How can you say that what have children got now days games consoles there is not a lot of children that want to go out now days but stay in doors because they have to complete something on thier games console
Number One said that Richard Thomas was the only one not recast for the television series. However, none of the kids were recast, and only Richard Thomas was replaced during the series.
Correct. I don't know why they said Richard Thomas was the lone survivor. All 7 of the kids stayed the same and grandma was the same. I think they should have done some fact checking before making this video.
The only recast was Patricia Neal replaced by Michael Learned, Andrew Duggan by Ralph Waite. Will Geer was the original choice for Grandpa, but was unavailable for the Homecoming.
Life was difficult and challenging for this family and many across the nation. Difference between then and now... families taught humility, respect, loyalty, hard work, honesty, value of life and understanding. This is a generation that while it had it's issues it worked together to overcome ... God bless those who held and hold those strengths and the faith that wove it together into a beautiful quilt of life ...
Well I think she means outside the Walton's the Baldwin sisters and ike were different am not sure if that's how you spell ike doesn't really matter you know who am talking about plus the sheriff was different in the homecoming.
The Waltons was a wholesome show that portrayed honesty and family values. While the episodes took place 80-90 years ago, the message is timeless. Sure, anyone can find some factual errors, but what program does not have a few? Many people today could sure learn a lot from The Walton Family.

I love the show...When I was given the opportunity by my employer to attend a course overseas(I am from Malaysia) in 1992,I chose Darden Business School ,University of Virginia,Charlottesville ...Charlottesville...the town that was sometimes mentioned in The Waltons...When the plane I was in was about to touch down at Charlottesvllile Airport,I could see the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains...the memories of The Waltons came back....
I have always enjoyed watching The Waltons growing up and I have grown to really love watching reruns in the mid 80's when I was in High School. My parents were divorced and my Daddy moved to Waynesboro Virginia when he got transfered to the Dupont Plant there. What made me excited is that alot of places mentioned, I have been. Charlottesville, Stanton (that's where the Statler Brothers are from and would put on a big carnival and free concert every 4th of July) Richmond. I never went by the Hamner home back then, I never asked about going but Daddy said Mrs Hamner would come out alot of times if people were in front looking at their house and at times bring out cookies and something to drink
I love the show. It is and always will be one of the best shows ever made. I watch it everyday.. Although it does Make me feel a bit envious... As I always wished / wanted a big loving family..Such as the Waltons....
Ah this brings back memories. Nostalgia had me searching Amazon. I was delighted to find all seasons available on Prime for streaming. I am a few years younger than the youngest star, Kami Cotler, who played Elizabeth Walton. Naturally, she was my favorite character. So much so that if I ever had a daughter, I would have named her after Elizabeth Walton.
Great show. I grew up watching this show, as my life and upbringing was so similar. I grew up in rural Missouri in a big old farm house on Dogwood Hill (Not Waltons Mountain), with lots of brothers and cousins. It just seemed like my life on TV.

Every Thursday night at 8:00 pm, my mom, dad and I would watch. And I would ask questions and my parents would answer. My parents were of the Greatest generation and lived though that time. I was learning about the Great Depression and the show The Waltons was set in the Great Depression so I enjoyed watching the show and asking my parents questions about that time. It was a good time. I still watch the show when I get the chance and remember back, nice memories.
The House for the Walton specials was at Warner Brothers Ranch in Burbank. It was finally dismantled either in 2017 or 2016 and put in storage. The location was needed for use in another production.

Fun fact. He mentions Beula Bondi in number 10. She played the aunt who lost her home on the mountain because of a highway coming through. She also played Ma Baily (George's mother) in It's a Wonderful Life.
Maple Leaf I loved Beulah Bondi! She was Martha Corrine Walton, widow of Grandpa’s brother Henry. I only recently read about her being Ma Bailey...looking forward to watching it this year so I can see her ❤️
Back in the day before life happened in our family the Waltons came on in the evenings. When it came on in our home we had the pop corn and Kool-aid ready. It was family time. Loved those days. Miss those days
When I was 10 years old back in 1976, I flew to LA from Denver to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Altadena. Well, I flew out there on a Continental Airlines DC-10 in first class, and wouldn't you know grandpa Walton was sitting right across from me. The whole flight I kept looking over and wanting to say hello but didn't. The last time I saw him was in the terminal carrying a guitar case heading to an escalator.
I grew up with the Walton’s being on a television every week. I went to camp when I was twelve and one night in our bunk house in the dark someone said “Good night, Daddy”, which of course started a long series of good nights, not to the Walton kids, but to all of us in the cabin. Finally, our camp councilor told us that we had said enough good nights and told us to go to sleep. The Walton’s was a big part of my growing up as a young boy along with Little House on the Prairie, and so many other great tv shows. I miss those lovely days of television long ago when it was still fresh and new and the ideas where original. I have cable now but I rarely ever turn on the television anymore. It’s just not worth it.
I find something very centering about watching one of those episodes now. I was the same age as Jim Bob when the show originally aired. No naturally it takes me back to a carefree time in my life.
I always watched the Waltons growing up but I appreciate it now as an adult. It's not a sugar coated way of life. Bad things happened, and I was a little surprised when Daddy was upset with Ben.. And I was impressed with Jason's musically.
The best thing to watch on thanksgiving or chirstmas weve ever watched each yr was all day the waltons like music for our family happy back ground movies to watch the hoildays movies
I have watched the walton,s since it was on TV I have been watching it since. I have all the records still today in the original jackets and in pristine condition. I love it.

The Waltons, as depicted in the series, were not all that poor, even though we were supposed to think they were. They apparently owned their farm. It was of considerable size, and had significant development: barns, shops, a good house. They had ELECTRICITY, unusual for rural America in the 1930s. The electricity allowed them to have running water and indoor plumbing (the electricity was needed to pump the water). All in all, they were doing well for the depression era 1930s. I notice these details because my own father was raised in rural America in the 1930s. His dad, my grandfather, did not own a farm. Their rented house had neither running water or electricity. Oh, by the way, no running water means that the toilet is out back in a little shack. Do you know what a 'outhouse' is? I know...The Waltons is a fictional broadcast television show. It is meant to portray family values. It is a charming, well made show.
I watched this show, every ep, when new. I was age 11 when it premiered, and was 19 or 20 when it was canceled, depending on the month. I never heard of those toys of the show. I watched Spencers Mountain movie when new, and read the book as a teen.
Watched every ep new, loved it. I was 11 when it began, and was 21 or 22 when it ended. I read the book Spencer's Mountain, and watched the movie when new. I also watched the reunion movies of the show after the show ended.Mary Ellen and Ralph Waite were my faves. Waite was cute, and I watched his show when he was a lawyer on a paddlewheel boat, in modern times. It was good, and should have been on 5 seasons at least.
I loved this series. I watched it since I was 11. I read recently that Grandma Walton (Elen Corby) was 60 years in 1971. The age i have now. That´s creepy. Well, i would se all seasons again if avaible.

One of the Best TV Shows I Ever Saw
This show was far before my time but it is my favorite show of all time
Now this is what Family is all about!
The Waltons was one of the best shows on tv. Today we take everything for granted.
Can you imagine the opening of the Waltons if John brought home an iPhone 13 instead of a vacuum tube radio?
I would hardly say they replaced "nearly everyone" since John, olivia and grandpa were the only ones replaced from the homecoming to the waltons.
I knew about Ralph Waite, Mary McDonough, the Walton house being used for Gilmore girls and it not being the original house.
Well I think she means outside the Walton's the Baldwin sisters and ike were different am not sure if that's how you spell ike doesn't really matter you know who am talking about plus the sheriff was different in the homecoming.
