    WHAT’S IN
    What is Physical Education?
✅ Physical Education - is the core of
    education curriculum which aims to
    develop students physical, emotional,
    mental and social competence and
knowledge of movement and safety. Its
    goal is to develop physicallly-educated
    individuals.
    WHAT’S NEW
    THE MEASURABLE COMPONENTS OF
    PHYSICAL FITNESS
To clarify the meaning of physical fitness,
it is quite important to identify its two
    measurable components. The most
    frequently sighted components are Health-
    related physical fitness (the total
functioning of the body) and Skill-related
    physical fitness (consists of components
that have a relationship with learning
    motor skills).
    A. The Components of Health-Related
    Physical Fitness:
    1. Body composition - refers to the
relative amount of muscle, fat, bone and
other vital parts of the body.
    2. Flexibility - the range of motion in the
    body.
    3. Muscular endurance - the ability of
the muscle to continue to perform without
    fatigue.
    4. Muscular strength - the ability of the
muscle to exert force during an activity.
    5. Cardiovascular endurance - the
ability of the body’s circulatory and
respiratory systems to supply fuel during
    sustained physical activity.
    B. The Components of Skill-Related
    Physical Fitness:
    1. Agility - the ability to move quickly and
    change directions in different levels.
    2. Balance - refers to the sense of
equilibrium in the body. The weight of the
body rests in the center of gravity.
    3. Coordination - the ability to use body
parts and senses together to produce
    smooth, efficient movements vital in
    sports; for example hand-eye coordination
    in racket sports.
    4. Power - performing a task quickly and
    forcibly.
    5. Reaction Time - how quickly your
brain can respond to a stimulus and
initiate a response. Example: A volleyball
    player reacting to a spike.
    6. Speed - the ability to reach a distance
in the shortest period of time.
    BENEFITS DERIVED FROM BEING
    PHYSICALLY FIT:
 It makes the body strong and healthy.
 It improves health and skill-related
    components of fitness.
 It helps the body adopt to different
    physical exertion or activities.
 It enables one to do different activities and still have reserved energy.
 It avoids cardio and respiratory illness.
 It helps the body to be in good shape.
 It makes the body become flexible and less susceptible to sickness
    WHAT I HAVE LEARNED
 Physical fitness is a state of health and well-being and, more specifically, the ability to perform aspects of sports, occupations and
    daily activities.
Physical fitness is generally achieved through
proper nutrition, moderate-vigorous physical exercise, and sufficient rest.
     Participating in Physical Fitness
test will help you identify which areas of fitness you need to improve on.
 The normal pulse rate has to be
determined before and after the test.
     Body composition - is the body’s
relative amount of fat to fat - free mass.
 Cardiovascular endurance - is the
ability of the heart, lungs and blood vessels to deliver oxygen to working muscles and tissues, as well as the ability of those muscles and tissues to utilize that oxygen.
 Strength refers to the muscle’s ability to generate force against physical objects.
 Flexibility refers to the ability of the
joints to move through a full range of motion
 Sit and reach is a test of flexibility for the lower extremities particularly the hamstring.
