Recorded mostly on the Tascam MS-16. After filling up all 16 tracks, we digitized using the MOTU 16A and did all the vocals Digitally. Everything else was done on the Tascam MS-16.

Rack Tom-Shure SM57
Floortom-Shure SM57
Overhead-Rode M5
Bass: DI using a Studio Projects Preamp
Guitar: DI through Studio Projects Preamp
Keys: Nord Stage 3 and Juno 6 Synthesizer
Percussion: Rode M5
All horns recorded with Shure SM57
Boss Percussion Synthesizer has been sprinkled throughout the track.
Tape Flanging done through the use of Varispeed on the MS-16 synchronized with a Digital Bounce of the entire track.
Vocals done using a Neumann TLM-103.
Mixed down using a Soundcraft Ghost LE 32 Channel

I just got a Tascam MS-16 used by the rock band Wilco and their former multi instrumentalist Jay Bennett. It's the 30 IPS version. It sounds absolutely amazing.

I actually obliviously hit sync mode when in fact I should have hit repro for the final mix!
@@BrothersNylon haha, no worries man, sounds great! Cool to experiment with tho, I sometimes would mix in sync mode on purpose, sounds a little different. Less high's and sometimes a little beefier? Has to do with calibration also i guess

The MS-16 sounds so good, found one in my area the other day but it sold fast, any other recommendations on good tape machines to look out for? I'm interested in getting deeper into tape than just using my old 414. Great stuff as always guys, this is such a great song.

Hey Thanks!! My Machine didn't come with the NR units either so no Noise Reduction was used on this either
@@BrothersNylon Well, that's reassuring! I don't hear the tape and/or pre-amp hiss in your recordings that I have heard coming from the one I have. It originally belonged to a friend of mine and as of March 2020, he's now no longer with us. I inherited this machine (sort of). He and I recorded on it together a few times and I always thought there was too much floor noise in the product even without a noise reduction unit. Maybe, it can be attributed to the way he had it chained into his setup. Nice to know (and hear) the machine's potential from you guys. I learned about you two searching UA-cam for a demo of the MS16. Your music is the best demo of it on all of UA-cam! Now that I've discovered you, I'm checking out more of your material. Keep up the good work!
