most celebs these days would record it all and post it to social media for some likes. He did a wonderful thing and I guarantee if it wasn’t for other people bringing it up no one would know, speaks volumes about who he is as a person
Bernard Hill deciding he wanted to gallop along the front line, striking everyone's spears with the flat of his blade, and then convincing Peter Jackson to let him do so has to be one of the most inspired choices in all of film history.
@Abram Leonardo I've been seeing your flixzone scam going around. You scammers always use two accounts to hijack top comments and copy/paste these two exact messages. Your hope is that people will be fooled into going to the site when they see two "people" recommending it. Anyone reading: don't go to their website!
This whole segment of the behind-the-scenes of The Lord of the Rings dedicated to horses was so heartwarming it moved me to tears. It did the first time, when I was barely a teenager, and it still does everytime I watch it. Hats off to every single horse-friend who participated in the making of The Lord of the Rings.
This kind of grounded filmmaking is why LOTR works so spectacularly... The true horse lords and ladies were stunt performers and crew members. Love it.
I know I’m biased but the Fields of the Pelennor scene is one of the best in cinema history - the raw emotion and intensity and sweeping visuals. Unbelievable.
Wow, riding like that for a movie, even as just an extra, is such a big dream! Imagine galloping with 250 other riders, waving your sword and screaming as you’re riding towards a (imaginary) battle in full costume… They don’t even need to pay me, I’ll pay them. Take my money! Also LOVE Viggo and his affection for the horses and his coworkers
What a wonderful tribute to all the amazing horses and their humans for being a huge part of such an amazing movie trilogy. I would have loved to been riding in such a beautiful country. Thank you all 🐎🐴🐎🐴❤🙏👏👏
So amazing! I wasn't planning to watch the whole video but here I am, 30min later and with tears in my eyes. They cared so much about all the horses and actors and that really whos in the result
I'm just a regular background actor here in LA, no horse riding skills or amazing talents, but I have to say - it was so nice to hear them consider & thank every single rider in the scene, even someone way in the back. There's something in the cold temperatures, the long hours, and the dragging energy levels on set that can be quite hard work. Not that I can relate to riding a horse all day long! Everyone involved seem like troopers, and a fun bunch of people.
I always forget the insane amount of effort that was put into these movies from just a ridiculous amount of people. it paid off but wow, and all the actors, every single one, are super cool people it’s the absolute dream team
I have watched lotr so many times and seen loads of behind the scene stuff but never seen this and as an equestrian I absolutely love seeing this stuff. Those horses were amazing!! X
I love that the films give tribute to all members involved in the behind the scenes: the costume design, trainers, stuntmen, actors, the directors, and different experts in their fields. It’s a wonderful thing to witness a part of how much sincerity and intricacy was put in the trilogy ❤️
I love these behind the scenes info about the cast working with horses in these kinds of films. Its really hard to find videos like it and I love to see the hard work, passion and kindness that goes into this. People learning to ride or work with horses for the first time, the bond they all develop and how much they appreciate them and respect them as beautiful and amazing companions, it's just so cool to see. I feel there is just always an extra special connection present between people and horses. It's interesting to see how much you can grow to understand an animals thoughts and feelings with spending time with them like they do on set
Ok guys, this is the best behind-the-scenes-documentary I have ever seen, it brings me to tears every f🌟cking time I watch it, cos I work with horses and I love them and I know how it feels when you know that you are going to lose a horse and will never see it again. BUT I have a few things to say here, indulge me, please. Blanco is called a white Andalusian stallion. Well, sorry, he is none of those. He is a great horse, but he is obviously a gelding, he is not Andalusian, and his colour is called grey, not white. Then, in one of the shots the second unit director says: Here comes Blanco, but that is not Blanco, it is Domiro, who really is a stallion etc. And now a question: Florian, Arwen's horse, what breed is he? I can't figure it out! He looks like an Akhal Teke, but he has too much mane and tail. Tell me, what breed is Florian???
I think you should have mentioned how many women ut was that took part. In the end, women played the majority of the riders. Why do you not show that fact in this homage?
The person who uploaded this didn’t create it. This is one of the dvd extras from the extended edition of the films. One of the other dvd extras mentioned that fact explicitly, and this one had interviews with as many female riders as male
So Viggo bought the stallion for Arwen's stunt, what a king!
That stallion is beautiful.
He just sounds an all-around great person. I’ve never heard one bad thing about him!

@@reecejohnson488 that’s sincere kindness
@@claudiagibsonmusic It is because Viggo has integrity.

One of the best scenes in the movie, amazing that it’s improvised
Dom trying to get his horse moving was a great scene in the movie
Ian: :"domero was the principal Shadowfax.... and a diva" LOL

It was absolutely really well done, it was grand and all the things you mentioned before me
Also the sound and music, as it stops and is taken over by absolute carnage as they clash into the orcs. So powerful.

Omgg imagine if Aragorns horse had sat down on his face in the scene by the river like the first stunt horse did LMAO
I remember watching this and it made me respect Viggo as a person and actor.
oh ian all stallion's are divas
Big, sassy divas 😂😂
That and mares too! 🤭😅
And they know it!
This brought tears to my eyes, what a beautiful behind the scenes thing to know.
As a horsewoman, the horses were the best thing of these magnificent films, as well as the gorgeous Viggo Mortensen.
Please enhance this footage to HD or 4K, this is a really great video!
What a wonderful tribute to all the amazing horses and their humans for being a huge part of such an amazing movie trilogy.
I would have loved to been riding in such a beautiful country.
Thank you all
🐎🐴🐎🐴❤🙏👏👏
I wonder if the orc extras scared the horses. They look so real, they’d definitely would have frightened my dogs.
When Shadowfax runs to Gandalf is sooooo moving and beautiful

I love this behind the scenes look thank you for sharing it
also RIP all of Viggo's horses from LOTR
Viggo is amazing...this whole video is mind blowing!!!
Watched the whole video for 28:00 - amazing. What a guy.

Love extra content. Can't wait for the next extended addition LOTR movies
Basil Clapham 👏👏👏👏👏
John Scott has some awesome horse docs, "World of Horses" there where 2 seasons, they are great!!
Thank you very much for uploading this part of the Filmmaking. As a Horseman for decades AND LOTR-Enthusiast this is MUST SEE.
What a brilliant video. Love the horses.
Would of been so cool to be a Rohirrim or Gondor Knight extra love riding horses.
10:31 i bet so many people wished they were that horse XD
was looking for one of the horses i used to ride (not in the movie but after) cant see her thou :(
This is so cute
this way better than cgi
Nothing beats the real deal!
an animal communicator on set should be mandatory!
Loved this!❤️ would have been bad ass to haul butt across that field
Imagine listing "featured orc" on your resume.
0:31 I’m sorry but… how did this work exactly? Seems like something that would cause great injury (especially to the rider).
Why has Viggo not done Ulysses S. Grant yet? He was one of the best horse riders of his time, Viggo would be perfect.
WTB VIGGO NEXT MOVIE. HUNT FOR GOLLUM

"Fuck this horse" 🤣

You should see how they train these horses. It's incredibly cruel.
I doubt it
Not every trainer is malicious or cruel
@@Dannypp-ze7he I hope not, but I watched this video about how show horses are trained and it is absolutely abominable. Just disgusting.
