Overall I am happy with what I learned through my master's in CS experience, hope my journey gives others perspective on what going through a similar program would be like 😎
Hey man, trying to reach you for something we can potentially collaborate on, but can't find your email. Can you shoot either your email or Telegram ? Keep up with the nice content :)
Your channel has been very helpful for me! I have been looking into Online MCS programs and I've decided to pursue the one by UIUC. I'm coming from a Non-CS background though so I plan on taking some pre-reqs at an online community college first (looking at Oakton or Foothill).
@@willelliottYT Quick Question on Math pre-reqs. I know it mentions linear algebra, and statistics/probability. Would you also recommend taking a Discrete Math and Calc III course? (I only want up to Calc II in my undergrad).
Hey Will, it has been awhile since you have posted here, so I really appreciate your time and taking a look at this question. I am a CS student and looking to apply to the Univ. Illinois online MCS program. Quick question, do you know to what degree professional experience is required for admission? They kind of allude to it in their videos, but I can't really find any mention of it in writing. I have started the job application process, but I also want to explore this option. Thanks so much for your response, and your videos have been a great learning resource.
Can you make video about most require skills to get first job in blockchain field as a dev? I mean more detail than solidity, Js etc for example experience with Moralis and hardhat etc maybe interview with developer which one hires Juniors, and what skills is he looking for? 🤔 🤔 Sorry for my English, I'm still learning
Haven’t looked into that one specifically. I know Carnegie Mellon is well respected for STEM programs so you likely can’t go wrong there. I’d compare it to UT Austin, UIUC MCS and GT OMSCS and see what fits your needs the most.
@@willelliottYT How would I go about comparing? tbh my strategy is to apply to GT OMSCS -> UT Austin -> UIUC MCS -> Carnegie Mellon. Depending on if I get rejected by each first.
Thanks for the video! I am making a career change and want to do the University of Illinois’ MCS or the Electrical and Computer Engineering Master of Engineering (MEng) program. How was heavy was the math for the MCS program? I ask because it has been 8 years since I took calculus and linear algebra. I am getting my programming skills back, but I am unsure if I should do a serious math review before going for the MCS/ MEng. I know AI heavily uses linear algebra and probability, but did you review calculus or discrete math before starting the MCS?

As a bachelor's graduate of CS I found this video informative. I always wondered what a master's degree in CS looks like.
Spend 5 figures learning something you could get in 1 year of paid apprenticeship. College is a terrible deal.
@@Refresh5406 these programs want to have experience and sometimes a degree as well
thank you so much for sharing your experience

@@TylerTriesTech no, I never used any advanced math in the program

Hi Will, Have you heard of the Carnegie Mellon Master of Software Engineering, what are your opinions on this one?

I also feel 500 level are not as good as cloud computing networking 400 courses
I didn’t take the cloud networking course but definitely agree on 400 vs 500 level courses!
How do they handle ai now with these coding challenges?
How many classes did you take it?
"watching in 1.75x speed was too much"
I mean ideally a professor teaches such that 1x speed is fast enough lol
Way too much content in that course for sure!
Make a videon scope of iot in overseas
Were you taking two courses at a time? Putting in about 25 hours per week?
The first semester I did that and it was a mistake, the rest of the time I only took 1 course at a time
@@willelliottYT nice man congrats! So you finished in 2 years pretty much
@@charizard_baller69 yes roughly 27 months

Used very little math in the MCS program.
Thanks for making the video! It sometimes a bit difficult to understand you when you mumble, especially when using jargon.
Was this MCS or MSCS? I am thinking about MSCS degree.
MCS
