition to your website you should start making listings on fiverr for different kinds of 3d models you can make - e.g. - 3D logo animations, or product visualisations. Soon you will get repeat customers and referrals and can move away from paying fiverr as the middleman. When you get too busy - put your prices right up. If someone asks you to do something you don't know how, say yes and then learn it! Top channels (other than me haha) to learn Maya: •arnold renderer (official arnold channel) •JL Mussi (short super handy maya tips and advice) •Mike Hermes (short beginner to intermediate vids) •Maya learning channel (intermediate vids) •Elementza (advanced but inspiring mecha) •flipped normals (sculpting, uv mapping, and general 3d industry advice) •The Futur (how to do business and build a brand) •inspirationTuts (advice on selling 3d models) Subscribe to these and spend at least 1 hour per day learning something new! Best of luck.

love the bridge number thing, idk if blender has that XD
it pains me how this is the only way of achieving nice geo on text.
Yep. Maya is pain. You can always try mesh>retopologize and if that does not work: Mesh>remesh, then Mesh>retopologize
