The UFC caters to a WWE wrestling style fan base and it sucks to me. The first UFC that I watched was UFC 2. I went to UFC 7 and went to 14 UFC's between UFC 30 to UFC 60. I like watching grown men fight. Watching girls fight is like men's figure skating to me. The UFC sucks and I have lost interest in MMA since the UFC bought Pride FC.
I like the fighter kits, BUT they should be allowed to put sponsors on their shorts. Make them limited so it doesn't get too out of hand. The uniform look does look cleaner, but there has to be give and take on these fight kits.
Ik the apex was built to hold fight cards without the COVID restrictions being broken by inviting a crowd of fans to watch, but it amazes me that Dana didn't have it built to eventually hold fans when the restrictions were lifted, or that he hasn't already started construction for it to hold fans since they could turn it into the perfect arena for the UFC and make millions from it
It wasnt built to holds cards during covid, it happened to be near completion as they entered lock down, it is built to hold a small crowd and be used for shows like TUF, other promotions on fight pass, and small crowd ufc events. It is not intended to be an arena and having it big enough to be would be a waste of resources
its small, you can only fit a couple hundred at most. also kind of a high security area because it's still part of the PI. a lot of the fighters like the apex because they can hear their coaching better. i dont mind them honestly but i hate how the cards have gotten weaker
Yeah, there was that fairly recent even that was a bit bigger than the Apex, had a bit of a crowd there. That I liked (although the walk ways were a little too narrow for the fighters and security IMO). I'd rather something that.
My gawd you don’t know or maybe you do. How much of a nostalgia trip is the gladiator face the pain intro! Loved it just as much as hearing ITS TIME!!!
I think they could definitely have improved the old belt, the flags were a nice touch. It was just changing them so drastically and I don't like the new ones either.
I LOVE apex cards, hearing all the strikes land, and the corners yelling instructions is always such a treat. Some crowds(not many, but some) just ruin events for me.
One of the ones I’m sad to see go, but totally understand why they got rid of it. Got to consider how the fighters feel about things too and it was an awful system for them.
Bisping vs Rockhold 2 aftermath was the straw that broke the camels back for that. Bisping BURIED Rockhold in the post-fight presser and it was a bad look all around when you had a sore loser and a gloating winner still talking trash after the fight.
In all fairness the guy literally somehow got a hold of the fact that Brock Lesnar was coming back for the first time in 5 years, which I can imagine would have probably only been known by the top brass of the company, and leaked it before they announced it at UFC 199. So you can kinda see why Dana was pissed. If memory serves me I think Dana also got him banned from the press coverage of MayMac, which was only the year after.
It's a way more special treat when you go and watch a LIVE UFC event because they actually still do the full-blown Face the Pain intros for the live crowds, even for the Fight Night cards---though they're no longer on the televised broadcasts at home.
The belts were releathered replicas, they cost like less than a grand to produce. Hell you yourself could buy a replica and have it releathered for less than a grand so every belt they made was chump change prices
They should do grappling only events at the Apex. It's a paycheck, it promotes fighters, lower risk for fighters since they aren't taking strikes to the face, they don't have to prepare as vigorously, and fighters wouldn't be putting their record or rank on the line. Fury Pro Grappling 6 was fun.
@@lupe103344522 Yeup! I’ve been to UFC 232, UFC 245, UFC 270, UFC 272, and a couple of fight nights recently and they all have done the Face the Pain intros it’s epic seeing it on the big screen

Tournaments in sports truly are the best, especially when a title (or something equivalent) is on the line and not just bragging rights. That's why WWE's King & Queen of the Ring is so popular too this day, despite it being held in Saudi Arabia instead of literally anywhere else. Also Impact Wrestling had an awesome mashup tournament in 2019 that may not fit the UFC but could fit the EFC.
@@acridmushroom cool line may be fresh in everyone’s mind right now but it wont be remembered the same way and it’s exclusive to one specific moment and can’t be used the same way as “ here we go”
I miss mid week events and how there would regular breaks between fight cards, made the events mean a bit more. The current UFC schedule is just like prime WWF, near on every week with out fail, touring the world putting on monthly PPV's. Tournaments/Grand Prix would be good for divisions with dominant champs, especially if that champ is trying to take another belt.
The price increase isn't from people watching free. It's more to do with greed and the bloat of not fit for purpose hires that comes with a company growing as quickly and as profitable as UFC did.
@@pluto5618 nah, each to their own, i like hearing what the coaches yell. Most of the time that´s more interesting than the commentary as I can see what´s happening.
Did I hear you say the old belts cost $300k each? I find that hard to believe as many of the belts we saw on TV were replicas re-leathered by Paul Martin (from the clip used in this video). I doubt Dana is even close on this figure. Great video though!
I hate how dirty the UFC did Goldie, but Jon Anik has quickly become my favorite commentator. Dude's such a pro, you can tell he truly loves the sport, really cares about doing his job well, and puts in his best effort every event. And every now and again he'll say some insane shit about custody battles or laugh like Mickey Mouse, and it's great.
Anik was the perfect replacement for Goldie who by his later years had become very repetitive and stale with his fight starting and ending calls. I do agree that Goldie was done dirty and he deserves a an induction into the Contributor Wing of the UFC HOF.
All that stuff w/ Goldie wouldn't have happened if The UFC was transparent and had alittle bit of a send off tribute for him, like a little clip montage or something like that. I like Anik and in a lot of ways he is way better than Goldie but I still miss him.
UFC flushed him down the toilet, it's a shame. Love or hate Goldie, the guy put in the work and earned a good send off and place in the UFC hall of fame
The old belt wasn't worth $300,000. The price to make it was about $2,000 to 16,000 tops, the priciest to make was supposedly the 'BMF' belt, per Dana White - $50,000. The legacy belt or the new one, is three times more expensive to make than the old one. The first google search result isn't always the best one ;)
There is a site where you can watch it 1080p, and every fight comes 1-1:30h after it had happened , not enough time to get spoiled because mostly everybody is sleeping (the main card starts usualy around 4am where I live and the fight of the night is usually around 7) so what that meens is not only does it not make sence to pay for it if youre living in this region, but by relying on this site what saves the fights as well and categories them (by date and organization of happening) Im actually forced to get a good nights sleep and watch the whole thing first time in the morning. You just cant say no to that unless your career depends on it like yours making this awesome content for us. That being said, sorry Tommy hope you hate us a bit less with this apology 😅 amazing video like always!!!
I kinda prefer the look of trunks without a bunch of sponsors on it but it irritates the hell outta me that the fighters can’t have sponsors but they can fight inside a chain link nascar jacket while ads are read by the commentary team between rounds and sometimes during the fights.
I loved when dana rolled out a literal box of cash for some youtubers who were already quite wealthy. While simultaneously paying his fights bread crumbs
I have to admit, I miss face the pain, it must be nostalgia taking over. As far as the belts go, the old belts are far superior, but still not nearly as cool at the Pride belts.
One that did not make the list is all the bars and restaurants that don't show the UFC ppvs anymore. Before I can walk into any Buffalo Wild Wings or Dave and Busters to see it, now it's very difficult to find a spot that shows it. Also the UFC website would tell you what bars/restaurants purchased the PPV, now I don't think it does anymore and the website itself is garbage as well.
The change I hate the most was the stretching out the start times between the fights. Used to be, one fight over, bring out the fighters for the next bout. I get it, the fighters now know when their fight time is which allows them to better prepare. They also put out these extended packages about the fighters to try and get us to care about them and the fight. For us fans though, now we need to wait and wait and wait and wait and listen to the same hype packages over and over again throughout the show. I love Thug Rose, but I don't need to see her playing the fucking piano 5 times a show, every fucking show for months on end. For a while they would put on the early prelim fights on in between fights that finished quite quickly if they had time, but now they don't even bother with that.
I actually quite like the look of the new belt. And the idea of adding gems for every defense making your belt even more unique is better than just getting a new Normal one every time. The old belt just looked old and out dated although I’ll admit, pretty iconic
I don't really get it's "outdated" the only reason you could realistically say that is because it's no longer current. Of course something like aesthetic is a subjective statement. Vut i definitely think the new belt is super hideous looking. That "sleek" look is honestly just bland and boring. Like people who do their whole house in white or grey
I went to my first live event in Vancouver last month and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Face the Pain is still played before the main card in the arena, so at least there’s that.

@@michaellovullo7363 cool story so why you here then
The Gladiator/Face the Pain one hurts the most for sure
Face pain? Like the Ultimate Slap Championship or the Ultimate Slapionship?
yeah lmao changed to that weird espn fortnite music
I like the fighter kits, BUT they should be allowed to put sponsors on their shorts. Make them limited so it doesn't get too out of hand. The uniform look does look cleaner, but there has to be give and take on these fight kits.
I'm still a fan of the old title look. Reminds me of the WCW championship which looked dope af
Man i have such a huge appreciation for the content this channel puts out, keep up the great work yall 🙏🏽
A wave of nostalgia just hit me with all the entries in this video
The WWE gimmick name ideas for the PPVs could've worked if they added numbers with the names every year like how WWE keeps track of the WrestleManias
I’ve never been so early for an mma on point video, GOD do I love hearing Tommy in the intro
Same, popped up right when i took my lunch break! Lol
I got used to the new belt but it's not okay, the old one was literally 10 times better. It sucks so much that we don't have it anymore
The old one looks worse imo
@@bornmenu turns out opinions can be wrong
@@themostdiabolicalhater5986 you are living proof
@@blessedboxer3449 nah he right tho the old better looks better
I think they could definitely have improved the old belt, the flags were a nice touch. It was just changing them so drastically and I don't like the new ones either.
I LOVE apex cards, hearing all the strikes land, and the corners yelling instructions is always such a treat. Some crowds(not many, but some) just ruin events for me.
2:30 i grew up to his calling “ brought to you by budlight “ or “ and its all over “ and “ JUST. LIKE. THIS”
I miss the post fight presser with all the fighters at once. How did that not make the list?
The UFC actually used the Face the Pain intro for UFC 300, I almost shed a tear
The thing I hate most is by FARRRR that the UFC stopped doing the collective post-fight press conferences. Those were amazing.
I doubt the fighters were a fan lmao
One of the ones I’m sad to see go, but totally understand why they got rid of it. Got to consider how the fighters feel about things too and it was an awful system for them.
Bisping vs Rockhold 2 aftermath was the straw that broke the camels back for that. Bisping BURIED Rockhold in the post-fight presser and it was a bad look all around when you had a sore loser and a gloating winner still talking trash after the fight.
Face the pain is so iconic
Not really a change to the company structure but the UFC not allowing Ariel Helwani at the events was a pretty harsh moment.
The fact is if I didn’t have to pay 2 days wage on UFC fights I’d pay for every last event but I can’t afford to watch one
It's a way more special treat when you go and watch a LIVE UFC event because they actually still do the full-blown Face the Pain intros for the live crowds, even for the Fight Night cards---though they're no longer on the televised broadcasts at home.
My first PPV was UFC 100 and seeing that intro blew my 12 year old mind lmao I still love "face the pain" to this day
Face pain? The Ultimate Slap Championship or the Ultimate Slapionship?
Although not major, I miss the old post fight press conferences when ALL the fighters would be present in the room after the event was over.
3:28 that Guru laugh 😅
Jon Anik's laugh sounds awfully transgender
11:44 there’s no way the old belts cost $300,000
Lol DJ has $3 million worth of belts? Not on Dana's watch
This list could easily be top 25. Hope you make a few follow ups.
Dropping the face the pain intro is what hurt me most....
Showing the fighter’s highlights and face the pain in the back ground is peak ufc saturday for me.
I love how the UFC still does the Face The Pain intros live at the actual events. Makes you feel nostalgic when you hear it.
Really? This is awesome to hear as I’m going to my first event next week for 287 in Miami!
@@lupe103344522 Yeup! I’ve been to UFC 232, UFC 245, UFC 270, UFC 272, and a couple of fight nights recently and they all have done the Face the Pain intros it’s epic seeing it on the big screen
I miss the old tale of the tape track. That symphonic music is so cool.
The old belt looks way better than the new one. The new one looks like a Power Ranger could've wore in a fight.
People say the old belt looks like a WWE belt but to me the new one does even more. I honestly don't think there's a problem with them looking like pro wrestling belts anyway.
I love the Apex environment. The quiet cage is SO MUCH BETTER during the fights. It just needs a full size cage and better booking.
I still miss mike goldberg. He was a goof but he stood out and there's nothing better than the moments where Joe corrected him. Who knows how many amazing exchanges we missed between them that could have been
Tournaments in sports truly are the best, especially when a title (or something equivalent) is on the line and not just bragging rights. That's why WWE's King & Queen of the Ring is so popular too this day, despite it being held in Saudi Arabia instead of literally anywhere else. Also Impact Wrestling had an awesome mashup tournament in 2019 that may not fit the UFC but could fit the EFC.
Still miss the.
"And here we go"
Yeah Anik doesn’t have his own iconic lines the same way that Goldy did
@@Domtooboss its not the cloth from where which he is cut is iconic af! goldy is just nostalgic
@@acridmushroom cool line may be fresh in everyone’s mind right now but it wont be remembered the same way and it’s exclusive to one specific moment and can’t be used the same way as “ here we go”
It’s all over!!!
I loved the iconic old belt wish they'd used it improvising with just adding gems.
Anik is a master of his craft.
Face The Pain is iconic don’t get me wrong, but Ron Pearlman narrating the Cold Opens on every PPV gets me even MORE hyped. That’s just me tho 🤷🏾♂️
Thank you I’ve been saying this for ages. Sometimes less is more
Personally I absolutely love the fights on almost every Saturday
It’s crazy how Undisputed is still better than all 4 entries in the UFC EA era
It simply isnt though lol the actual gameplay is far worse than EA 4 or 3.
mmmmm ufc 2 has something to say about that
We get it bro, you’re different
Ya ever since they stopped the ufc 2 online ufc games are dead to me
@@TheKoog97 um…no it’s not. The gameplay in 3 and 4 are terrible
Fight Night cards getting weaker after they stopped being free is a bummer.
Very accurate list. I was also disappointed when they got rid of "Stitch"
Having to be Subscribed to ESPN+ just to even be able to buy the ppv is the worst
The price increase isn't from people watching free. It's more to do with greed and the bloat of not fit for purpose hires that comes with a company growing as quickly and as profitable as UFC did.
You should make one on how sucky the Reebock deal was...for fans and fighters (if you haven't already and I just missed it).
I think they did but yeah, I honestly do miss the sponsored shorts they looked way cooler and obviously got the fighters way more money
I love the apex fights tho. You can hear the coaches, hear the hits and kicks land. It´s awesome imo
agreed, I love hearing the thud of a good shot
That effect wore off after like 3 events in the apex, it’s not that special
Also apex should only be used for TUF and DWCS unless we get another situation like 3 years ago
I wish ufc had some better merchandise on their website
All that stuff w/ Goldie wouldn't have happened if The UFC was transparent and had alittle bit of a send off tribute for him, like a little clip montage or something like that. I like Anik and in a lot of ways he is way better than Goldie but I still miss him.
Same. Give him some kind of tribute, a hall of fame spot for the teams that helped deliver that early UFC energy
UFC flushed him down the toilet, it's a shame. Love or hate Goldie, the guy put in the work and earned a good send off and place in the UFC hall of fame
I hate the inconsistency of the judges scorecards ever since legalize gambling got involved
Doesn’t make it better does it?
Those excessively long UFC events were painful during the FOX era. So many commercials and filler content.
Reebok/venom deal surely. No unique gear anymore it's so dull
I kinda prefer the look of trunks without a bunch of sponsors on it but it irritates the hell outta me that the fighters can’t have sponsors but they can fight inside a chain link nascar jacket while ads are read by the commentary team between rounds and sometimes during the fights.
Funnily enough, I’ve always hated the new belts, but lately they’ve truly grown on me. So much cleaner and I love the ruby idea
Wednesday night fights. I agree with that change. My wife gets annoyed with fights almost every week end now.
I loved when dana rolled out a literal box of cash for some youtubers who were already quite wealthy. While simultaneously paying his fights bread crumbs
was tht gurus voice on 3:28
I have to admit, I miss face the pain, it must be nostalgia taking over. As far as the belts go, the old belts are far superior, but still not nearly as cool at the Pride belts.
I loved when fighters had there own shorts with there sponsors! And there banners hung on the cage during the announcements
I swear in this day and age it’s almost primitive to pay to watch live PPV’s 😂
someone has to buy it to stream it to the rest of us lmao
One that did not make the list is all the bars and restaurants that don't show the UFC ppvs anymore. Before I can walk into any Buffalo Wild Wings or Dave and Busters to see it, now it's very difficult to find a spot that shows it. Also the UFC website would tell you what bars/restaurants purchased the PPV, now I don't think it does anymore and the website itself is garbage as well.
I *Absolutely* *LOVE* the fact that *Tonmy* *ToeHold* has been doing almost all the *New* *Videos!!!* I hope he does them *ALL!!*

I like the new belts tbh
Great video and I liked the random yet well placed horrible histories clip.
5:06 "Stop the fight!" Lmaoooo perfectly placed
Thanks for the shout out!!!!
My thoughts exactly. The new belts look great. A simple modern design and the gems for defenses are a nice touch.
I kinda like the new belts, but the old belts were 300,000 a pop so D. Johnson has 10 old style do the math.
@@alstone9543 The new belts are $330K.
@tekanatoken that's just one belt now, that's 330,000 for one, what are the gems worth?
I don't really get it's "outdated" the only reason you could realistically say that is because it's no longer current.
Of course something like aesthetic is a subjective statement. Vut i definitely think the new belt is super hideous looking. That "sleek" look is honestly just bland and boring. Like people who do their whole house in white or grey
I went to my first live event in Vancouver last month and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Face the Pain is still played before the main card in the arena, so at least there’s that.
Did they add Dan Hardy’s “Stop the fight” for that Silva vs Iceman video game section!! Lmao it’s the little things they do here

Love the new belt and the uniform idea. Hate the fighters lost a lot of money, but it made the sport look more professional and legit by going the uniform route. 300K per belt is ridiculous!!!! One belt idea was really needed!!!
