I am an black American woman. I have never made pr food before but I love the food. I was scared at first but watched it carefully and made it. 😮💨 It is so good. I am going to try it with steak next time.
If you only knew no one is the color black we are different shades of brown and American is a European man’s last name that we inherited threw colonization the so called black Americans and the so called Puerto Ricans are the same race we have the same forefathers we are of the same tribes different sects but still family our tribe is YASHARAHLA before colonization research that tribe and have understanding
It's amazing how each Hispanic country calls it the same but just changes by a one or couple of ingredients... Salvadorans have a delicious one just like this one. In Mexico exactly the same minus the green olives. Wow! I love all of our Spanish flavors.
Julie: I followed your recipe (with some adjustments.) No lie - I could swear it had been prepared by my sweet, departed mom! And my wife said it was the best dish I ever prepared. Kudos to you - AND lets not omit mention - it was filmed and explained succinctly in 02:12 mins. Thank you for not having to suffer through the banter and blather common to so many other YT cooking vids.
Ugh made this and my spouse fell inlove my dad used to make it for us when we were younger but i was never taught to cook had to learn on my own so the steps were so easy to follow and it came out yummy
I am AA, but my partner is half PR and doesn’t know much about that side.. we love stews and I’ve been looking for PR dishes to learn.. this looks so yummy! Ima make this today and hope she loves it!
Julie, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I grew up with this being my most favorite dish growing up. And NOW I finally made it myself for the very first time. Mine was a bit too much on the tomato side, but I know what to do next time around. Nonetheless, it was a success and both my daughters said it was FIRE. Hats off and massive kudos to you! ❤️❤️❤❤❤#SUBSCRIBED
I just made your recipe for dinner tonight and it was absolutely delicious and flavorful. ❤️😋 so yes I had to subscribe to your channel and blog immediately. I was very afraid I was going to fail miserably but it came out perfect. I just started cooking since I’m a new mom now. So I have to learn how to cook to feed my little one lol but I’m slowly learning so I also clicked on your blog and it was great to follow and super helpful for someone like me. I can’t wait to make some of your other recipes! ❤️❤️ thank you!
Thanks a lot for the recipe I will make it tonight for dinner I’ll put white 🍚 rice on the side too 👍✨😘bless day for all yours 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
This was sooooo good! I only had a green pepper on hand, but that’s the only difference. This will be a regular in my house. I make other rice dishes, but I’m looking to switch it up sometimes. Ty ty!
In puerto rico, we typically add corn on the cob into our pollo guisado. It goes so good with the chicken and potatoes. I invite you all to try it the traditional way by adding in corn on the cob at the last 10 minutes of cooking. You will love it! We also use the whole chicken cut up, but you can also use chicken drumsticks, bone in chicken breast, even chicken thighs in a pinch. It is typically not made with boneless skinless chicken, because the bone in chicken creates a rich stock for the soup.
So here’s the part that has me confused-in the instructions, you say “add the chicken back to the pot and cover with 3 cups of water,” but here in the video, you speak of cover as in putting the lid on (your chicken is also not fully covered by water). The reason I’m confused is because I’m doing the slow cooker and you say put 1 cup of water, but I put more because I thought I had to make sure the water covers the chicken. So now I’m wondering if I have to take the extra water out.
I’m so upset at myself! It’s my first time making this and I kept jumping back between the video and the website. I was sure I got it all right. BUT, I was following the website and it didn’t tell me to put in the tomato paste yet so at the end I was like “wait, when do I put the tomato paste?” Then I jumped back to the video and it was supposed to be sofrito and tomato paste not tomato sauce like the website said! 😩😩😩😩
Unfortunately....my Puerto Rican Husband of 35 years....WILL NOT eat any part of any poultry except Breast & Wings.... I do quite well with that....but.... it just doesn't know what he's missing not eating Thighs..

Nooo!!! Look up bistec encebollado and make that recipe that’s the best pr way!!!
Yum 🎉❤
Don’t use steak! Use the pre-cubed chunks of beef for stew, carne guisado is so good ❤
My kids are half Puerto Rican so I make Pr food for them weekly, lom

This looks awesome much appreciate the ideas
Is this cooked on medium high the entire time?
Very nice and simple!!!
My ex used to make this for me like once a month I would eat it for 3 days straight. I guess that's why it was so hard to leave

What sofrito do you use?

Classic!
🔥
what type of onions do you recommend using? and how many peppers? andd how much seasoning should use? :)

No carrots?
Was that Sofrito?
Bendito 🙏
The rest of my recipe can be found. Aiight I’m out
It's so funny you look at other videos of this dish and it's almost 30 minutes long.
I wonder how this would taste shredded up to make a tripleta sandwich. Wife can eat beef or pork so it would be chicken only
🤤🤤🤤
Unfortunately....my Puerto Rican Husband of 35 years....WILL NOT eat any part of any poultry except Breast & Wings.... I do quite well with that....but.... it just doesn't know what he's missing not eating Thighs..
See Gordon Ramsey that's how it's done pretty sure 👌. )
CHICKEN THIGHS!
🥰😍🤩😘🤗
To make the stew even thicker I smash a few cooked potatoes.
Polloi
So, chicken fricassee?
Nope
OMG
I’m
Azucar
I mean I couldn’t keep up cause u were talking fast
Family please stop using thes Aluminum pots. Very unhealthy. Thanks 🙏🏽 for sharing
What? Poor instructions !
I’ll make it without the skin; skin gets soggy and adds extra fat in stews
Fat equals flavor ☺️
I've never seen grapes added to Pollo guisado before. Interesting. Looks good 👍🏼
They're ALOT of olives😂
