    What was the biggest draw to the OMSCS for you? 🤔

      Top quality video! What's important to me is the reputation and rigour of it. I have a masters in CS from a university that's ranked around 350 so I just wanted to go to the next level.

    On the fence about omscs, but it would open up sooo many options for my career.
    I am currently a process engineer with a B.S in chemical engineering and, while successful, I find computer-based careers much more interesting.
    It was too late to pivot by the time I was wrapping up undergad as my scholarship was for engineering specifically.
    I firmly believe if I can get through chemical engineering, I can get through any schooling as that degree was insanely tough.
    Thanks for going over what I can expect. Going to take some courses before I apply.

      Fellow chem eng over here looking to switch as well. I have a MSc in chem eng and around 8-10 YOE as process eng working in 3 different types of industries. While I still like chem eng a lot, I feel my career has stagnated a bit. The "expected" natural progression after my experience in the industry is to become a manager and when I did it for 6 months, I hated every second of it (I don't even put that position on my resume).
      My favorite part of being a process eng is to always learn and optimize stuff constantly and not to manage people. I just love learning so instead of continuing switching jobs in chem eng, I decided to work towards the switch to CS. I feel CS is a field where constant learning is actually encouraged and needed to suceed and that's very compatible with my personality.
      Hopefully we'll do fine as two chem engs in tech hehe!

    Thank you for sharing your experience. May I ask in which year you completed your online MS in Computer Science degree from GTech? Currently, I am pursuing my online MS in Cybersecurity degree from GTech while simultaneously working full-time at a cybersecurity company. I have enrolled in a single class worth three credits, and I must admit, it has proven to be quite challenging. Your account of your own experience brings me comfort, as it reassures me that GTech is indeed a rigorous institution for many students, not just myself. 😅

    I had a 2.3 undergrad gpa due to undiagnosed ADHD and completed many computer science courses except some senior courses. I also completed and got A’s in 2 cs graduate online courses at Arizona State. Would this be enough for Georgia tech?

    I was very disappointed with the program and I'm planning to drop. This was my second master's degree and I feel so much disconnection with professor and TAs. Limited to emails and discussion communication, you never have contact or feedback from the professor. Peer reviews from people that are also learning in this master's level si not the best.

      Agree that the convenience of online learning for the masses comes at a cost communication and accessibility wise.

    Are the exams really difficult the questions out the subject and you don't recommend to take 2 courses per semester?

    What do you think about the MCS in UT Austin ?

    • @willelliottYT
      @willelliottYT  2 роки тому +1

      It’s in my top 3 with Illinois and Georgia Tech. Top flight CS department. Smaller catalog than others but a good option for most, particularly if the Austin tech scene is of interest

    Is OMSCS evaluated as a Master's degree through WES for Canada Immigration ?

    • @willelliottYT
      @willelliottYT  3 роки тому

      I’m not sure, I’ve never heard of WES

      I think it is. It's the same degree you will be rewarded for the on-campus program. I'm also applied for Canadian Immigration btw
