Was Getting My Masters Degree in Computer Science Worth It?

- I completed my online master's degree in computer science earlier this summer, but the big question was it worth it? Today I will discuss my journey getting my degree from one of the most popular online CS programs, Illinois MCS, and how it benefitted me personally and professionally. I will also talk about some of the things I didn’t enjoy or thought were a waste. Everyone’s experience and circumstances will be different, but I hope to give you a general idea of these online CS programs' usefulness if you consider joining one.

Let me know if you are planning on pursue a degree in CS 👇
Yes I am thinking about of university of Colorado Boulder for ms ds
Thank you for ur video. It helps a lot!!!
Great video, thanks! I'm a electrical engineer trying to be a developer and you channel will be very helpful 🙏🏻
Happy to help
#Congratulations, Mr. Elliott!! 👊😎
Hey, wanted to know what the degree should be listed as on a resume? Just Masters in CS from University of Illinois? Do you include it was online and do you think it looks less prestigious than a more conventional masters in CS? Thanks
The diploma doesn’t designate online vs on campus. It’s the same courses as the traditional Masters in CS at UIUC so I wouldn’t include that the courses were taken online
@@willelliottYT Thanks!
I'm about to do my Msc I'm ai, which would touch on every facet of ai. Not sure if I'm doing the right thing
Any help will be appreciated.
About to complete undergrad in CS, considering applying for the James Madison University masters program in CS with concentration in information security
hey, how did it go?
Thanks for the video. May I know what degree you took in CS? I'm planning to pursue a master's through the OMSCS program
Illinois MCS
Would you recommend a masters in CS if I can't find a job in my field after graduating a year earlier, or is having work experience more valuable to try for first before studying? I feel like I have no real options with how unlucky I've been in this job market, despite gaining certifications and practicing relevant skills for entry or junior level roles.
Hey Will, you are wonderful man, thanks for the encouragement, I am working as senior software engineer and last month got promoted to a tech lead position and I've been wanting to do masters from a long time but never had the funds for it. Finally based on my budget and Indian economy I might consider OMSCS and just wanted to know if it's worth or should I consider Illinois MS?
I have a bachelor + master in Finance, and have been working full-time for ~2 years as a self-taught software engineer. I am now considering doing either OMSCS, MCIT, MCS or the MCS from Texas. Do you reckon I could get in with my background? Or would I need to take courses in Discrete Mathematics and Data Structures & Algorithms first?
Similar background. I found collages that accept students with no CS background to do Masters in Software development but not Masters in CS. How about you?
@@godismyway7305 Try looking at University of Colorado, Boulder. You can get a Master in Computer Science without even needing a bachelor.
I’m looking for a masters program in cs with a low cost
would u still have done it if u had a BSCS?
Probably not
Should’ve done a masters in AI
Why?
@@xjakex2514 because while CS is good up until a bachelors, AI/Machine Learning is an available masters that’s offering many more opportunities than a saturated CS masters rn.
you mean data science. Its been a thing
