The R6 is so much more forgiving with CLog. The EOS R you really had to get the perfect CLog settings for the footage to be useable. The R6 I would say is at least 3 times as forgiving to over and specifically underexposure. Great video!
Thank you so much for this video! Used the R and actually really enjoyed it but it seems that the price is perfectly justified with the R6. Look like I just need to save up to get that R6!
Thanks for the comparison. For me, I find adjusting the white balance shift to B1, M1 on the R6 will make it closer to the white balance of the R. I prefer the white balance of the R.
Nice review! What where your settings in the Canon Eos R, because you said I didn't use c-log in my Eos R? I have a Canon Eos R and would like to test it! Thanks
Hi Paule, I already have the R but miss the advanced autofocus, lowlight and IBIS of the R6 as well as usable 4K. If I get the R6, do you think I could match it with the R for multicam video without too much work in post? Thanks for the great video. Was really helpful!
I think I would have swapped my R for R6 if it wasn’t for the codec being so challenging to edit. Such a shame as it has so much going for it - maybe once I’ve upgraded my iMac ... though I’d be interested to see your overheating reports as this could be another deal breaker for my use. Strange and unusual for Canon that there’s such a color difference between the cameras - R6 looks too warm SOOC.
I'm here because I'm deciding to upgrade from a canon M6... Thank goodness Paule mentioned about the codecs when videos are uploaded to DR!! That'll be definitely be a deal breaker for me...
Brilliant thorough video! Is it possible to compare rolling shutter in stills during silent electronic shutter mode? I regularly get skewed and distorted images from tiny movements that warp the image because of slow readout on the R in silent electronic mode and wondering if the R6 is faster enough to eliminate these issues. Thanks!
It was rumoured that the R6 will get clog 3 and an All-I Codec. The R5 already got this update and canon said they’re working on that for the R6 as well so should be out by this year hopefully
@@pauleporterdp Thank you so much sir information if it happens then I am planning to buy R6. ...Specially for video shoot ...what do you suggest ..any alternatives ?
Hi Paule Very informative video. Thanks. Quick question: I do real estate videos so am looking for a camera that will compare with or improve upon the Sony a7iii in terms of dynamic range. As I live in a sunny country (Montenegro) I'd like something that would give me the DR straight out of the box. As I'm the owner of the agency, I'm not a professional videographer and want to limit my post production time, so , currently, I'm not big into colour grading (though would consider if easy to pick up as I find like many content makers, I'm the cameraman, drone operator, sound engineer, producer, director and talent! A lot to contend with but it's a competitive world! Anyway, bang for buck, do I see a big benefit in going for R6 or should I save money for lenses and buy the eosR?
So in terms of DR the Sony A7S3 is better. Go better with the R6 instead of the R. Canon will bring a Firmware Update which brings Canon log 3 to the R6 which will increase the DR

without crop in video but without stabilisation. numeric stabilisation makes crop and there are two levels of stabilisation so two levels of crop. no stabilisation in photo with the EOSR
I have a feeling alot of people didnt even bother to set up the video mode while using the R. Myself, i I have absolute no problem with the recording function on the R, just take a few seconds to preset it as custom setup and BOOM, done.
You did not mention any overheating. Does that mean you did not face that issue? If so, is it because like you mentioned that you haven’t really used 4K much and only used Full HD?
The EOS-R has way too much sharpness and contrast in video, it doesn't look cinematic at all. I am worried that it would not work well on helping to smooth skin tones. But the H.265 codec for the R6, seems like a useless Codec, unless you want to spend thousands of computer equipment. Canon always leaves something out, to render their cameras useless in some special way, to force you to spend an extra $10,000 on one of their entry level Cinema cameras.
@@alphamediastudios2621 I've also seen if you shoot 4K 8 Bit H.264 you won't have over heating issues if you're ever worried that the camera will shut down shooting a wedding!
I wonder why doesn't Canon release a camera that can shoot uncropped 4K@120 without overheating problems, in ALL-I and internal 8 bit. Not more, not less.
