Personally I don’t care about timelines in a land because it’s just a land.
But the rest of your critiques about the restaurants are valid.
Galaxy's Edge probably would have been better if Disney hadn't worried about putting it somewhere in continuity and had been willing to freely mix elements from the Star Wars universe from the beginning. They eventually decided to do that with Star Tours and it's fine.
@@MattMcIrvin agree
Like, Universal made freaking Minions Villain Con, a ride that clearly doesn’t know what timelines are (And they brought back a guy who literally dies in the first Minions movie like it didn’t happen, despite having his death clip in there too)
So yeah, I don’t care if timeline bs
At least they HAVE something from Shrek unlike USA
The amount of potential this land had was absolutely insane, like cmon universal you could have done better
Shrek there needs to be replaced with a mirrored Hogsmeade and retheme the indoor Ferris wheel to Professor McGonagall.
@@KylertheDisneyandUniversalFandon’t think the place is anywhere near big enough for that. Also would close a significant portion of the park and lower the number of rides quite a lot. Not worth it
Get rid of shrek 4D for forbidden journey.
Better than another stupid Harry Potter Land
Actually, the Singapore park is owned by another company that licenses Universal properties, so they are not entirely to blame for this
Bro I love when you do your quiet yells. Can just tell you’re trying not to wake up family or your roommates. Gets me everytime
The Puss coaster should go down for an immense reworking to make it based off Last Wish. A dark ride coaster hybrid, somewhat similar to Arthur the Ride at Europa Park would work very well.
And given that Shrek 4D is gone at pretty much all the other parks, Singapore’s should go the same way, especially considering how much space and potential the castle building it’s in holds for a ride
Arthur is at Europa Park, Efteling does have a cool, fully indoor, suspended dark ride tho
1:11 I made a Shrek land in Planet Coaster, and I added the windmill. 😂😂😂
Respect
The existence of Friars Good Food really feels like a joke they would make in a shrek movie
Friars Fatboy from Shrek 2. Medieval Meal comes with a crown and full-size axe
@@liamcarmody4217 i mean the fact that it replaced the real Friars Fatboy
Would have been cool if we got a shrek land at Epic Universe instead of how to train your dragon
Seriously
Exactly like who like that over shrek?!?
this 1000x can’t even remember the last time i’ve seen something about httyd, I see shrek almost monthly
I love how many uploads we’ve gotten in the past month or so, Attraction Ideas fans been FEASTING
Yesssiiiiir
right!!! that was the first thing i said getting this vid it’s so wonderful seeing all of them!!
Honestly, just having a Shrek themed land is a great thing. The attractions should reflect the theme of the IP not the land itself. I mean what attractions can really be fitted into Far Far away ?
Being from Vegas (a town that was once run by criminals) I could totally imagine a corrupt Hook running a nightclub in far faraway 😂😂
no joke, I was Gingy for Shrek stage shows in Jacksonville for almost 6 years, know how to do the voice and everything; for whatever reason, Shrek, Fiona and Donkey haven't been out whenever I go to the Orlando park, but I can't wait to meet them just to be able to make the joke that I ate Gingy and then do the voice on the spot and see the reactions
Lol probably waving the arms and staring at you with the same expression they always have because its a mask and they cant talk so.
@@oosthakker Fiona and Donkey can both talk and react; I've seen multiple videos of people doing voice impressions to them, including Brian Hull here on UA-cam
@@michaeladams1772 ow ok cool i did not know that
The biggest complaint with Galaxy’s Edge was that they were too strict about the timeline, so we were deprived of seeing characters and concepts from all the films.
So interesting to critique this land for just putting in things from across the films for people to see and experience. I think the general public, and even fans of the franchise, would want that over some sort of strict “moment in time” kind of land
I always wanted to eat shrek in waffle form
Then this is the theme park land for you!
I actually think that a proper far far away would work in epic universe... think about it u can travel far away from the swamp in USF and end up in FARFARAWAY AT EPIC.
and build the highschool in islands lol
Re: the distance between Shrek’s Swamp and Far Far Away. Bowsers’s castle is also somehow situated a stone’s throw away from Peach’s castle in Super Nintendo Land. Apparently Mario didn’t need to traverse 8 lands when he could walk for like 3 minutes.
Re: distances between Bowser's and Peach's castles;
Their castles have actually been depicted as rather close to each other in a couple of games.
The most dramatic example can be seen in _Paper Mario_ - in which Bowser's castle was constructed directly underneath Peach's castle (allowing Bowser to effectively steal Peach's entire castle by taking it into the sky).
Another example of this is in _Super Mario RPG_ - in which Bowser's Keep is located rather close to the Mushroom Kingdom, home of the Mushroom Castle (Peach's Castle).
#NOTMYFRIAR
Tbh you can say this about Universal Studios Singapore in general. Glad they’re adding minions and Nintendo to breathe new life into it
On a different note….. shrek super party is a underrated game! It’s so good !
You're definitely overthinking it. You sound like that fan in the _Simpsons_ episode The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show:
"Hi, question for Ms. Bellamy. In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes that same rib twice in succession yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we, to believe that this is some sort of a, a magic xylophone or something? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder."
There, there. I'm sure somebody got fired over Shrek Land.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for him to cover this oddity of a land, especially after he referenced it multiple times before.
You know if there's any benefits to be gained from this first attempt it's that if Universal ever attempts to do another Shrek themed land in the future in any of their other parks like maybe Britan for example they can just look at the one they have now and learn what not to do this time especially since they've come a long way since that time.
I can never get it straight in my head that this land with a castle has Shrek 4D while the indoor mini land for Shrek in Motiongate Dubai has an entire dark ride with animatronics & show scenes.
I only found out there was a real life far far away during this video, only to have my dreams crushed by you explaining everything wrong with it😔
i love how passionately you critique things lmaoooo
They better play Funkytown on a loop there
this is cool and all but where still waiting for one fish two fish video🔥🔥🔥🔥
I always thought toon lagoon should have been rethemed to a DreamWorks land. Turn Popeyes into a Madagascar ride and Dudley’s into a log flume through shreks swamp and build a new E ticket where the unused stunt theater is.
They honestly could build an entire park dedicated to shrek, or at least something a lot bigger than a “land.”
I have an upcoming trip to Universal orlando, but I can't deny I'm disappointed I won't get to see the new land 😢
Shrek getting such a dominant location at Universal Studios with Shrek 4D so early in the franchise really screwed itself from getting an immersive land elsewhere.
7:30 okay I get they can't give kids an axe, BUT THEY COULDN'T HAVE GIVEN THEM A CARDBOARD CROWN
Must be copyright reason. Burger king is the current fast food chain that does that gimmick.
I wish they made a Far Far Away in the states. The potential for a Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey level ride inside that castle is insane and I can’t believe why (because it’s cheap) they chose to just put in that old lame waste of space of a 3D movie. Rides are always better than 3D movies. Also rides with real animatronics and sets rather than screens.
Because it's much cheaper.
was there last year, i enjoyed it for what it was but wish they had done more
Hope we will have a proper far far away land with a proper friar fat boy i always wanted to eat there
the medieval meal not being there is a crime
If there’s a chance that they’re gonna get rid of that Marvel superhero land because of the rat with plans of taking over the entertainment industry, I believe they could replace it with Far Far Away Land. It makes sense because a majority of Dreamwork films are based on works of literature, and Islands of Adventure carries the theme of “from page to screen”.
They’re doing a whole Shrek land at the kids park
Ngl I kinda wish Far Far Away was in Orlando but the swamps cool too
You know, first you gotta experience the land and I’ve been there about 50 times and I’ve always thought that it was good not high tier Universal but good enough to exist cos Madagascar was literally right next to it. Now that’s gone, wait times in the land are usually less than 30 mins. PIB can get 60 min or more so if one land has to go its this one. (Also u take that out theres space for harry potter just saying just saying)
#NotmyFriar
I know that statue of King Harold as a frog when I saw on Shrek The Third
The timeline is a dumb gripe. That happens so much. If that’s a problem you could say the same thing about the Harry Potter area
I visited Singapore Universal Studios in early 2018. Massive disappointment. The far far away sign was sun-bleached (mostly yellow and green), the shrek rides were dull, the Jurassic park rapids were dilapidated (animatronics broken, their skins were torn and were hanging off), part of this land flooded in the rain storms and was closed (built at a lower elevation), the food was garbage… overall, unless Universal buy it out (it’s a franchise), it is not worth the cost.
5:46
They *SHREK’D* up. 😂
I'm kind of disappointed with the new DreamWorks Land coming to Florida. Shrek deserves a land to himself. The brand is popular enough and there's so much potential for awesome rides. Even though it's lore inconsistent, I'm glad they have Shrek's Swamp in Singapore because its just too iconic to not include
Pikmin Replacing Men in Black Alien Attack On Wednesday
Jurassic World River Rescue Replacing Jurassic Park: River Adventure
By your logic, Olivanders in Hogsmeade is bad. Imagine if theme park builders didn’t include such an iconic part of the franchise because of “location”. I am super picky about stuff like this as well, but getting mad because they included the swamp is too much.
Rare universal L
I wish Super Nintendo World in Singapore was built over Far Far Away.
The food at Friar's may have been changed because of the country it is located in. They may not approve of all that fried goodness.
what is the swamp at uso even going to be? just a meet and greet?
5:35 i believe it's because of epic universe with the same reasoning why Mario merch will be at universal studios orlando
It's like Monet painting. From far away it's okay, but up close it's a big ol' mess. (Cher Horowitz quote)
I died when I saw toothless lol
i heart u attraction ideas ur my favorite theme park youtuber
While I agree that the rides are extremely lacking as well as other things to do, it’s really annoying that you keep bringing up how it breaks the timeline and it doesn’t make sense that his swamp is near the castle. It doesn’t matter if the place doesn’t fit in the “timeline” because all that matters is the cool atmosphere and solid rides.
What we are getting in Dreamworks USF is likely all we are getting with Shrek in Universal. Including fear factor, HHN houses, Simpsons even they could have built a big Shrek Land at USF if they wanted to. Those resources are going into Pokemon which is a smart move. I am shocked people are still into Shrek these days. The dreamworks land should be neat though.
They should of built far far away at epic universe instead of how to train your dragon land
I genuinely can’t tell if this is joke video or not
I’ll be honest, the whole of Singapore universal is terrible. I did the whole park from 11am to about 2pm. It’s only saving grace is their version of Jurassic park which is superior to our Orlando one. Also in shrekland they have about 5 songs some of which last about 30 seconds, oh and preodactyl flyers here is for grown ups which is pretty cool
Why is there so much emphasis on the timeline. It doesn't really matter at all. Were they just not supposed to put shreks swap there because canonically its far away???
Would the UK Universal Studios would be a good place for a Shrek Land?
We have Shrek's Adventure over here already (it's in London)
I went last September and it was a disappointment. I still had a good time at least but you can tell universal didn't care about Singapore. I'm sure families who don't get to deal with theme parks other than China and Japan love it. It's the six flags on southern Asia.
I feel like there is a video for how Singapore universal studios is the six flags of the states.
imo this land would be fixed with a shrek 4D replacement (dark ride?) and a retheme of puss coaster to last wish. i love the fact that puss coaster is an invert with beanstalk theming it’s just TOO good. i don’t care as much for timelines in my land i think everything else is great, ESPECIALLY streetmosphere/character greeting (you can meet Prince Charming right? rip donkey but charming is hilarious) and that FERRIS WHEEL IN THE BAR??? spectacular!! they just need to get rid of 4D and i guess SOME timeline adjustments (maybe a gag where projection mapping appears to turn the godmother sign into bubbles??) would make it perfect imo
They should have put that dark ride they have done in other Universial in this Singapore one
I'm loving the more consistent uploads, this is one of my favourite channels on UA-cam.
Also, somehow you're getting better at whisper-screaming
Maybe there was some censorship issues with Friar’s fat boy?
Dude… with all due respect… who cares about a timeline for Shrek. This is clearly a “Best of” from all of their movies and spinoffs. It actually looks pretty awesome taken at Face value.
My problem with Disney’s Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is… it takes itself way too seriously. It should just be a celebration of Star Wars. Families just want to go see Darth Vader AND BB8 AND the Mandalorian, so on and so forth. Timelines and geography be damned. It’s not a movie. It’s a theme park land that celebrates a franchise of movies. Keep it simple for the VAST MAJORITY of visitors.
Chill.
I visited USS for the first time last month and Shrek was my favorite land. I thought it was dope. Only thing I didn’t like was that awful Shrek 4D show
Sorry for this incoming dump but this is something that I’ve been advocating for a while now…
Why are we getting How to Train Your Dragon in Epic Universe?? That franchise is completely irrelevant. I loved the first movie as a kid when it came out, but it does not compare to the cultural relevance Shrek has on our generation. I imagine at the early stages of designing Epic Universe, the sequels were relevant, and Shrek just seemed like a meme at the time. But if Universal was actually building an entire Far Far Away land, the timing couldn’t be better. Puss in Boot 2 did great in theatres, and we know now that Shrek 5 is officially coming. Not to mention, Shrek 2 was just rereleased in theaters, and we literally have a Shrek Rave.
Yet Universal decided to remove the Shrek 4D ride, and make a small land tailored towards children.
When they removed Shrek 4D it tore out a piece of my soul. I get extremely passionate about this subject lol sorry.
Why is the far far away castle close
Sure... But I'll trade Villain Con for it
What about something like the wizarding world:
The castle with the princess in studios
The tree in woody woodpeckers kids zone
Far far away in epic universe
This man complains too much about where this land takes place in the canon. Personally I like when theme parks pay homage to the whole series they’re representing in a land
hella fav youtuber.
Shrek is Love Shrek Is Life
Imma be complete honest with you, this video just feels extra nitpicking to me. As a fan of the shrek films, I genuinely couldn't care less about the timeline stuff, I'm just happy this place EXISTS. The only thing i MIGHT agree with you on is the restaurant stuff, and even then its a hard maybe.
I would sacrifice my kids to Shrek
What if they had a parody ride of small world in duloc 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I've been binging a bunch of your videos, but this one seems of the wall. Ranting about movie geography, timelines, and restaurant menus just makes no sense when talking about park theming. Especially when one of your other videos I've just watched was ranting about Ratatouille the ride just being Ratatouille the movie, in ride form.
Let's stop making entire lands based off a single IP...
Except marvel. Because marvel is composed of subfranchises
5:44 it’s true their all connected
Tbh there is a sreak fan in my class
From what I’ve seen, this land looks kinda cool for what it is.
#DisneyDiva ❤
While far far away reduces wait times across the park, I won’t be sad when it’s gone bc it’s just the second worst land, where the first was Madagascar, which is now gone
I have a video idea I think would be interesting to explore. With Epic Games being purchased by Disney, could they make a themed area out of it? Also for universal. I deeply believe a Minecraft land would be wildly successful if they were able to collaborate with Mojang.
WHAT IF TOON LAGOON BECAME FAR FAR AWAY, it's genius comic strip lane becomes the path up to Far Far Away and then Dudley Do Right gets rethemed to look like the castle and would be a retelling of Shrek 2, and Popeye could be rethemed into a Puss in Boots ride on his adventure right before he met Shrek with him meeting Shrek and Donkey as the final scene, the ice cream shop across could become the potion shop from Shrek 2 where each treats flavor has a magical spell or something and Popeyes ship could become a big tree house type of play area since this lower half of the land would be more Foresty
Second comment
Shallow and pedantic.
It might help
You sound like such a karen lmao
Bro cares too much about the timeline
I don’t care about timelines or accuracy in a theme park personally.
7:30 okay I get they can't give kids an age, BUT THEY COULDN'T HAVE GIVEN THEM A CARDBOARD CROWN
Probably because it would inevitably cause Problems when someone proceeds to board a ride shortly afterwards.
