I've been a mechanic for 49 years, for the first time now I have a customer with an 82 Corvette with the worst wheel bearings I've ever encountered, your video is the best presentation I've watched. You get to the point without the time consuming minutiae so many videos have. Thanks for the information.
Hi Billy, I enjoyed your video.Lots of information there.Have two questions for you. Have you ever installed grease fittings in the bearing support housing? Have you ever turned the axle down with emery cloth so you don't have so much of a problem installing the outer bearing? Again thanks for the informative video. I' planning on greasing my rear axle bearings on my 78 vetted soon.I just wanted all the info I can get before I tackle it.
I have not installed grease fittings. However, I do remember about 20 to 30 years ago there were articles about someone that did this in his shop. I don’t believe it was that successful. I recommend you do not clean the axles with emery cloth for fear that the bearing may spin on the axle.
I’m in the NYC area (Westchester county) Yes I will rebuild trailing arms and overhaul Muncie and BorgWarner transmissions. It is a good retirement job.

Oh so easy! All it takes is knowledge, tools, and experience to make it look easy. Nice instructional video.
Great old school set up!!! Thank for sharing. I will be using your method when I do my 82 Corvette.
Good luck with your C3. I love the C2 & C3 Vettes. But whats best about the C3 is that a nice one can be found at a reasonably low price.
Excellent..a true craftsman.
Very impressed with your work ,thanks for sharing
Thanks for explaining the bearing setup >> great job
Is it not necessary to torque the setup tool to the 100 lbs when checking the end play?
Great job !! Do you do that type of work for anyone . I need to do mine thank u
Great job. Easy to understand.

Good luck with your 78. We have a 78 with silver anniversary paint. I love the body style with the sloping back window.
Hi, do you put any grease in the rear of the races before installing them? Thanks.
No you don't want the race to spin and ruin the housing
Ok, Thanks.
Billy....Where are you located and do you rebuild trailing arms for the public....?
