I'm late to the whole papercraft party, lol, but thanks to your videos I've finally worked up the courage to play with my rolodex cards, and I'm so very pleased with what I've done so far. Thank you for your constant gentle encouragement.
This is why I hate it when people influence me to throw my stuff away. I just threw away a flat Rolodex like yours and the paper of course was beige from age.
I started to make index cards. It's a bit hard for me to begin in front of a blank card. It's a long project but I'm having fun. And it's good for my old brain.
The idea to treat your Rolodex cards as a book is brilliant! So is your idea to have themes with each letter. Your art is inspirational as always. Love the cards!
Just beautiful ❤ I started a rolodex a couple of years ago. I just wish I thought if placing the images si they all can be viewed in the same direction. Brilliant idea! Several years ago I took a trip to Italy. I scrapbooked the experience in an altered book. I kept all the scraps from the architecture photos. I saw an older video of yours. You used an old passport to create a book. I'm going to use my old passport to make a "Pieces of Italy" book! Thanks so much for your wonderful inspiration!
I have been exploring Rolodex art, luckily a local reuse store has supplied me with a Rolodex stand and a covered card holder for just two dollars each! My apartment building has a giveaway bench and someone left a small cardholder for me to find! Now I have a lot of cards to fill, I really appreciate this video, it has inspired me to get back to work on these!
I love it! Wood mounted stamps...I worked and taught at a rubberstamp and later scrapbooking also) store for 23 years. I have over 20K wood mounted stamps, many from companies that no longer exist. I will never get rid of them, though I have added clear stamps to my collection. For the last several months I have been taking a monthly memory dex class. I enjoy it but my style is more like yours. I wish I could find kindred spirits who would like to swap them.
Wow! What a cool collection! 💜 We’ve swapped Rolodex cards in my membership. If you’re on my mailing list, I’ll provide more information about it when it opens again next month.
This was a wonderful video, Margarete! TFS all the wonderful tips. I can't wait to start my Rolodex card and LOVE that punch. Something to check out and hunt for 🥰
Fabulous so love rolodex love the stamping in this and the blend of colours I am enjoying making inkbox cards curently . Keep Rolling Thank you Margarete all the best
It is so fun and inspiring to watch you create something so beautiful from such tiny scraps and pieces of paper! I am going to start looking for an old Rolodex! Thanks for another great video, Margarete!
These Rolodex cards are so cute just for the fun of it to make it. Next time I'm in a thrift store and see one I'm going to get it. Knowing it will improve my collaging skills I think
Margarete: this is a super project. I can’t wait to start my own Rolodex cards collection. Now, here’s the funny thing. All I have to do is go to my office and there are 4 of them just sitting there gathering dust. Two of each kind. Now, that’s funny. Once in a while they are still being used. Great idea! Carol from California
Whaaat?!! You've got 4 of them sitting in your office? Wow! I'd be itching to create to start filling one of them up. That's soooo cool you've got them already at your workspace. 👍🏼😉💜
What fun! I have a "box" version Rolodex just waiting for some art. I've had knee surgery and been on the bum for several months but I'm ready! Great project and great demonstration, Margarete!
Thank you for the idea! I have one of these Rolodex's sitting empty!! I've been working on organizing, all of my bits and pieces! I got one of those plastic suitcase style holder from Hobby Lobby that has the plastic boxes. That's keeping me busy after work.
Oh wow they are so good . I never thought of using a roller deck. I've been collageing most of this week now I'm a newbie to this and totally addicted lol
I love this video. Thanks for the idea to do a bunch of backgrounds all at once. The punch you used is for Heidi Swapp’s Memorydex system that is SIMILAR to the Rolodex. That’s why Heidi’s punch does not have the same characteristics as the Rolodex card. If anyone finds a punch specifically for Rolodex cards, please let us know. I have looked. Thanks for showing us Cathe Holden’s new stuff. The metal pieces look great on your cards.
@@MargareteMiller Based on how it worked for you, I’m going to get a Heidi punch. It looks fine with that small space at the bottom (or side). Shooting for perfection, I looked everywhere for a more exact “Rolodex” punch. I finally figured Rolodex has the shape firmly patented so it can sell cards for the Rolodex. I actually stopped after one card because I couldn’t get that perfect hole shape. Silly, silly me. 😟
I got an original Rolodex punch on eBay-they’re still around. I’ve also used a hand punch that makes a square hole (Amazon), then just snip the opening with scissors. Obsessed with all things Rolodex.
Hello Margarete, I have been enjoying your recent post and this one comes at a perfect time for me since i am trying to build up my collection of rolodex cards to fill up the vintage rolodex i found on marketplace this summer. Love your design!
I just LOVE RD art. I have the round style (desk space saver, was the thought) that you show here in the beginning and am quite looking forward to getting started on it. I love that you're doing the backgrounds on several at one time. That's such a time saver and a fabulous way to tie everything together. Challenges are GREAT for our creativity. I've been working on a small round journal--talk about a challenge ⚪🟣🟢🤓 Thanks for the jumpstart!
@@MargareteMiller On one hand it's great to work on something small in little pockets of time. On the other, sometimes those little buggers take as long as the bigger stuff, lol LOVE your work.
I just got a Rolodex like your newer one and was thinking of doing the same thing. Unfortunately I had the other kind also and threw it away but kept the cards several years ago. Thanks for the inspiration!
I always love your videos and seeing your process as you work. I would like to try the Rolodex cards someday. Currently I'm doing 3X5 collage index cards for the 100 day project. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤
I love this!! Have not tried this, but I will. I really like how the RD holder is oriented, never thought to do that, dah, lol. Now to find a RD. Love your tiny art, so pretty. TFS * L
This looks like fun. I actually have the same rolodex you have - have had it for years but never did anything with it...gonna break it out and collage away those little bits we love to hang onto. :)
Hi! Thank you for your videos and inspiration! I love them! About the tabs, I was wondering if they could be reinforced with some napkin, or blank rice paper, or something around these lines? Would it be possible?
Really enjoyed the creative trek & how it all turned out! Where are the tiny background stamps from. Love how tiny the images are! Perfect for Rolodex cards. I didn’t see a name or link. I love orienting the card L to R on your flat Rolodex. I haven’t been able to find that style. Thx! Be well, from Terry Y in Texas
I have a group of gals in one of my groups who would be interested in joining the Collage Collective. Would it be OK to post the link on our site so they can check it out? ❤❤❤
I just recently found 3 Rolodex, each one a different style. One is tiny at 1 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches per card.
Love these old Rolodex art books! Tks

Wonderful!! You are off on Rolodex collage art adventures. I'm so glad for you 💙👏🏼🙂

It happens. But it IS nice to clear things out once in a while. 💜
Right!? Or you finally decide you just can’t save EVERYTHING… and then…!!!!!
I started to make index cards. It's a bit hard for me to begin in front of a blank card. It's a long project but I'm having fun. And it's good for my old brain.
It is a long project, but it's so enjoyable. I don't mind the open ended-ness of it. 😉💜👍🏼

Thank you so much, Nachell❣️ I didn't realize it, but yes, it is kind of like a book. What an interesting idea. 😉
What an interesting idea if you had it was fascinating watching you put everything together❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 💙

This is my next project. What huge fun🎉
This is so creative and well done. I’ve not had any experience with this type of art but it is so fascinating.
Love these Margarete. Thank you for sharing
