I so enjoy listening and learning from Fr. Martins. Regardless if anyone is Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist or Agnostic or any other religion, there are angels and demons. Spiritual warfare is prolific and everywhere. You may not believe in the Devil/Satan (which makes him extremely happy), but he believes in you.
Regardless of whether atheism isn't actually a religion, angels and demons are fictional fairy tale beings. Why the hell would imaginary Satan care whether I believed in it? How could it harvest my imaginary soul if I didn't believe in it?
A heads-up. I get advertisments for psychic readings and contact with mediums on this video. Not very pleasant but if people are curious they may fall into something shady.
Great video! Just wanted to share some insights from both Orthodox and Catholic teachings on this topic: Orthodox Teachings: • Created Being: The devil, known as Satan, is a fallen angel and a created being, not omnipresent. • Limited Presence: He can’t be everywhere at once. His influence is widespread but relies on a network of demons. • Spiritual Warfare: Believers engage in spiritual warfare, but the devil is always under God’s sovereign control. Catholic Teachings: • Created Being: Similar to Orthodox belief, the devil is a created being and a fallen angel. • Not Omnipresent: Only God is omnipresent. The devil, being finite, cannot be everywhere simultaneously. • Demonic Influence: Demons, including the devil, can exert influence in many places rapidly due to their spiritual nature, which is not bound by physical constraints like humans. To clarify, the priest might have meant that demons can have a pervasive influence, not that they are truly omnipresent. Omnipresence is a divine attribute belonging only to God. Both traditions agree that the devil’s power and presence are limited and always subject to God’s ultimate authority. Hope this helps clarify! 🙏
Even as a Protestant, I was taught God is omnipresent. Angels, including the fallen angels, are not omnipresent. There is a passage in Daniel 10:13. That talks about an angel of the Lord being held up by a demonic force for 21 days.
I'm a protestant and i don't believe either angels or fallen angels are omipresent. However they may know a lot more as spirits without shells, not to mention there are multitudes of them who are interconnected and can communicate to one another in a much more advanced way
You climbed mountains and built skyscrapers. You made TV shows and put out newspapers. You were wicked good at doing stocks. You liked it when Emilio would change your socks. We never hung out and that makes me sad. All the good times we could've had. But when I die, Uncle Preston, you better say "Cheers". Cause when me and you are hanging at the pearly gates, I'll bring the beers. I'll bring the beers.
Mmm, not sure I agree with angels not being limited by space and time. Why then did Gabriel have trouble getting to Daniel because the principality of Persia was opposing him if everywhere was available to him? Michael came to help him because he was, in a sense, trapped there.
He might just be talking out their having supernatural limits that are outside the capacity of humans to define. God knows their limits but we don’t. We just know their magnitude compared to us.
Absolutely, i don't think i can agree with the notion of either angels or fallen angels are not limited by space and time, if they actually are, then satan might have had a hold of Moses body once he died because satan would know exactly where God burried Moses body. Again, in Job 1:7 the devil himself said that he roamed about the earth, how can an unlimited being have a necessity to roam the earth?
Oh, I've already seen this interaction with Fr Carlos. The Priest I most respect for his straight‐forward manner. But why are you repeating a video already out there Cameron ? Curious because I can't see why you would repeat a recent video. I can never get enough of Fr Carlos Martins. Mon 17 June 2024
Beverley, this is a "clip" of the full interview. Some viewers only watch clips. Sometimes I have to see how much time I have before I click on a video, too, so I appreciate these clips.
I also thought Fr. made it sound like angels are omnipresent - which their are not. Also, this perfect knowledge of foreign languages - in the Book of Acts, isn't this what the Apostles who received the Holy Spirit also speak in languages that they had no prior knowledge of? People heard them speak and understood them in their own language.
Angels because they are face to face always with God are also able to see what God sees or wants them to see. Also saints have been known to bilocate... Angels can too and more effectively at that.
While CC is obviously very friendly toward Catholicism, this is technically not a Catholic channel either. Our board, for example, consists of both Catholics and Protestants. The mission statement of CC is to expose the intellectual side of Christian belief (beliefs that are central to all Christians).
There is So Much that binds Catholics, Protestants and the Orthodox Christians - namely Father, Son, & Holy Ghost ! That said, Protestants are Confused about the Eucharist and very much confused about Mary.
Correction to the priest - he says angels / demons don’t travel and are everywhere - he’s wrong - only God is everywhere - angels are spirits but still can’t be everywhere at once - in Job the devil admits he’s walking around the earth when God asks him what he’s up to
This guy is describing angels as being omnipresent They definitely are not. The Bible speaks about in several places angels having to travel and even being impeded in their travels. Like in Daniel 10:13 -something, I cant remember where it stops. But only GOD is all knowing and omnipresent.
He's claiming angels are watching us all the time and are omnipresent? This sounds like they are God. Creepy to think you're being watched all the time.
So does anyone think that this priest and other priests are lying about levitation, or about people knowing things they couldn't possibly know? These responses intrigue me as it cannot be explained away by mental illness. How many priests make these types of claims about exorcisms? I'm curious.
These are claims of most mass media exorcists esp catholic , protestants tend to ignore the topic. The reason maybe that catholicism is much more ingrown into popular myths, pre christian culture. I don''t how much truth is there but suspect there is none. I was a devouted believer in all these claims now i im not.
The priests say the movie Nefarious is a good illustration of what they see in most excorcisms...more mind games. But the bizarre physical displays happen so regularly that they get used to seeing it. Apparently the demons repeat stuff.
this is honestly where christians absolutely lose me. i find so many aspects so beautiful about christianity, i am still an atheist but much closer to converting or at least trying to live a christian life and then i stumble on stuff like this and it's like a reality check... i don't know if i can take people or a church serious who believes these camp fire stories
You don't need to become a Catholic. You don't need to necessarily put stock in that a merciful God cannot work in other ways than their tradition prescribes. FWIW, I am not (Catholic), and don't, either. I think God's mercy is being manifested towards the oppressed, in spite of our (at times) weak and bad theology. However, what sort of Christianity denies the ontological existence of God, and His archenemy, the Devil? Save for a few "progressives"...tbat don't see the devil as anything more than a metaphor...not really, anyone. If the devil exists...then it probably has some interest in hitting his Enemy the only way he can...dragging into filth the ones created in His image, those Christ agonized for on the cross. All these, devoid of probably the things that sound odd to you - and many to me as well - are much more modest and what is the essence, after all. I don't need to be a Catholic to have personally experience pure evil - most of the one commenting here, regardless of their doctrine, haven't...but in theory - things that cannot be explained. And I don't need a Latin prayer to be concinced that prayer works in dealing with the darkness. And when the staunchest atheist doctors have all the data that medicine can procide and they tell me that I'ce experienced a miracle; I know that a simple prayer has done the impossible for me. The tesimony of someone that doesn't believe in God is enough for me. All the best, on your way, seeker! Seek God, read the New Testament; forget complicated theology books (and I am saying this as a little bit of a theologian myself - I have the diploma - really, just the cherry on top of knowing "God in practice") and read "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis. If I may recommend you something.
I don't really understand your reasoning. You're open to the possibility of an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-benevolent, non-physical reality that transcends time and space but the existence of lesser spiritual entities is too much?
Hmm. Praise Yahweh the one true God. Revealed Triune as Father, Spirit, and Jesus the Son, each member fully God of which there is only one. 3 distinct Persons coexistant, coequal, and coeternal sharing 1 Divine Essence. Jesus lives and is God, Christ, King. Repent of your sin and believe in Him and be saved to eternal life!
This is crazy that exorcism and exorcists are being taken seriously. There is no such thing as demonic possession. Just like there are no such thing as ghosts.
Ghosts may not exist. But, if you ever experience one, your experience will either be a hallucination, or "a real experience" to you, and, therefore, "real enough" for you. Make sense?

Here’s your new religion with your messiah already in it. Said the Roman’s to Jews. The Jews accept the Old Testament as part of their Bible but not the New Testament that was written by anonymous scribes in Greek commissioned by the Roman Empire.

The total non-physicality of angels is certainly a traditional Catholic view, which, however, doesn't quite reflect the ancient Christian tradition (e.g. Makarios the Great, and many other saints). A XIX century Orthodox Christian Saint, bishop Ignatius Bryanchaninov, investigated this question in minute details and argued against this Catholic point of view in his book on death.

catholics were not given knowledge about the soul, so they should not talk about the soul as if they know what it is, and saying that the soul is as large as the body and the body and soul are the same, is utter foolishness. Read Bhagavad Gita where Lord Krishna shows with His Mystic powers and talks about the soul, that lives in the heart = cut a point of hair tip into 10,000 pieces = one of those pieces is the soul. Accomplished Yogis with Mystic powers, like Jesus, could see the proof of Lord Krishna's words about the soul. The heart is an material organ, and religion gives it the most importance = because, truly, that is where the soul lives and stays till it leaves the body.
Keep in mind our body is the house for our spirit. Together creates a soul When possession takes place it’s taking over our body and our spirit does not operate the same. A few corrections make a difference to properly understand possession
Funny enough I just replied to another comment that said the same thing, but here goes my reply again: I believe context is necessary here, friend. You are correct that only God is omnipresent. However, angels, who exist beyond matter and are purely spiritual, serve as His messengers and heralds. As such, they carry God’s divine omnipresence. Angels are not inherently omnipresent; their presence is not due to their own merit, will, or power, but rather God’s. God, who is truly omnipresent and all-powerful, sends angels wherever and whenever He requires their presence. This indirectly gives them an appearance of omnipresence from our human perspective. I think this is what he meant by it, because, if we listen careful, the priest never actually said they were omnipresent per se.

To answer your question more specifically- the probability that a a person can tell the first 3 digits of pi (3.14) is obviously fairly high, as this is taught to nearly everyone in elementary school. The probability that someone can identify any arbitrary digit of pi right off the bat (like the 119,326th decimal digit) is much, MUCH less common without googling the answer. @@anng.4542 what I have noticed about visions of hell and near death experiences is that they often correspond to the pre-existing beliefs about heaven and hell. Which means depending on their beliefs about these subjects the experience is different and when they return from the experience it doesn't affect their pre-existing beliefs. That's why we have to test all such experiences by the Bible and I don't believe the Bible supports the idea of eternal torment in hell. Next, you'll throw out Matthew 25:46, Luke 16, and Revelation 14:11 to support your position. Those verses would support eternal hell in isolation, but there are over 100 texts that do not. I can count on one hand the number of texts that could support an eternal hell. I also believe God is a gentleman and would not do something that might shatter a person's religious framework and perhaps the idea is more important that the imagery. I agree with Saint Faustina that many people will wake up in the judgement and for the first time realize that all that religious mumbo jumbo they rejected was actually true.
@@sandrahernandez1940 I'm not exactly sure how it works, but there is no consciousness in death. The next thing I will experience after I die is the Second coming of Jesus at the resurrection. Jesus called death a sleep and it's called that dozens of times in the Bible. We can't go to heaven or hell at death because the judgement hasn't happened yet. The judgement for the wicked happens after the second coming. Jesus brings the reward of the righteous with him when he returns, that makes no sense if we already received our reward at death. The best analogy I've heard is that our consciousness is like software that is backed up in the cloud. Our body is the hardware. When we die the hardware disintegrates and our consciousness is backed up until it can be reinstalled in our new body. Software cannot function without the hardware, but it can exist without hardware. Our identity/consciousness is in stasis until it can be installed in a new body. I think it's essentially that God has perfect memory and can easily recreate our identity in a new body.
Around the 6 minute mark the priest says that at the beginning of the diagnosis he asks questions like “did you feel anything” after he prays for them. Incredibly leading questioning. Cameron follows this up with, “in a sense exorcists are like medical doctors” in reference to how they perform diagnosis. Then they go straight back into talking about how the priest is a skeptic What an absolute clown show. Who is taking this seriously?
@@kaufmanat1 No, the evidence for demonic possession is consistently low quality. Just like this priest who is an expert on the subject. We need to seriously evaluate ourselves here if we continue to lend these beliefs credence based on what’s being brought forward.
@coanwilliams, as Father Martins has explained, many people believe they are demonically possessed when in fact they are not, but are instead experiencing some form of intense psychological distress. If there is a demonic presence, it will react with intense anger to prayer and to the presence of sacred or blessed objects. And yes, the possessed individual will indeed FEEL tormented by the demon at that moment, by sensations of terrible, unbearable pain. Thus, the diagnostic question you dismiss so contemptuously... directed to an individual that Father already assesses may indeed have personal problems-- possibly including demonic oppression-- but is not fully possessed.
@@anng.4542 One of the main problems with this type of questioning is not only is it leading, and leading someone who is already predisposed to believe that they may have a demon if they are seeking out a priest, but also that multiple belief systems and traditions can and do use this same ‘feelings based’ assessment as evidence to propagate their own mutually exclusive spiritual beliefs. This tells us very little about actual demonic possession if it is real, and likely leads to an abundance of false positives. This is evidence, but it is very bad evidence and more Christian leaders would be wise to acknowledge that. This priest playing the role of a skeptic here is ridiculous and people are right to not take this seriously based on the content being put forward. He likely believes what he’s saying is true, but the bias here is off the charts. If someone with this type of bias is putting forward evidence for a belief this unsubstantiated, they need to bring a lot more substance to the idea if they want to be taken seriously outside of their ideological bubble.

Yahwism, as it is called by modern scholars, was the religion of ancient Israel and Judah.[1] An ancient Semitic religion of the Iron Age, Yahwism was essentially polytheistic and had a pantheon, with various gods and goddesses being worshipped by the Israelites.[2] At the head of this pantheon was Yahweh, held in an especially high regard as the two Israelite kingdoms' national god.[3] Some scholars hold that the goddess Asherah was worshipped as Yahweh's consort,[3] though other scholars disagree.[4] Following this duo were second-tier gods and goddesses, such as Baal, Shamash, Yarikh, Mot, and Astarte, each of whom had their own priests and prophets and numbered royalty among their devotees.[5][6
This is exactly what the Bible talks about. If Asherah wouldn't have been worshipped in ancient Israel, would have God felt a need to say to the Israelites: Do not set up any wooden Asherah pole beside the altar you build to the LORD your God [Deuteronomy 16:21] for example? So thiese polytheistic practices is exactly what one would expect after reading the Old Testament.
Although the Israelites worshipped idols, that does not mean that God isn't One. Your comment here is added to pull away from the message that the priest is offering.
Can a Christian ever lose dwelling with the Holy Spirit? :) I’d say your point is only a problem if a Christian can never choose to be apart from God after professing their faith? :)
I agree, however we must be careful with assuming that a Christian has the holy spirit in them. Many people are culturally Christian without ever having actually accepted the Gospel. A pastor I know performed an exorcism on a woman and the demon left her and went into one of the students that was praying over her with the pastor. It wouldn't leave student until the originally possessed person regained consciousness and said it was the student's bracelet. The bracelet with occult symbols on it. After they removed the bracelet, the demon was cast out.
@@thadofalltrades culturally Christian? Lol. Just remember that Christ either knows you or tells you to depart from him. Orthodox Teachings:
• Created Being: The devil, known as Satan, is a fallen angel and a created being, not omnipresent.
• Limited Presence: He can’t be everywhere at once. His influence is widespread but relies on a network of demons.
• Spiritual Warfare: Believers engage in spiritual warfare, but the devil is always under God’s sovereign control.
Catholic Teachings:
• Created Being: Similar to Orthodox belief, the devil is a created being and a fallen angel.

Fr. Carlos is one of top priests in the Catholic Church.
That's why the gift of tongues is controversial.
Angels because they are face to face always with God are also able to see what God sees or wants them to see. Also saints have been known to bilocate... Angels can too and more effectively at that.
Fantastic series...so glad we can come to learn more
Can it be called learning to listen to people who have no idea what they’re talking about?

Just a little reminder, this is not a Protestant channel.
While CC is obviously very friendly toward Catholicism, this is technically not a Catholic channel either. Our board, for example, consists of both Catholics and Protestants. The mission statement of CC is to expose the intellectual side of Christian belief (beliefs that are central to all Christians).
Just a little reminder, this is a valuable channel.
That’s a great mission.

Correction to the priest - he says angels / demons don’t travel and are everywhere - he’s wrong - only God is everywhere - angels are spirits but still can’t be everywhere at once - in Job the devil admits he’s walking around the earth when God asks him what he’s up to
If an angel can be at all places simultaneously he is in effect omnipresent. I thought that attribute was God's alone.
You should google Michael Heiser’s lectures.
Pretty much all of them that talk publicly about it. Stephen Rossetti and Chad Ripperger have seen this.
The priests say the movie Nefarious is a good illustration of what they see in most excorcisms...more mind games. But the bizarre physical displays happen so regularly that they get used to seeing it. Apparently the demons repeat stuff.

Easy to dismiss until you see the real deal.
I'm inviting the demons into me right now.😈

the scholar Joseph Atwill wrote a book called the Ceasars Messiah. He found textual evidence that supports that the New Testament was created by the Flavian dynasty. The concept of Dying and Rising Gods is not original and rooted in paganism. Dionysus the Greek God of wine also turned water into wine at a wedding also rode a donkey in victory also had a mortal mom. Greek mythology predates Christianity by 1,000 years. The Roman Empire had every incentive to create Christianity as we know and try to get control of their Jewish population that they were at odds with. Here’s your new religion with your messiah already in it. Said the Roman’s to Jews. The Jews accept the Old Testament as part of their Bible but not the New Testament that was written by anonymous scribes in Greek commissioned by the Roman Empire.
Then why wasn't Christianity allowed in rome until 400 years after the death of christ? I do believe they spent those previous 40p years brutalizing adherents to the religion that you claim that they "created" to control the only group of people that never accepted it. Do you even hear yourself?

The total non-physicality of angels is certainly a traditional Catholic view, which, however, doesn't quite reflect the ancient Christian tradition (e.g. Makarios the Great, and many other saints).

Though I am not too knowledgeable of the subject, as my own journey into belief has begun very recently, I would think thay an earnest prayer with Jesus in heart and mind asking for the sanctification of water by the power of the most highest and the triune would be the way.
@@KurosakiNaturo how can you be sure that’s a better method than standing on one leg, licking a frog, then spitting into a cup? How do you measure results of both?
@@ethanguy82 The best measurement of results is, well, results. Though you may not believe it, there has been a large amount of testimony regarding spiritual/paranormal events and possessions, and in most of them, holy water holds strong effect. Never have I heard of 'standing on one leg, licking a frog, and then spitting into a cup' working with that same effect.
You hold skepticism towards matters spiritual, it is obvious, and I do not blame you. Results are easily falsifiable, and many do so for fame and profit. However, is that not the same in the world of science? Academia has been having a massive replicability crisis, especially within the field of psychology. Hundreds of peer-reviewed studies (with peer-review being one of the most important aspects of firming a new piece of information as scientifically sound, alongside using previously existing literature as reference) have just been found to be bunk. It is estimated that this replicability crisis applies generally to almost all the soft sciences fields.
Regardless, you still likely believe in both freudian and jungian psychological notions, the id-ego-superego, the stages of psychosexual development and the various complexes that can arise, you still likely belive most sociological statistical studies, and so on and so forth. catholics were not given knowledge about the soul, so they should not talk about the soul as if they know what it is, and saying that the soul is as large as the body and the body and soul are the same, is utter foolishness. Accomplished Yogis with Mystic powers, like Jesus, could see the proof of Lord Krishna's words about the soul. The heart is an material organ, and religion gives it the most importance = because, truly, that is where the soul lives and stays till it leaves the body.

Not sure about angelic omnipresence… need to consult the Word.
Funny enough I just replied to another comment that said the same thing, but here goes my reply again:
I believe context is necessary here, friend.

@@pankaja7974 there are those who have memorized long, long sequences of digits of pi. There are also those who have phenomenal memory recall, so I guess my answer to your question would be “it depends”.
Does that help?
In other words, I would need some more specific and rigorous controls in my ‘test’ in describing above to rule out these or other cases (like having an ear piece with someone doing a quick google search of whatever digit of pi).
To answer your question more specifically- the probability that a a person can tell the first 3 digits of pi (3.14) is obviously fairly high, as this is taught to nearly everyone in elementary school.
The probability that someone can identify any arbitrary digit of pi right off the bat (like the 119,326th decimal digit) is much, MUCH less common without googling the answer.

what he said about the soul I completely agree with, except I don't believe we go to heaven or hell when we die. I agree that body and soul cannot be separated.
After her vision of hell, Saint Faustina said that most of the people who end up there did not believe in hell, either.
What do you believe happens to us after death, then?
Then the devil has deceived you.
Then they go straight back into talking about how the priest is a skeptic
What an absolute clown show. Who is taking this seriously?
Do you not believe in demon possession?

Evolution is true, there's better evidence for it than the resurrection, and I believe both.
Your post seems to express New Age beliefs.

More like he got that from Wikipedia, the origin of Trust Me Bro
Although the Israelites worshipped idols, that does not mean that God isn't One. Your comment here is added to pull away from the message that the priest is offering.
Any who say that a demon can enter a Christian who has the holy spirit dwelling within them is simply not preaching the gospel.
Only God permits it, have you read Job?
@@nuno09 nobody was possessed in job.
Can a Christian ever lose dwelling with the Holy Spirit? :)
I’d say your point is only a problem if a Christian can never choose to be apart from God after professing their faith?
From your experience it would have been wise to inform the possessed individuals to repent from their sins and place their trust in Jesus alone for their salvation. Anyone can pray and play pretend. Demons know better and so does Christ.
this guy spews angelology/demonology that is blatantly contradicted by the book of Daniel
???
The book of Daniel is not about demonology.
