This is the song that hooked me and started me on my Twenty One Pilots journey. My daughter introduced me to them about a decade ago, and I just went to their concert a few days ago. They are still great! As a retired English teacher, I am saying that Tyler's lyrics are brilliant. Add to that a story line/lore that has been continued through four albums, and it is pure genius. They are one of my favorite bands of my life. At the concert, there were kids with parents, fans that are teens and 20 somethings all the way through us older fans. There are no better fans than Twenty One Pilots' fans. The mutual respect of the band with their fans, and the fans with each other, is second to none. It is a rabbit hole worth jumping into with two feet!
Being alone with your thoughts, without any distractions, can be a dangerous thing. "Sometimes quiet is violent." Depression without distraction can be a heavy burden. Something as simple as a car radio can save you from becoming overwhelmed with your own thoughts.
Lyrically, it's about mental health, which is a common theme with them. The "car radio" represents distractions from his intrusive/depressing thoughts. When that's "stolen" metaphorically he has to address and deal with those thoughts.
Twenty One Pilots is a whole genre themselves. I am so in love with these guys, the music, the lyrics, the visuals, and they seem to be really good, genuine family men as well. I love them so much so; that I have a tattoo in their honor. I hope you’ll continue reacting to them. I think you’ll like what you experience, if you do. Actually; I believe in them so much, that I know you will! ❤
So his radio was actually stolen out of his car while he was in college, and it went from a vehicle that was full of music and *distraction*, to a place of complete silence where he would get lost in his head and his dark thoughts without the distraction of his music. On the surface level, it’s talking about thinking too much about bad things or anxieties because the distraction of the radio is no longer there.
Loved your reaction! I was having fun while watching you react to the video 😂 you should do more of them, its a complete universe of characters, lyrica, cinematography... You'll have plenty of support from the Clique(twenty one pilots fanbase)
Oh, you are in for a TREAT!!! These guys are about as creative and talented of artists as you're ever going to find, honestly. The lyricism is unmatched, and None of their songs ever stick to one genre or sound, so you never know what you're getting with them! Oh, and they've had the same creative team since pretty much the beginning. Every single video is just as amazing as this one! For starters, i'd highly recommend some of the other singles from the album this song is from, Vessel: "Migraine", "Ode To Sleep", and "Holding On To You". They're all stellar!
I'd also like to say that the part that was live was all a one take which is incredible that they were able to get all those people to act all at the same time
Btw the symbolism for his hair coming back after the show is that the show and audience renew his spirits and bring him out of that dark mental state he’s in. Basically it gives him new life to share his music
Love this song- my favorite parts are how the song proves itself- he says you need to think and to think is to be alive so don’t let things distract you from what matters and is real and then the crazy beat drop itself distracts you from what he’s saying and then he reminds you what he just said when the chorus comes back in all quiet after it ends- this band is all about cycles and how to break free from them and have hope. Another fun fact is when he is down in the pits when the beat drops the fans hold him up showing how important they are to him- but when he is alone at the end of the song he falls off the stage where the people would have been but nobody is there to support him- both showing he relies on people to support him and how we need other people in our life to help us- and that he is so grateful to the fans that have given him his platform. Amazing band!
This band always has really interesting videos that you can dig into I think you’ll have a good time reacting to honestly almost all of their stuff, plus it’s always fun to watch someone discover how talented this band is in all aspects of production 👍🏻
Late to this one but great reaction…. Would love to see you unravel more Also just love going to the comments & seeing all my favourite reaction clikkies here 😆…Sherry, TineSess, ericstockman, meow meow…. All the regulars…. Makes me smile
The car and radio is more talking about your human body and all the sounds that you have as distractions. But when you are depressed you kind of shut yourself out from everything sometimes. And that is where losing the car radio comes in. It is the wanting to stop being ion this depressive state and have those distractions. Because when y9ou are alone in your thoughts, they can get dark. At least that is my interpretation of the song. On of my favorite songs from them. A lot of their songs have to do with metal health. Not really a bad song from them.
Welcome to the masters of metaphors, geniuses of genre-blending, and maestros of musical talent. Their music and fanbase is like no ther. Buckle up! ❤|-/💛
One of my favourite bands ❤ for the begining the best option is to check out ode to sleep, guns for hands, steeesed out, lane boy or the house of gold I think. Don't listen recent albums cause you will not understand anything 😅😅 they have very specific lore which started many years ago and it's like a movie 😅
In the video he puts on the mask at the start of the show, the music kicks in and he goes wild along with the crowd, at the end of the show when everyone has left, he removes the mask in a silent venue... back to his thoughts.
Thus happened at a real concert. He asked if they would join. Who would say no? He has shaved his head nant times, a few on video. You should definitely dive into this band. They are amazing! Ode to sleep is a great starting point. Holding on to you, Ride and of course you know stressed out. Big mental health advocates. They truly are amazing! I see you have reacted to my other 2 favorite artists, Ren and Falling in Reverse. Im here for it all!
this is actually a true story that someone did steal the radio out of his car when he was in college - it's more about what the car radio represents - by taking the car radio away, it took away the thing that distracted him from all of his problems so now that the car radio is gone he has to face all of his problems - so every person's "car radio" could be different, it's whatever helps you get through the day and distracts you - so if that was taken away, could you handle your thoughts when that's all you have?
This is the tip of the iceburg...no bad songs...no bad videos...I have a feeling you will enjoy the majority, if not all of them.

I will always show up for a Twenty One Pilots dive in. It’s all brilliant.

Also, not metaphorical at all. Someone actually stole his car radio in college. And he is emo, this is the song that came out
In the Spotify commentary he actually wants us to try and driving without the radio on that way those thoughts can come out.
Ode to Sleep should be the next video you watch. Its a good intro to the band and their style.
Second this.

I'm here for the Twenty One Pilots journey! Great reaction ❤
Ode to Sleep and Holding on to You are great options for early reactions. You can really get a full feel of how talented and gracious they are
Such a great reaction ❤
Btw the symbolism for his hair coming back after the show is that the show and audience renew his spirits and bring him out of that dark mental state he’s in. Basically it gives him new life to share his music
Interesting, I never saw it as that. I saw the whole concert and shaving his head, as him "Pondering something great"

Yes Art and music, their own unique genre, it gets better the more you understand
@@bethannboldt281 I really think music should be visually artistic not just musically.
Very talented 2 guys. I have seen them 3 times. Concert and a show. Amazing.

Their songs and music videos are another level of artistry.
Check out Holding On To You. I believe that was their first major music video.
Thank you for the reaction! I love twenty one pilots so much!!! You should keep reacting to them, they're amazing artists!
The very best at what they do.. just wait until you'd get a chance to experience them live in person. 😅

They also have a new album, you should reac too “backslide music video”, the Drummer josh dun directed it 👍🏻👍🏻
In the video he puts on the mask at the start of the show, the music kicks in and he goes wild along with the crowd, at the end of the show when everyone has left, he removes the mask in a silent venue... back to his thoughts.

If you liked this song you should react to Lane Boy by them.
Ode to Sleep music video is a must to understand them more! 🔥
if you liked them definitely should check Fake You Out live from the LC
if you want to, you could watch their ode to sleep video and then their "I am clancy" lore videos
Ode to Sleep next for your TØP journey.
It’s a metaphor - twenty one pilots (Tyler & Josh) is insanely deep - dig in and comment later . Start with heavy dirty soul and always end with trees
You should react to neon gravestones, a lot of content in the lyrics❤️
@juancarlosmartincachon7647 thanks I will check them out this weekend too
MORE TWENTY ONE PILOTS. AND START FROM THE BEGINNING SELF TITLED ALBUM 👍🏼👍🏼

This song is played at every show. It's interesting that there's no hook.
Please do more TØP!!
