  • Today's adventure takes place in the beautiful town of Sycamore, Illinois where I meet up with Everett from the UA-cam channel Cemetery Oddities so he can give me a tour of this beautiful cemetery. Those that know Cemetery Oddities know that Everrett will do the character of gangster Bugs Moran in some of his videos. Today, I get to meet Everett and Bugs Moran for this wonderful cemetery tour. Please join us as we explore Elmwood Cemetery.

I am in this cemetery at least once a week! In fact, I ate my lunch and smoked a cigar there yesterday (Sept 21). So cool that you came out this way to do this great video. I am a member of the local Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and we conduct the annual cemetery walk here for the DeKalb County History Center every October. You should come out again on October 6th at 1:00 PM. I am presenting Capt. James Madison Hood and Capt. John H. Luther for this year's walk. By the way, Benjamin Page Sr. is not actually buried here, he is in Ohio. His son, Benjamin Jr., is buried here and the family decided to erect a cenotaph commemorating the senior Page. The structure in the middle of the cemetery is called a "Mourning House". Overall, it's a fascinating cemetery where over 130 civil war veterans are buried, including 3 Brevet Brigadier Generals (in addition to Daniel Dustin, whom you covered, Everell Dutton and Frederick Partridge rest here). If you have any questions about this place, I probably know the answer or know someone who does.

i would hear stories from the carvers of these cemeteries i have spoken too over the years they could retire on the cost of those massive granite headstones in today's world

The grave of Esther Nesbitt and the 2 others next to her all have the same death year, 1971.
