The humidity has been downright tropical this week! It was so bad that I actually enjoyed my ride on the green line because tge AC was jacked up to arctic levels!
Here in The Great Commonwealth of Virginia, where book stores are becoming as scarce as Charles II royalists, anywhere book reviews appear in "local" papers in any substantial amount, is something to cherish. So, again, well done.
For future reference, those of us who live in Southern Maine pronounce it as Sock-o. Apart from that, I'm happy to see a local author popping up on your channel. Thank you for the humorous and always interesting videos. I'm very glad that I stumbled on your channel.
You have only gentle, barrel-chested, bloody-knuckled, beret clad, Masters of the Literary Universe, poking around in your comments. After winning my unlicensed boxing match today I picked up the Penguin black spines of The Jungle Books and East of Eden, along with the Quiet American, and the latest Lynley/Havers novel. Dublin is oddly loaded with John Connolly, Tana French, Banville, and Joyce. Also is freezing in July...
Okay...now I must comment. Embrace your inner Finlander. Reportedly, they are the happiest people on earth, and they love their saunas. For Frieda, try stuffing a little gel ice pack in her halter. Once she adjusts, I think she'll like it.😊
Well, Frieda would no more tolerate an ice pack down her pants than I would, but we'll certainly take it easy on walks! Also: I didn't know I had an inner Finlander?
It was not, sorry! Every once in a while, the library asks Jeff to so some, you know, actual WORK, instead of just goofing off with me. It's very annoying -
I just finished “Cocktails with George and Martha.” I have to say I got a bit annoyed when he tried to make larger points about American culture because I thought his writing in those sections wasn’t as good. The rest of the book-where he dealt with people and the making of the movie-is good.
Thanks Steve!
Happy Saturday.
Stay cool!
😊
heat + humidity = lousy day to walk the dog. good day to just sit in the A/C and read.

It's getting to and from the T that worries me ...
I thought that Mysticism cover looked familiar- it's also used by Penguin for the cover of Georges Simenon's The Snow was Dirty.
The little engine that could. Well done as editor!
In this case, a VERY little engine!

There's a lot going on in that Mysticism book.
Agreed! I'm extremely intrigued, but even so, it has to wait!

Was CPL’s Books of the Week not recorded this week?

Oh my...you make me laugh. Hyperventilate!

Oh my, I agree - the “relevance” tie-ins are the weakest part!
