Being an introvert, and having a Taiwanese partner who speaks really good English, I find that my ability to keep speaking in Mandarin at home really depends on my social charge level. If I've been talking all day (any language) and feel like I need to recharge, it can be hard to make conversations happen in my second language Mandarin when there's the option of straight forward, efficient English
got you, the factors are many, but one's self-determination is the only key one
The only detriment is impatience.
