exactly! and that's exactly how it's supposed to be. not one minute sweet then the next minute evil like in most movies. TWO. DIFFERENT. PEOPLE. i'm a psych major and from what i've seen this is one of the most, if not the most, accurate portrayals of DID
14:40 “I'm curious, do you think that Khonshu chose you as his avatar because your mind would be so easy to break or because it was broken already?” “No, I'm not broken. Just need some help, maybe.” This was one of the big moments in watching the show for me, where I realised the creators would be making a point about how people with Dissociative Identity Disorder are treated.
The show made me curious about the disorder and I went to go read up on it. It's really heartbreaking that people develop this disorder and their families have to learn how to navigate it. Wow.
Fun little behind the scenes info: When Oscar Isaac is acting opposite "himself" as either Steven or Marc in long/complex scenes, his own real life brother was hired to be the stand in for him to act to.
@NaishiYT when Oscar issac is playing both Steven and Marc (like when they're talking back and forth in a single scene), Oscar is actually talking to his own real life brother (Mike Hernandez.) It's edited with visual effects to appear as him talking to himself, but in reality, he's talking to Mike. Oscar requested his brother be hired to act as a stand in so he would be able to feel the emotions of talking to someone he's actually emotionally close to (instead of a random person.)
@@scarlettsugar8159 ohhhhh alright! So did his brother actually like speak the lines for Oscar to respond to or did his brother just stand there while Oscar spoke?
Fun fact: they had consultants on the show who specialize in D.I.D. to be as accurate as possible. Some things are still simply for us as the viewers, like when Oscar talks to himself in reflections. From what I understand, that isn’t something that actually happens with someone suffering from DID. Closest thing to it is when alters switch who is “fronting”, they could “see” someone completely different in the mirror because different alters can have vastly different tastes. Style of clothing, mannerisms, even the way the hair is styled can be so different you feel you’re looking at someone else entirely. In the comics, Steven Grant is American, and he’s an extremely successful film producer. Being very wealthy funds his missions as Moon Knight, while also using his social status to gather intel. I won’t spoil anything more, but you guys are in for a hell of a ride. Buckle up buttercups.
You might be the only reactors I’ve seen who caught Harrow’s hypocrisy when he killed that homeless man who picked up the scarab without “judging” him. Keep an eye out for stuff like that, it’s usually subtle but it’s a recurring theme with Ammit and her followers.
@@Souledex Every time we see them judging people, they make a point of showing the scales or the cane pendulum. This poor homeless guy, he just walks up to him, grabs the scarab, says “sorry, you don’t have a future” and kills him. That was pure murder with no pretext of judgement.
@@calibadgerdude6082 Or because that was pre-established as the process we are supposed to assume the process is clearly being done and the moment he grabs his hand he begins registering judgement. Or he simply is coming into the use of his power and is able to quickly ascertain whether most people's scales are balanced. Like he could be a hypocrite - but that makes the rest of the story dumb, or at least far less interesting. He himself is ready to die for his unbalanced scales - but it is revealed that as a vessel Ammit is willing to use him despite that whatever that implies (which means they are no better than Khonshu, and he is a flawed vessel to mirror Marc). Everyone's takeaway is always their future is an "if" so it's precrime minority report style - what if it's not? Well then we actually have a new and interesting story. Same logic - what if Arthur believes in the scales thoroughly because it's not on him to render judgement which makes his desire to commit harm justified - or he just likes hurting people and had a contrived reason and the whole moral quandary of the show was a scam so don't even think about it. The interesting part is clearly in *What makes someone good in the Crocodile god's eyes and do we trust her* or in "even if you inevitably will do evil will your act of evil inspire others to greater acts of good and would preventing your action ensure greater acts of evil be performed in the future with history deprived of the lesson of your actions" or finally - is Ammit just reading the Sacred Timeline, and that makes this another consequence of the truly ridiculous power of Kang's empire so that gods dance to a mortal's drum, and is that not in fact the nature of their universe until Loki upended it. Now that last one is Watsonian but the rest stand on their own and are only interesting if we don't make them uninteresting in an attempt to be clever. It's at best a guess unless the showrunners said something about it, it is interesting to not know perhaps is another bullet point here.
@@Souledex i definitely think Arthur is a hypocrite but not because he killed someone without placing judgement, but more because the fact that he skipped that procedure (of telling the person why they had to die) meant he never really cared about those people who had to die because of Ammit. In the first episode he acted remorseful for having to kill the old lady but here we know that he didn't really care. He treated everyone as black and white. While he said his line "I hope you could live to see the world.." He didn't mean it, which made him hypocritical.

Watching it back a second time, it's insane how clear it is when you're looking at Mark and when you're looking at Steven, even from this episode. Oscar nailed down the little mannerisms SO well, you can tell who you're dealing with by his facial expressions, from the way that he interacts with objects, hell, you can tell from how he STANDS. I'd never heard of Moon Knight before this show, and after watching it I'm not surprised that Marvel Studios didn't attempt it sooner. This kind of performance from an actor is a big ask, and the fact that Oscar makes the audience believe it from start to finish is a testament to his acting abilities.

As someone with DID. I can tell you certain things are very accurate here. Losing control of body parts, like when Stephen couldn’t hand over the scarab, does happen. Other alters can get control of part of the body sometimes. For instance, one of my young alters grabbed a stuffed animal once while I was fronting and I literally couldn’t move my arms to let go of it, because she wanted to hold it. Like Stephen you “black out/sleep walk” and come to with no clue of how you get from one place to another. When another alter fronts I often do not remember anything that happened while they were there. Unlike Steven (my autocorrect keeps changing the spelling on his name haha) we don’t see each other in mirrors (that’s a film thing). We can sometimes talk in our head. And the alters I’m closer too are easier to communicate with, personally. Usually we talk in notes left in the physical world or in our headspace. Some alters have no clue they have DID. This is a defense mechanism to keep one or more alters from realizing how much trauma they have gone through. I did not know I had alters until a couple years ago. Same way Steven does not understand that Mark is there/real. This is often the case to keep the host safe from the memories of horror that happened to them as a child. (The host being the person who fronts in the body the most often.) Alters are different people. Different mannerisms, tastes, styles, voices, even different skill sets. I’ve literally been talking to a friend and all the sudden lost control over my voice because I was talking about something one protector liked and he got excited and starting going on a rant about it and I could hear our voice drop as he talked before I switched out. Some of my friends can tell the second I switch because the alters act and sound so different from me. But if you didn’t know me personally, you likely wouldn’t see the difference. Most of my alters do their best to hide their distinctions unless they feel safe around others. There are a few things this show gets wrong, but I mostly shrug it off as creative license/superhero genre stuff. I can tell they actually tried to get it close unlike some DID depictions that are not as good, let’s just say. DID is not easy to live with, but people can function at a very high level with it and you’d probably never know. Glad you’re having fun.
Moon Knight has supernatural powers, Batman is physically a mundane human. Batman will always be the ultimate hero for me. Talented by choice and uses his almost never ending wealth to help the city in both his lives. I am a self proclaimed Bruce Wayne stan 😂

Although the Moon Knight suit looks CGI a large portion of the shots are of a practical suit. The practical suit is an absolute piece of art. You guys should check out the UA-cam video showing all the details in the practical suit.
This might have seemed disconnected from the MCU because Moon Knight is usually part of the Netflix community of heroes. Meaning in the books Moon Knight is more of a city than world hero, basically Marvel's Batman.
The reflections thing is purely a cinematic way of showing the inner conversation and doesn’t happen in real life but it’s an interesting way to visualise it. It seems more like Marc is trying to divorce her to keep her safe. Alters don’t consciously “create” personality aspects such as Steven liking all of Laylas favourite things. Chances are Marc had those things around the apartment, Steven would find the things look into them and seemed to like it as well! If you gave each of Steven and Marc a body they would be fully their own people, but as DID works they share a body
The only real connections they have shown to the larger MCU so far is there was a "blink and you miss it" poster for the Global Repatriation Council which is the resettlement program for those returning from the Blip, which we first heard about in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but . Marc suffers from D.I.D -disassociate identity disorder it is formally known as multiple personality disorder. In the comic it is speculated that Marc has 5 personalities
I still maintain that Moon Knight should have beee a movie instead of Disney+ show.....the show suffered from slow pacing and side storylines but had this been a movie the pacing would been so much better and the character being one of the coolest in the MCU...i hope though that with Blade, Ghost Rider, we get Moon Knight a proper MCU movie too
@BaddMedicine, 29:01 The MCU =/= Marvel Comics. The MCU has been doing its own thing since 2008, and it's going to keep doing its own thing. It draws inspiration from popular stories but tells those stories in a very different light--don't look too deeply into your encyclopedia or any comics you might have on hand. The origin stories are similar to comics, but they are also different--Luke at Hulk's comic origin or Iron Man's, for that matter. Similar or very different. This series was designed to be a standalone. That said, there are hints of Falcone and the Winter Soldier and post Thanos attack in this like signage on the bus talking about GRC, but that's about it. You'll see why as the story goes on, we have a unique superhero on our hands with Moon Knight. Enjoy the rides, fellas. This is a good one!
I didn't understand the comics when I was a kid because of his condition. I just thought they were weird. But I've had his Funko in my PC for years now. MK is also referred to as the Marvel Batman.
Was it Steven in the mirror in the end in the hotel room or another identity? I love Oscar Isaac in this role❤ Hope to see Moon Knight in the Blade movie again! Greetings from Germany
Moon Knight is definitely bad ass and like some other bad ass characters like Doctor Strange, etc, are surprisingly under developed with little amount of stories in comparison to many other characters in the marvel universe, specifically the comics.

The only real connections they have shown to the larger MCU so far is there was a "blink and you miss it" poster for the Global Repatriation Council which is the resettlement program for those returning from the Blip, which we first heard about in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
You all have your catchphrases. "I am definitely ready, willing and able to see more." - Answer, The
I think i should have waited for you guys to finish watching this show then binge the reaction. Now im regretting.
It's my favorite MCU Show/series.
MoonKnight will eventually connect to the greater MCU story and to Midnight Sons. Think supernatural Avengers.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but . Marc suffers from D.I.D -disassociate identity disorder it is formally known as multiple personality disorder. In the comic it is speculated that Marc has 5 personalities
36:25 They don't call him THE ANSWER for nothing
The Astral Plane ,
Black panther and Moon Knight,
Werewolf by Night with DrStrange,
No daylight required...
I still maintain that Moon Knight should have beee a movie instead of Disney+ show.....the show suffered from slow pacing and side storylines but had this been a movie the pacing would been so much better and the character being one of the coolest in the MCU...i hope though that with Blade, Ghost Rider, we get Moon Knight a proper MCU movie too
Another great reaction! Moon Knight is a solid series from Marvel.
There’s rumors they might put moon knight in a midnight suns projects. Love this character 🔥💯
5:05 You should scan the QR code - and any others you spot! I mentioned it (and why) in the comments for the first episode reaction 😊
@13:00...police do drive Volvos in the UK though.
Moon Knight is so cool!
I love mk so much 😂

The QR codes in the series lead to different old back issue of Moon Knight.
Here you are back ✨🔥

It’s tide in with kang the conqueror in the near future
36:20 Great observation & theory
Have y'all watched the sandman? That's worth checking out. Season 2 is in the works!
Yes, you *should* hit that QR code. It does take ya somewhere. No, really. It does.
@BaddMedicine,
29:01 The MCU =/= Marvel Comics.
I’m enjoying this
I didn't understand the comics when I was a kid because of his condition. I just thought they were weird. But I've had his Funko in my PC for years now. MK is also referred to as the Marvel Batman.
It’s such a unique show! 👏🏾
I wish you guys upload moonknight more frequently.
You definitely should do the Bourne films. At least the first 3 and Legacy
IIRC, there's a QR code in each episode and they go to a free copy of a Moon knight comic that corresponds to what happens in the episode
A lot of police cars are Volvos in the UK... a surprising number actually
Was it Steven in the mirror in the end in the hotel room or another identity? I love Oscar Isaac in this role❤ Hope to see Moon Knight in the Blade movie again! Greetings from Germany
I’d love to see you guys react to BERSERK redux!
Moon Knight is definitely bad ass and like some other bad ass characters like Doctor Strange, etc, are surprisingly under developed with little amount of stories in comparison to many other characters in the marvel universe, specifically the comics.
Moon Knight is my favorit character next to Nova and Miles Morales❤
i really hope we get Midnight sons ...moonknight ,dr strange, punisher ,blade, ghost rider etc
