Love all the videos bringing a smile to my face since my wife passed in January. Best wishes from Terry in Wexford Ireland.
Are you the Terry McNamee from Faith of our Fathers on Telly Eireann? (episode 1 Fr Ted)
Best wishes Terry. Sorry for your loss.
Keep smiling Terry. Sorry for your loss.
God bless you terry keep smiling!!
Thanks! After last year's wild goose chase for those beers I'd given up this year checking the Lidl "coming next week" magazines - assumed not this as they never appeared and Oktoberfest is over. Saw this vid, headed straight over and got one. Can't wait - love some new German beers!
Need to start a petition to get premium perlenbacher into our UK stores for good! 4 x 500ml for £5.50? I'd pay it
@6:03 That bag of chips looks soooo vintage, so 80's "Only Fools and Horses" era, I like it. 😉😂 Sláinté Simon 🍻🍺🍻
Thanks for the review. Just picked up my case - long 20 min walk home carrying it. The Perlenbacher is £1.79 in Scotland with MUP
By chance found this suitcase of beers in Lidl today on the way home from work! Was really gutted thinking it wouldn't be released this year but now I'm well pleased
Cheers Simon, didn't even watch video, straight in car to Lidl and bought two cases.Bought one last year went to buy another the following day and they were all gone.
I've watched the video now though!
That Schneiderweise festweisse was absolutely superb last year. Highlight of the box
Just got home after popping into Lidl at lunchtime to stock up on German beer, I bought all the loose bottles and was contemplating the box but ended up buying the Jagdstolze liquor 🥃 at only 11.99. Will defo go back for a couple of boxes this week, they’ll make a great Xmas present if I don’t drink them all beforehand. Thanks for all your work, I really enjoy watching your content!
Thanks for this video had no idea Lidl sold this beer collection. Went straight out and bought the second last one in my local Lidl 🎉🎉😂
I happened (arranged) to drive past a Lild tonight and was very please to pick up a couple of boxes. Yes I had the same ones last year, but it's a great price and very nice beers. I'm hoping Lidl get the message and bring over the advent boxes from the same company - that would be a real winner.
Wow looks amazing 100% agree bit late to the party are Lidl seems bizarre they would bring it out so late.
Just got my box of oktoberfest beers, very excited!! About 50 boxes left in my local lidl (Stockport) 🍻🍺
Just got my box, cant wait. Lucky enough to be in Munich for Oktoberfest last month, after stocking up from Aldi after the recent release I can keep the party going for even longer. Prost!
Great video Simon thanks for review of these wonderful items of food and drink
Got mine today! I’m tempted to get another but that might be gluttony.
Very tempted by the suitcase, looks like an inviting selection
Great stuff ! I stocked up on paulaner Oktoberfest after seeing the Aldi range on your video so thanks mate I will be going to Lidle later it’s great to see the return of the sausages 😂
Fantastically prompt, Si. Bought a similar haul myself this morning. Looking forward to the reviews 👍
Yeah, Oktoberfest ended Sunday 6th October, so I wasn't expecting this suitcase to turn up this year. Thanks to this video I got a chance to go and pick it up. It was long gone last year, after your video. Couldn't find it anywhere. So, chuffed to get it this year! I wish that Lidl would stock some of Kalea's other boxes. They do a Brewer's Advent Calender one as well - 24 cans. All sorts of styles, from Pale Bock to Weizen to Smoked Beer to Pilsner to Dark Bock, etc. I'd pick it up, if they did it over here!
hope to be able to sell it to you next year in Costco... got some exciting news coming your way
Cheers for posting this...thought lidl had given it a miss, i'll try and get a case!
Got mine, had given up on lidl getting any, so cheers.
Just got mine ...wow what a selection ..bought it and came straight to this channel 😂
A new Lidl has opened up here in Fulham, West London, its totally transformed the area for the better!
Picked up some single bottled Spaten 5.2 and Erdinger Oktoberfest 5.7 wheats for £1.99 at the local Lidl here. Not usually a fan of Erdinger but I'll give it a try. Had this box last year, some impressive numbers in there for the price; used to be the cans were 99p/ £1.25, better off getting the same bottled stuff for £1.49.
Excellent video Simon. I once again bought this box but I'll savor them over the next couple of months 🍻
I’ve finally managed to get my hands on the 10 pack of Oktoberfest at my local Lidl in the Netherlands, last year they didn’t sell them due to a shipping problem. I’m very happy that I’ve found it this year Simon
@@robv.8676 Ik heb 24,99€ ervoor betaald
ddn't see the beer case in Lidl yesterday, looks like I'm gonna have to pop down again now :)
Did you manage to get one? by the looks of it they didn’t order that many in and those they did flew off the shelves very quickly.
@@deangriffiths8638 yes I did, 2 left so only had the one, still not opened it yet
I thought they weren't bothering with Oktoberfest...but they were waiting for Aldi to do theirs and now brought out the best Oktoberfest so far!
I'll definitely be going Saturday!
That Spaten is next level geezer.
Light and crisp despite the 5.2
I had their 10 box last year, loved it, and have bought this new one today.
Just picked up a box in Lidl Grangetown plus some Spaten, the festbier and some Radler. Not a huge supply in store so I suggest you get down to Lidl pronto
The box is the same as last year which I got. There were a few I wasn't keen on and my thing so won't be bothering this year. I will be picking up a few bottles of Spaten and the cans though
Just popped in for the £25 pack and 4 cans of Festival and 4 cans of Wheat beer. Should keep me busy for a while.
Girl on checkout said theyre very popular.
Will have to look today for the beers but my local Lidl didn’t have any of this earlier this week.
Release day was today
Another good video Simon
Dang, I've got to try to get one of those big boxes home on my bike again!
Great video. I can't eat white sausage - reminds me too much of 1980s dog poo!
This video popped up on my phone at lunchtime - guess where I went shopping on the way home!
My Lidl didn't have the curry wurst sausages but I picked up the beer ones - says for grilling or frying on the pack. They also had Erdinger Oktoberfest beer.
Only disappointment is they didn't seem to have the pork knuckle this year and I forgot to look in the freezer section for the schnitzels!
I did some digging around. Here in the Netherlands the Alpenfest was in week 35 (29 aug), and the set of beers sold for 24,99 euro (didn't see any in 2 Lidls that I frequent). Last year it was from 7 september for 19,99. Oh and they sold Erdinger Fest Weizen 4 pack in the last week of september 2024. So I guess september is German beer month here.
I was lucky to grab two boxes yesterday. I had emailed the supplier to see if they were supplying Lidl this year and they confirmed they were and would be available towards the end of September. One thing to share is the BBD on these beers is short and the Falter has a bbd of 28.12.24. both boxes have the same dates. So assume a deal was done to sell these off at cheaper price for Lidl. That said they are still great beers.
This is what they confirmed "I have now checked again and can tell you the following:
A total of 16,000 Wiesen Tragerl were sent to all Lidl central warehouses in the UK.
Unfortunately, we cannot say to which stores these were then forwarded."
hi Paul, thank you for your interest in our products - no the shelf life of Fest beer (october fest) are normally shorter than normal. all beers are brewed for Octoberfest times. we work for years with Lidl world wide with this box made special for them. Hope you can pick up the Advents beer in Costco next year - working on that now ;-) and i am sure you will get information if you follow this channel. cheers,
Hallelujah!
Looks a good haul, I’m skipping the beer and heading for the food 😀
Festbier is £1.79 in Scotland . Picked up six cans
Great review
Get that bunker built Simon
16th of Oct 2024 or Thursday? It can't be both.
The Aldi near me hasn't stocked any Oktoberfest beer up to now. To say I am incensed is an understatement😟. Will make a trip to LIdl to scope for this offering. Should I fail in my endeavour to source some, I will be on a train headed for Munich😎
Youve missed Aldi I think it was a few weeks ago but the selection wasn't great.
I could be wrong but for the white sausages I think you're meant to boil them.
Nope, do as it says on the package. These are white, but they are not weisswurst.
Addition, they are white because they are already boiled, so the protein turns white, like a boiled egg.
None of these beers in my local lidl, they really should order more stock, very popular, thanks to this yt channel.....
Weissewurst are breakfast sausages. You boil them (I think) and serve with a bit of rye bread or prezel and that delicious sweet mustard. Germans usually eat them by squeezing the meat of out the skin to eat
I am cooking them right now buddy, got them in the frying pan on the bar
I think you will find the skins are plastic and your meant to take the meat out which the Germans find highly amusing when someone (usually English)eats them not 100% sure but I think that’s the case ,and yes they’re cooked in very hot water but I don’t think boiling ,🤷🏻♂️could be wrong
Currywurst and one of them boxes of beer for me £1.50 for the can of festbier still worth it compared to the cruz campo carling rubbish and other bad examples of beer out there
Alan, you’re correct. To boil them will split the skin, leave for 10 minutes in very hot water. Never heard of anyone frying weißwurst!
@@munichbier1167Simon fries everything, he’ll be alright 😅
Wo Weißwurst?
I asked a few weeks ago in Lidl about the Oktoberfest beer delays and was told they had been held up in transit.
Thank you for the video. I ran down to Lidl and purchased the Beers. I also purchased your Octoberfest beers you suggested from Aldi. What is the best Octoberfest German Supermarket in the UK for 2024 In your view?
I stocked up on Oktoberfest Erdinger at £1.99 a bottle and 500ml cans of Perlenbacher Festbier. And the Currywurst is amazing
I managed to find a suitcase in the second Lidl I went to! Brixton still has about 4 still on the shelves.
I struggle to find these multi-box fest beers in our local aldi. Still, We go again tomorrow in hope.
This is from Lidl.
It’s Lidl not Aldi
Have these just launched? Because hasn’t Oktoberfest finished?
Yup. Apparently a German supermarket doesn't know when Oktoberfest is. Weird eh?
@@davidk7262 utter madness that haha
17th 😂 keep off the beer
Just sent the wife down to lidl... she picked up 3... 2 for me 1 for a mate we arw saving them for xmas
... having a massive 5 day session lol
Thought this would be coming. I've grabbed the box, festbier and wheat beer. But might go back for more of the cans if they're good!
Get some of the smoked sausages with cheese, just cooked one, they are incredible!!
Lidl sell a 6 pack of Silesian sausages for about £3.50 - they are very good and u can eat them cold - bit pricey but really nice and sometimes u get the 30% or 60% off depending on the use by date
I've not seen anything at all in my local Lidls so far in the West Midlands
I’ve got one!
The box of beers was worth it for the stuff you never get to try in the UK. I thought a few of them were bang average when I tried them last year though.... Them's the breaks I suppose!
I went to my local Lidl in Newry, NI this morning and they had no sign of Oktoberfest happening. Two beers on the shelf that were German, Perlenbacher and Patronus Weissbier. For a German supermarket, it's so poor and disheartening to see that they haven't got a good selection of proper German beer.
had to pause the video and boost to Lidl as soon as I saw the beer box. Managed to nab 3!
Happy days
@@kosmosfaber6534 what do u mean ?
Great box of beer but would have liked them to change up some of the beers. Exactly the same as last year.
Good vid 👍
Just picked my case in Lidi Guildford just now....walked all round the store looking for it thinking it wasn't there...buried in the middle of a whole aile of Xmas stock!!
Sounds like Lidl! Beer next to the inflatable kayaks and angle grinders. Love the place!
I watched this 5 days too late, no chance getting that suit case of beer now 😢
are all the beers the same as last years or are they different ones in the pack, please?
Same beers
Excellent
Its exactly the same box as you reviewed last year, have your opinions on the beer changed since last year, its the same line up, I wonder if your taste buds have changed with regards to which beer you like the most.
Seeing it's the same selection, it would be great if Simon could test his top 2-3 beers from last year simultaniously. Just to see how much or how close the "9 out of 10" rated beers are apart. Wondering what his top 3 beers from the box are, and worth hunting for instead of waiting a whole more year for an other box.
Last years ranking:
6/10: Wildbrau, Erlkonig festbier
7/10: Teisnacher 1543
8/10: Falter Pichelsteiner Festbier
9/10: Schneider Festweisse, Irlbacher Volksvestbier, Bischofshof Festbier, Gillamoos Bier, Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier, Hohenthanner Festbier,
these are Fest beer - Octoberfest so it will most likely be the same again next year.. and they do taste different from year to year - just a wine also changes Character each year. If you want same tast in a beer go for the big industrial brands like Warsteiner, Bitburger - if you love beer brewed with passion go for these ;-)
Been really jealous last two years as my Lidl in Scotland never had the OF beers. Rushed up just now for a look and can’t believe they had it. Walking out of Lidl with a big smile on my coupon, like a wee laddie in the toy shop😂
I never seem to find them up here either. Was starting to wonder if it was some nanny state nonsense not allowing beer promotions.
@@TedsonJones This might be the first time we’ve had them up here. Good to see given the nanny state guff we’ve to put up with. Plenty Spaten too which I’ve never seen in Lidl. Happy days.
I’ll be down there filling my boots tomorrow but find it weird Lidl as a German supermarket managed to do this two weeks late!
Oh and the white beer sausages are supposed to be cooked in water then you peel the skin off.
Ah thanks for that :-)
Yeah, you'd expect better from a German company; unless this is what is leftover, and they'll flog it to the British who won't know Oktoberfest finished 2 weeks ago.
Ahhhh where is the dunkel
It’s actually the 17th of October as I should know as it’s my Dads birthday 🎂 !!!
Lidl doesnt even have all this stuff in Germany (Berlin) I think they promote Oktoberfest to make money in other countries... You got to review the Schneider Festweisse its amazing!
I would love to get involved with "October fest" . I can guarantee my local Lidl (here in Liverpool) will not have this in stock.
My local Lidl is a few mins walk away. Gonna take a look now but not holding my breath. I doubt they will have this unfortunately.
Yeah some things are a bit random in lidl even if they have it in some stores elsewhere
@@tucoramirez3333you need to have a good look...Went to my lidl in Guildford and it was buried in with the Xmas promotion stock.
It's not just a bit late, Oktoberfest actually ended on 6th October. But better late than never!!
Why i visit my local lidl never see any of this stuff.. think the staff help themselves to it 0:53
Which Lidl is this from!?
Is the one in Barry? Please let me know
Are you doing a knockout competition Simon? To crown the best in the case? Even include the other single ones you bought.
Looks like its the last of last years stock as some bottles are dated December 24
no - some of these breweries dont have long shelf life printed on the bottles - they will however last at least 15 months..
Exactly the same bottle s as last year. I won’t bother with it this time as I still have some from last year in the cupboard.
Not so good ?
@@tucoramirez3333 Nice selection but not really my thing. All tasted very similar.
White sausage 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆
Oktoberfest is end of September in Germany. I wonder if they just send the leftovers over to us?
Possibly; and a lot of British won't know that Oktoberfest has finished.
Can drink fest beers and marzen beers all year round 👍🍺😀
Oktoberfest beers are sold in Germany at the start of September in the shops...they will sell them till they are sold out I imagine
Shpaten - is how you pronounce it. 🙃
17th of October not the 16th Simon LOL
All the major food groups covered
Good luck anyone affording that amount of beer when Starmer brings in Minimum Unit Pricing.
Surprise surprise. My local Lidl don't do the beer. They never do, they're rubbish.
AI must buy for any English soccer fan now they've got a German manager... haha. I'm finished with them now.
Thursday 17th…..2024😅😅😅😅
Everything but the beer box in my local Lidl. Was down there at 8am too.
Frustrating, they must have sold them already. They should order more in, losing sales due to their measly quantity
I found it in an odd place, not with the other beers in special buys but in that weird middle bit where the aisle of dreams joins the normal aisles on the run to checkouts
25 pounds for 10 beers is a rip off. You would pick them up here in Munich for €10 or less. Not only that, only breweries based in Munich are sold at the Weisn/Oktoberfest. So most of that box you bought are not Wiesn beers at all. Hofbräu is the only Munich beer there.
Honestly with UK pricing at the moment £2.50 per beer is an absolute bargain. I was in Hamburg 3 years ago and the beer prices were below €1 a bottle so I totally understand what you are saying.
Rip off Britain , always has been
these usually retail for over £4 a bottle in UK if you can even get them.
Germany is a special case. Beer is expensive in a lot of countries sadly!
well if you add the flight ticket to go to Munich i am sure it is cheaper to buy it in Lidl - and no these beers you will not get for €10 or less in Munich they are from private Breweries in Bavaria - price will normally be around €1,2 - €2,1 per beer depending on brand
I'd rather those beers were sold individually.
I bought these beers after watching your video.
To be honest, I found them all quite poor tasting.
Still, can’t all like them I guess.
Keep up the great videos.
Lidl are really late with their Octoberfest
This is a FANTASTIC sossage, lovely rich CREAMY mouthfeel.
