Thanks so much friend. There's not enough coverage (videos) of the older model cars. Trying to figure this out on my 92 Olds Custom Cruiser. Yours was great and helped out alot. Especially the spring part... I've bought my own compressor but I'm not 100% on using it. It's the two piece design, not like yours.
how did you get the spring compression tool inside... i've been trying for the last hour and i've not been able to find a way to get i in. its the upper portion with the dual hooks i cant get inside. Did you go up through the bottom? through the gaps in the spring? the gaps in the spring are not large enough for me to get it through. I'm going nuts here. Any help would be great.
Brian molloy Hi Brian, you take the part with the hooks hook the hooks on the spring and turn them so the hooks climb up the spring it takes a little patitence then screw the threaded rod of the compression tool into the hook holder
A1phanum3ric69 Thanks i was able to get it about an hour after i posted... I had to use a pry bar to open the springs enough to get the part with the hooks inside. I'm almost certain i have to replace my coil springs due to the amound of compression as i didnt have to compress them much to get the controll arm off. Thanks for the reply.
@@3seconds2live I’m having the same problem.. the whole that the shock comes out of is not big enough to fit the hooks up through. Did you fit them through the spring ( say half way up ) to make it work?
@@lyndonanderson3389 it's just tight. I fought with it for ever. You just have to slide the hooks and the block that connects them throught the spring or try and manipulate it through the hole from the bottom. There is no easy way that I know of. I believe I went through a spring gap and manipulated the hooks into position. Again it's a complete pain in the ass.
I used a grinder disc it worked pretty well
Thank you very much. That is what I am doing to mine. I ordered the entire original front end rebuild kit for my 1974 Vette. Great video.

I have a 66 Chevelle and I didn't need a spring compressor to take it off I just let the arm down
