Whoever came up with the idea for the setting in which Sammy tells his stories deserves credit for creating the perfect storytelling environment. The fireplace with the mantle above it....the big leather covered chair....the little table next to it with the coffee cup and sometimes the ashtray....it's sort of like you're sitting in your uncle's den while he waxes on about great stories from the past.
Sammy I can relate to your stories so well .I haven't killed anyone but same thing story after story .So many funny things to recall all the way to having my nose broke as well ,the stuffing must have been a mile long .i was so relieved to get it out but really didn't help at first must have been pretty swelled up , it took a couple years for the septum to get better very tender yours too ?

I love listening to Sammy. I grew up in Detroit in an Italian neighborhood and we did a lot of the crazy crap Sammy did, just not as extreme. It brings back crazy but fond memories of Detroit in the 60s & 70s.

One of his best stories (for me) doesn't have to do with crime. The story about the horse farm and how much he and his family loved it is as good and entertaining as any of his other stories. And the way he ends it, kind of like how he ended the story today, is priceless.
Sammy, Everytime I hear your stories with Alley boy it reminds me of my Brother Alex J and myself. We ran up and down Livernois everyday looking for a hustle or come up or what we called a lick. It sounds like Southwest Detroit and Brooklyn have a lot in common. God bless.
